A Coming of Age Poem
He told me I was beautiful
Mama said I was too young
My heart, filled with sadness
I’ve got nothing but money
Dressed in the finest clothes
Always wearing the fiercest shoes
Drinking hides my pain
Popping pills makes me numb
Thinking about my past mistakes kills me every time
Once I had the truest love
A handsome man
Together we made a baby girl
Now they’re both gone
I’m a broken bird
Don’t want to be a teenager anymore
Ugly on the inside
That’s where I’m filled with so much hurt
Just make it all stop

Bring it, Bitch!
“Let’s be clear here, people. Someone has been after us for a long time, and they want us dead. I won’t give up without a fight. Heck no! For protection, I’m getting myself a handgun that I’ll keep locked and loaded in my Fendi. No one will take us down. Ever!”—Taddy Brill,
Playboy
centerfold, college freshman.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Farnworth,
It’s an honor to have your daughter, Viveca—or as she likes to be called, Vive—at our school. However, over the last few weeks, we’ve caught her using profanity with the other students during recess, which is unusual for an eight-year-old.
For instance, when her teacher, Mrs. Skarsgård, told her it was time to come inside and get ready for arts and crafts, Vive flipped her the middle finger, telling her to “go fuck herself.”
When we asked Vive where she’d learned such vulgar language, she’d told us you allowed her to curse. Rest assured this type of talk is not welcome at our school. We pride ourselves on teaching students to express themselves without having to resort to such tactics.
Please modify this at home so it does not carry over to class. Thank you.
Yours fondly,
Principal Maud Lundgren
