Being rolled over by someone was a strange sensation, but Kade didn’t fight when Deacon moved him. His vision was suddenly filled with Deacon, a softness in his gaze Kade hadn’t expected. “I will show you where everything is, and you will set your chair up like you would at home. If you get turned around or worried, just call out and I’ll help you. I want you to be comfortable here, with me.”

Kade managed a small nod, his mind racing at the implications that he was wanted enough to be kept overnight. He wasn’t quite sure what to think, but got back into his chair, having to take a moment to rearrange himself so he didn’t crush anything thanks to being in the cage. It had been a long, long time since he’d worn it to sleep, but never before had he worn it in the chair.

Deacon showed him around upstairs and then left him to use the bathroom. In a short time, he was back in the large bed with Deacon curled around him, still wanting, but knowing his release was Deacon’s to give or keep. He felt safe and wanted

a feeling he’d never thought to experience again. His last thought before sleep claimed him was
hope
. Hope for something real with Deacon, both in and out of the playroom.

on his back, staring up at the ceiling, Kade tucked tight against his side, snoring softly. He looked down at the man who was already more important to him than he expected. There was no doubt his boy was talented. Deacon stifled the moan that threatened to slip out at the thought of how it had felt to be in his hot little mouth the previous night. The things Kade had done with his lips and tongue were probably illegal in most states. What bothered him and had his mind racing when he should have been sleeping were his concerns over how to best care for his sub, because he definitely wanted to keep him. Never in his nearly forty years had anyone gotten under his skin so fast. When Kade had explained what his ass of an ex had done by keeping his chair from him, Deacon had had to fight the impulse to hunt the fucker down and teach him a thing or two about respect. More importantly, though, was deciding how to teach the sweet man to trust, to truly trust.

Pulled out of his musings by sounds downstairs, Deacon decided it was time to get up. It took a minute or two to extricate himself from Kade’s grip without waking him. Once free, Deacon slipped down the hallway and into his bedroom. Quickly donning a pair of lounge pants and his robe, he then picked out a second set to leave on the nightstand next to Kade before hurrying downstairs. They would be a bit big, but he didn’t think it would be that much of a problem given that Kade didn’t need them to stay up while walking; then he chastised himself for the internal wording.

He didn’t see Kade as broken but knew that was exactly how Kade saw himself in regards to sex, relationships, and being a sub. Deacon continued to consider possible ways to help his boy as he quietly walked down the stairs and headed to the large kitchen.

“Morning, Mr. James,” Rose said when he stepped through the kitchen door. “Your friend stayed? Will he be sticking around for breakfast?”

Torn between amusement at her questions and at how happy it made him that Kade was still there, he smiled and nodded. “Kade is asleep and yes, I intend him to have breakfast with me, but I’ll make it this time.”

“You—Yes, sir.” Her grin was completely out of control.

“Be nice when I bring him down. He’s rather nervous, and I don’t want him panicking.”

“Have I ever been rude to any of your guests?” Her tone was incredulous and her hands on her hips as she peered up at him.

“Rose,” Deacon countered, “it’s not that I believe you would be but that he’s been treated very poorly since the attack that caused him to be in the chair permanently. He hasn’t said it so much as shown me that he truly expects people to dismiss him and treat him badly.”

Her frown deepened, but she loosened her hands at her side. “Oh, the poor thing.”

“He did ask me to pass along his thanks and compliments for last night’s dinner.” Deacon winked. “Seems you have a fan.”

“Ah, well, that’s ’cause he has good taste. Now, if you’re making breakfast for you and your friend, do you want me to finish tidying and do the grocery shopping early so I’m out of the way, or do you need me to stay?”

Deacon tilted his head, looking her over carefully. She was only supposed to do the shopping and the pickup/drop-off of his dry cleaning on Saturdays, so he was honestly a little confused why she was there so early to begin with. “Do what you need to and take the rest of the day off. It’s Saturday, Rose. Your short day, remember.”

“Oh, yes, sir. I know it is, but I wanted to find out if you needed anything extra or special. It’s been so long since you’ve had anyone but
just
friends over.”

“Very sweet of you to be concerned, but I assure you, I am quite capable of making breakfast and caring for Kaden. Now, I need to prepare the area before I go wake Kade up and bring him down.” Deacon pulled one of the chairs at his breakfast nook away and then headed to where he’d stored the high-backed beanbag chair/cushion he’d bought especially for Kade. He carried it over and settled it into the open spot, excited at the thought of seeing Kade sit there.

His thoughts flashed back to when Kade had told him he couldn’t kneel and how lost he’d sounded. Deacon took another look at the cushion and hoped Kade would get the same feelings from sitting on it to have breakfast as he would have once had while kneeling at Deacon’s side.

eat was a visual delight. The way the muscles in his jaw moved, how his throat worked, and the way he licked his lips after each bite, combined to short-circuit Kade’s brain and make his still-trapped cock try to harden in its confines.

“You like watching me eat, boy?”

“Yes, Sir.” He licked his lips and nodded as he gazed up from the unusual cushion Deacon had placed him on when they’d entered the cute little nook area in the large kitchen. Kade smiled at his new Dom and lover, giddy inside at the use of the words, even if he never said them aloud. “You’re beautiful.”

Deacon chuckled. “You are the beautiful one, Kade.” He leaned in and pressed his lips gently against Kade’s before offering him another bite of eggs. He trailed his fingers up and down Kade’s throat as he swallowed. “Do you have anything planned for the day?”

Kade smiled again and nodded. “I have to be at the free dental clinic this afternoon. It only runs because dentists and hygienists donate their time, and this afternoon is one of my days. I, um… I didn’t expect to still be here, so….”

“So you didn’t bring the things you need for work. That’s no problem. I’ll make sure you get there on time.”

“You will?” He wasn’t certain how to feel at the thought of Deacon including himself in Kade’s work plans, but he kind of liked the idea of staying around long enough it would matter.

“Of course. It’s an admirable thing to do, helping those that can’t afford assistance or service otherwise. My office helps to both build and rehab places for the poor. I firmly believe in helping others. As one of the architect partners, I don’t often get directly involved, but I did when I was still working my way up, just as the younger guys and girls do now.”

Kade nodded slowly. “Dane’s told me about working on a couple of those projects.” His gaze followed Deacon’s graceful hands as he ate a bit more egg and some of his toast before offering more to Kade.

“He’s a good guy and a hard worker. He is always one of the first to volunteer his time for such things.”

When Deacon leaned down and gave him another soft kiss, Kade couldn’t hold it in anymore and blurted, “Thank you for this.”

Deacon sat back and cocked his head to one side, idly caressing the shell of one of Kade’s ears. “What for?”

“The cushion. The breakfast. For taking a chance on me.” Kade knew he probably wasn’t making a lot of sense, but his heart hurt with how happy he was, especially with
where
he was.

A series of emotions crossed Deacon’s face so fast Kade couldn’t figure out what any of them meant before a delighted mien settled across his Sir’s face and he laughed softly. “We really need to work on your self-image, boy. For now, know that you please me both in the playroom and out. In fact, I would like you to come back tonight. But only if you’re up to it. I don’t want you overtired or hurt.”

“Tonight?”
Really? More time with him already?
Kade had trouble wrapping his mind around the idea but was thrilled nonetheless. He thought about how tired he usually was after work, but then he usually did full days, not half like today. “I should be okay.”

“If you’re not, you will tell me.” The way Deacon spoke, Kade knew it was a command, not a question or request.

“Yes, Sir. Will, um….” Kade looked down at his hands, folded in his lap, unsure how to ask the next thing.

“Boy,” Deacon said, his voice softer as he touched Kade’s chin, “will what?”

“Will you remove the cage before work or, um, am I to keep it on until tonight?”

Deacon threaded his long fingers through Kade’s hair, scratching his nails against Kade’s scalp lightly as he hummed. “I would like you to keep it on, but I also know you’re not used to it anymore and you will be at work.” He paused, staring down at Kade, his hand never stopping its motions.

Kade held his breath, hoping Deacon would leave it on until he was allowed release, but afraid to ask him to do so. It wasn’t his place, and he really didn’t know what Deacon would want. That was more important to him than his own desires anyway, so he resolved to do things either way Deacon chose.

“You will stay in it until tonight, but only if you can work that way. I will give you one of the keys and trust you to make that decision. Do
not
keep it on if it endangers you or your patients, boy. Understood?”

Kade started nodding even before Deacon finished speaking. “Yes, Sir. Thank you! I would never do anything to risk a patient, though,” he added, not sure how to feel at the admonishment.

“I have no doubt about that, Kaden.”

Kade’s head snapped up, his gaze searching Deacon’s immediately. “You. Then why…. Never mind. Sorry for questioning you.”
Please don’t be mad or disappointed!
A few of his previous Doms had been upset or disappointed if he questioned them outside the initial give and take conversation or when using a safe word.

“Because I do not wish you to hurt yourself or try to please me to your own detriment, boy. It’s just like your safe words, Kade; I expect you to use them if needed.”

“Yes, Sir, but I haven’t needed them yet.”

“Don’t fret so much. Let’s finish our breakfast,” Deacon added, his voice soft again as he reached out and picked up the fork.

HOW
was your weekend?” Katie singsonged behind Kade as he wheeled down the office hall Monday morning.

Kade sighed. He knew this was coming, and while he was thrilled with everything about his time with Deacon, he was nervous about sharing anything for fear of jinxing things with the sweetest, most sexy Dom he had ever caught the eye of—unsure how he’d even managed to do so. The other problem was Katie didn’t know he was a sub, so most of the things that happened, she wouldn’t likely understand. Kade had made the mistake of telling a friend in college about his love of being dominated and had vowed never to reveal his lifestyle to another vanilla person again. Yeah, no.
Freak
and
sick
were not his favorite words to hear, and he really didn’t want to ever go through that again.

“We were slammed Saturday, so I didn’t get a chance to ask. You were all smiles and jumpy when I saw you at the clinic, so I’m guessing that means your date Friday went well,” she continued when he didn’t respond right away.

“We had a lovely dinner at his home, Miss Nosy.” He flashed a wide smile at her over his shoulder. “And a quiet, simple breakfast the next morning.” Before she responded, he sped up, rolling into his office as he fought not to laugh. He didn’t mention the cage he—until the previous afternoon when Sir had given him the best blowjob and orgasm of his life—had been wearing. Or the nipple clamps he’d worn at the time. No, those tidbits he’d keep to himself, the memory more than enough to make him hard again.

“Oh no, you don’t!” Katie stormed into his office, hands on her hips as she stared at him. “You stayed over?” Her face broke out into a huge grin. “Really?”

Nodding, he smiled back and sighed, unable to do otherwise. “He’s amazing, Katie.”

“The sigh is cute, sweetie. So, if you stayed, that means what? You stayed
with
him right? Are you going to see him again? I mean, it wasn’t just dinner and sex, right?”

“God, you’re snoopy today. Yes, I stayed over. Twice. Yes, we’re seeing each other again. And no, it wasn’t just sex.” They hadn’t even had “full” sex. He knew some men, even a few Doms he’d heard of, who didn’t do anal sex, but he didn’t think that was what was going on with Deacon and him. Kade hadn’t asked, though, worried what answer he would get. “He invited me over again this weekend.”
