Her hypnotic gaze finds mine, making sure that I’m watching as she kisses my chest tattoo reverently.

My dick pulses at the sensation of her soft lips against my bare skin. I breathe slowly through my nose as I fight the urge to take over. My hands automatically go for those beautiful curls, running my fingers through her hair.

Her eyelids flutter closed as she leans into my touch. She inches closer, her nipples lightly brushing my torso.
Christ
. Hands caressing my stomach, she nips at my jaw, tickling my skin. My eyes close in agony at the sensation, my hard-on pulsing against her stomach. Her movements are soft and meaningful, like she’s been waiting for this moment her whole life, and I let her set the pace. I’m here to do as she wishes.

Grabbing my hands, she guides me to her reading chair, directing me to sit down. The soft lamp highlights the shape of her neck, her shoulders, her plump breasts, and every single lovely curve of hers. She’s a fucking goddess. The second my ass hits the chair, she’s straddling me.

Fucking hell.

Cradling my jaw with her hands, she drinks in every inch of my face, from my hairline to my chin. Her expression full of such longing, as if she’s still unsure I’m really here.

“I thought I lost you.” Her breathy voice tickles my lips.

Wrapping my arms around her, I lightly trace circles on the small of her back.

“Never,” I state. She’ll never lose me. Ever.

She doesn’t speak. Instead, she just stares into me, like she’s trying to see what’s inside.

“What, Lil?”

“Are you sure you’re real?” she finally says.

Grinning, I take a playful bite out of that meaty part of her breast I love.

Ouch
!” She flinches in surprise and giggles.

“There. Happy?” I tease with a smart-ass smirk of my own.

She leans in, taking my lips with such raw passion and earnest desire my head spins. Damn, if I didn’t miss the feel of her all around me. We’re heading straight into oblivion, but that voice in the back of my mind wants to make sure she’s all right.

I break our kiss. “Lil, are you okay?”

The lamplight casts a shadow across her beautiful face. She nods in delight. “I am now.”

Before I can question that strange glint in her eye, she nibbles at my lower lip.

“Lily,” I growl, deep and raw, like the passion I feel for her. “I want you so damn much.”

Reaching between us, she grabs my hard-on, rubbing herself with it, and I hiss, greedy for her core.
Jesus,
she’s so ready for me, I want to weep.

“I want you, too. Can you feel how much I want you?” she asks, low and seductive, heady desire pulsing through her.

I might blow my load right here.

In one swift move, she lines me up with her entrance and lowers herself all the way, until my groin is rubbing against that sweet spot of hers.

Jesus, Lil
,” I grit through my teeth because, damn, I’ve died and gone to heaven.

Every muscle in my body tenses and I lean back, letting out a strangled hiss. God, she’s so tight, always so damn tight, it’s my undoing, every single damn time.

My whole body is locked in place. Our kisses are wild, unbridled, fervent, and the sensations are so intense my head might explode.

We’re skin to skin and her sweet scent sings to me as her hips rock.

My Lily is riding me to ecstasy. The girl I’ve loved for so many years is loving me like she’s never wanted anything else in this world, and I’ll be damned if I’m not going to give her all I’ve got.

“Open your eyes for me, Lil,” I whisper, thrusting my hips leisurely so as not to come too soon. I push inside her, lust and desire seeping into my every pore.

She opens her eyes and
hell
… They’re brimming with nothing but adoration and want, and my hips pick up the pace.

“Promise me you’ll never let me go,” she breathes out between moans.

“Never, Lil, I’ll never let you go.” My raw need for her out in the open, saturating the air we breathe. “Never…,” I groan, over and over. The faster I move, the harder her core clutches around me, and the closer I come to losing myself in her. I can’t pry my eyes away from hers. “Just you and me, you and me…,” I pledge.

“Always,” she pants, her hips meeting my every thrust with unapologetic fervor and passion.

Her hand moves to my chest, covering my tattoo, the mark that tells her she holds my heart. She clutches it as if she’s trying to rip the tattoo off.

I murmur her name like a prayer against her lips, bringing my thumb over her clit while plunging into her, pressing her body against mine. I savor every second, trying to keep her with me, holding on to her, afraid she’ll disappear right before my eyes.

“Tommy...oh, God....” Her strangled plea destroys me, her warmth pulsing tightly around me. Any remaining self-control flies straight out the window, and I thrust into her with full force, until I explode.

Lil
!” I growl, as she collapses on top of me.

She buries her face in my neck, hugging me tightly. Her powerful embrace locks me in place, both of us out of breath.

I’m still pumping my essence into her, and I want every damn night of my life to end this way: holding on to each other until there’s no her and me, just
us
.

After a minute, she breaks the silence.

“Tommy…I,” she gasps, out of breath, “I….”

“You what?” I prompt, murmuring against her skin and hugging her to me.

She pulls away and faces me, her stern expression giving me pause. My heart skips a beat.

She takes a deep, cleansing breath.

“I’m not doing your taxes this year.”

A naughty smirk escapes her sated expression and my chest explodes with joy.

“The hell you’re not. You did them already, didn’t you?”

Her radiant grin says it all.

God, I love
my
Lily.

CHAPTER 9

Ileana

“I can’t leave you, I won’t!” I scream, my eyes blurry from all the tears. I’m desperate. I’ll do anything, but I’m not leaving without him.

“You have to go.” He holds me close. “God, I’m sorry.”

I cling to him, my panicked breathing making me dizzy. All I can do is shake my head hysterically and try to memorize his features; his troubled blue eyes are dark, his strong aura envelops me, and I feel cherished and safe, as if nothing can touch me. I can’t leave him behind.

“You can’t stay, now go!” He shakes my shoulders, our lips crashing together in grief, trying to hang on. This can’t be goodbye...I can’t bear life without him.

“Will, please!” I’m unable to focus my eyes; tears gather and my vision blurs. “No, no, please don’t make me go without you. What if you can’t find me? Will—”

I’m panting, covered in sweat.

Tommy’s body is draped over mine. A wave of panic consumes me.

I chance a glance at Tommy’s face and find his piercing green eyes pinning me in place, his sleepy expression unreadable. Jesus, did I call Will’s name
out loud
?

“What’s wrong, another nightmare?” he asks, groggy but concerned.

“Yeah,” I say, even though it was more like another one of my “memories.”

Two nights ago, I came home and went to bed. The next thing I know, I’m rushing to my living room, trying to call an ambulance.

Tommy getting shot seemed as real as Will did at my door the night of my birthday.

The memories that I fell through some time portal, violating everything I know to be real and tangible, are bad enough; but these nightmares? I’m in so over my head. I need these hallucinations, nightmares, or whatever the hell they are, to
stop
.

Tommy’s strong hand rubs my back and neck, trying to bring me comfort. I seek his touch, clamping my arm around his exposed torso. He hugs me to him, and his warm skin chases my demons away. I wish the weekend wasn’t over.

I scurry off to the bathroom to grab a quick shower before work. When I return to my bedroom, Tommy lazily gets up and follows while I get ready.

“You have time for breakfast?”

“I can’t, early morning today. I’m helping Nelson and Ryan out with their case.”

I grab fresh underwear and duck into the closet.

“Oh yeah?” He leans against the doorframe, stark naked, watching me get ready.

“He closes this case, he’ll get promoted for sure. He’s working around the clock on this one,” I add, scrambling for an outfit. “There’s also talk of Teague making SAC. No more ‘assistant’ in his title.”

I slide on a pair of charcoal gray pants then yank a white, long-sleeve cotton crew-neck off a hanger. I tuck it in and quickly zip up, put on my black leather belt, all while I continue to ramble.

“Anyway, if he makes SAC, he’ll transfer out. I’m going to miss him. He’s an exceptional agent, as you already know,” I finish, slipping on my black pumps.

He’s skeptical, monitoring me with those bright, inquisitive eyes that miss nothing.

Hmm
,” he mumbles, his gaze never veering from me. Anxiety rushes through my bloodstream at the thought he might have heard me call out Will’s name.

I run my fingers through my long hair and tie it into a ponytail. After finishing up, I rush around, grabbing my jacket and gathering my gear so I can get out the door.

“Hey,” he calls after me, gripping by my elbow. He’s now wearing underwear but still in no hurry to get dressed. “I’m sorry we only got to spend a few nights together.”

“It’s fine, really.” I smile contentedly because, these days, I’ll take any time he can spare for me.

“It’s not fine, and that’s about the zillionth ‘
fine’
you’ve given me over the last few months.”

Sighing in resignation, I finally look at him. I can’t afford to unravel, especially in front of him.

“But it’s the truth. I’m always fine when I’m with you. Don’t worry, okay?” His hands caress my arms as he tries to maneuver me against his warm, naked chest.

Before I can respond, he exhales loudly. “Okay, here it goes. Remember I told you I’m working undercover?”

“Yeah. Marcus is on it too, right?” He told me a bit about it this weekend. He didn’t leave my side, but his phone kept buzzing the whole time.

“That’s right. I gotta be off the radar for a while. I’ll try to come over whenever I can, okay?”

He’s going deep undercover. He’ll be putting his life in danger. No, it’s not okay.

“Just promise me you’ll be careful, okay?” Realization hits. He wouldn’t be doing this if there weren’t a lot riding on it. I also know the kind of risks he takes. I want him safe. “Promise me, safety first,” I order.

“Yes, ma’am.” He holds his fingers up. “Scout’s honor.”

“That’s the peace sign,” I scold, giving him a playful smirk.

“I don’t want to leave you.” He’s probably still worried about finding me in the living room screaming my head off. He hugs me tightly, sighing against my hair. “It’s weird not being together every day.”

I know
exactly
what he means.

I want him next to me every day and night. I want his scent all over me. I hate being without him, but there’s no way I’m saying anything.

“I know.” I smile reassuringly, but he’s not buying it. “Seriously, Tommy, I’m fine.”

Spare him your bullshit, Ileana.
“I’m more than fine….” Bringing my lips to his chest, I nibble his skin gently, locking my arms around his waist.

“Yeah?” he purrs, his voice gravelly, laced with lust and desire.

“Yes. I’ll be right here, waiting.” I push up on my toes and kiss him softly, gently biting his lower lip.

His large hands cup my ass. He bends down and kisses me, his mouth and tongue unleashing the passion hiding behind his scorching emerald gaze. Feeling his erection against my stomach, I push him away to try to get my bearings. He’s intoxicating, all consuming.

His skin, his smell, his taste. There’s nothing I want or need more. But this is about him, and he’s happy. He loves his job, and I’ll be damned if I’m going to ruin that for him.

It’s bad enough he walked in on me during one of my episodes.

“I have to go. I’ll miss you,” I whisper into the crook of his neck, as he holds me against him, placing a tender kiss on my forehead. His lips linger there. When he finally loosens his grip, I look up and his eyes are closed, his jaw tightly clenched.

I take him in one more time.

The light dusting of hair covering his pecs tickles my jaw and I inhale his scent of faded cologne, and Tommy. His muscled abs, rock solid against my body along with those oblique muscles—the ones I love to trace with my lips. My hand instinctively goes to my new pendant.

Stepping backward, he reluctantly lets go of me, watching me until I reach the entryway.

I’m almost out the door when his rough words leave those perfect lips.

“I’ll miss you too.”

CHAPTER 10

Ileana

Where are you?

The ping of my phone tells me that Chris is checking in.

I’m almost there. I’ll meet you out front.

Christina’s birthday is later this month, so I planned out our girls’ day—which she had been begging me for—to celebrate. Chris spends her actual birthday with her parents. Even at Northwestern, we had to celebrate early because we all knew her birthdate belonged to the Reyes family.

My state of mind has improved a lot since last month, and thanks to the meds, I’ve been sleeping a lot better lately. The journaling is not that bad either. Gives me something to do those long nights without Tommy.

We agreed to meet close to this vintage clothing boutique North of the city that I found online. The place only opens by appointment, so I arranged for us to spend a few hours there.
