“Good,
really good,” said Katy.

“Glad
to hear that. You know lots of men propose during the holiday season.”

“What
did I just hear?” asked her mom stepping into the kitchen with one of the
family heirlooms, the white turkey platter that had been in the Nolan-Delaney
family for three generations now.

“I
said that men think about proposing during the holidays.”

“That’s
right. You dad asked me to marry him at my folks’ house on Christmas Eve. And I
have a feeling that
Branndon’s
going to be asking for
Betty’s hand too pretty soon.”

“Aunt
Betty?” asked Katy. Her widowed aunt was going to be married before she was.

“He
seems a nice guy,” said Jennifer.

“The
son is the Don Juan of Big Sky County,” said her mom. “Girl in every city on
the rodeo circuit so I hope he doesn’t get that from his father.”

Betty
chose that moment to head out with two empty glasses.

“The
men have sent me for refills and to tell you the game’s almost over if you want
to start serving the meal.”

“We
can certainly do that,” said her mom.

“I’m
looking forward to seeing Cash again,” said Betty.

Katy
couldn’t wait to see him either. Maybe next year he’d spend the whole day with
them. Hopefully he’d catch
the
I
’m going to propose
spirit because Katy sensed that this was the guy she was destined to spend the
rest of her life with.

Cash
hated to go to the Nolan-
Delaneys
empty handed so
he’d bought a couple of bottles of wine. Now with the slick driveway and having
both hands full, he was regretting his decision. He hadn’t had much practice
walking on ice or snow with his prosthetic leg and he hoped he didn’t fall and
smash both bottles and stink of booze when he got to their door.

He
took it slow, got to the doorstep all in one piece and rang the bell. Katy
opened the door to him. Inside he could hear chatter and laughter and warm air
kissed his face. She looked so pretty. She always looked great but the lights
inside the house danced off her long dark hair. The red dress she wore played
up her curves. He wanted pull her into his arms and kiss her.

“You
want me to take those bottles for you?” asked Katy.

“Sure.”
He handed them to her and then stepped inside. Katy set the bottles on the
table after which she took Cash’s coat and hung it up.

“So
how
was your uncle’s
Thanksgiving?”

“It
was okay. Wish I’d been here with you.” He gave her a kiss but then pulled away
when he thought he heard someone coming outside into the hallway.

“Come
through, we’ve been looking forward to seeing you.”

Cash
walked into the family room to see everyone sitting by the fire either watching
TV or chatting.

“Hi
there Cash,” said Katy’s dad. “Guess we can have some pie now that you’re
here.”

“I
hope I wasn’t keeping you from doing that. I have arrived later than I
promised. The roads were icy so I took it slow.”

“Don’t
you worry about my husband,” said Katy’s mom. “He craves sweet things no matter
the time. So how does everyone feel about eating dessert in here?” asked Katy’s
mom.

“Fine
with me,” said Connor.

“Cash
come and sit
yourself
down,” said Betty. “We’ll go get
those desserts.”

Cash
walked over to the armchair close to the fire and sat.

“Is
it still snowing outside?” asked
Branndon
.

“Oh
yeah, and the wind’s picked up too,” said Cash stretching out his leg.

“So
you get plenty to eat at your uncle’s place?” asked Jennifer.

“More
than enough,”

“Well
you better save some room because Katy made a pumpkin pie. I can honestly say
her last few attempts weren’t that great but I think you’re in luck this year,”
said Connor.

Katy
chose that moment to walk back into the room carrying the said pie. Cash winked
at her. He hoped she hadn’t gone to too much trouble for him. Her mom carried
in another pie and Betty followed behind with a jug of whipped cream.

“Connor
you want to head to the kitchen and pick up the plates and forks?” asked Katy’s
mom.

“I
can do certainly do that,” said Connor standing.

Katy
sat the pie down on the coffee table.

“I
hear you made that yourself,” said Cash.

“I
even bought a real pumpkin. You want a slice or if you
prefer,
a slice of Mom’s pecan pie?”

“No,
I’ll try the pumpkin.”

Katy
cut a slice and then took one of the plates Connor had sat down and set it on
it. She took a fork and handed it to Cash.

“Anyone
else
want
to try the pumpkin?” she asked.

“Guess
I’ll live dangerously,” said her father, winking at Cash.

Cash
liked him a lot. Like the whole clan. He’d love to be part of a family like
this. If he’d grown up in a warm family like this maybe he wouldn’t have run
off like he had to do something just to please his father.

Cash
stabbed his fork into the pie, thinking you could only go forward in life and
not back. Maybe with the help of Katy and her family he’d heal and never look back
at the once broken man.

“Hope
you made a wish,” said Katy.

“Oh
yeah I forgot,” said Cash.

I wish that
every holiday could be like this from now on with Katy and her family.

“Cash,
you given any more thought to coming to work for me?” Connor asked him.

Cash
swallowed the piece of pie so he could answer. It was heavenly. Katy had hit a
home run with her baking.

“My
uncle’s pressuring me to continue working for him in his insurance business.
He’s even told me about a degree I can get and the classes are online so I’m not
sure what I want to do yet.”

“Education’s
a great thing. So is working with your family,” said Katy’s dad.

“Let
me know what you decide but I’d love to have you on board,” said Connor.

Cash
would like to work with Connor but he knew his uncle was going out of his way
to see that Cash had a future in something solid. Cash had often run to him
after his dad had yelled at him or he’d been on the receiving end of one of his
putdowns
.
Loser,
nothing but a loser.
Cash tried to get those words out of his head.
How could two brothers be so different? If only he’d been Uncle Bill’s son
things might have been different.

“Katy
this pie is one of the best I’ve had,” said her dad.

“It
really is,” said Cash.

“Who’s
going to the Black Friday sales tomorrow?” asked Betty.

“I’m
working,” said Katy. “In fact, my help called in sick last night and I’m
guessing she’s going shopping instead.”

“You
want me to help you out?” asked Cash.

“You
okay with that? I mean selling dildos and whips?” asked Katy

Everyone
looked at him and he knew he was blushing.

“Sure
no problem at all,” said Cash. “After the sex toy convention I’m an expert.”

“And
Connor’s promised to play Santa and stop by mid-afternoon to hand out candy
cane flavored condoms,” said Katy.

“I
have not,” said Connor.

“Just
because you’re now the elected sheriff doesn’t mean you have to stop putting on
a good image,” said Katy.

“Honey,
she’s right. In fact, my dad still has his costume, so you can wear that,” said
Jennifer.

Katy’s
dad burst out laughing. “Connor, I think you should do it and get in some practice
for when you have to play Santa to my grandson,” said his dad.

“Just
think this time next year we’ll be grandparents to an eight month old boy,”
said Katy’s mom. “I still can’t believe
it’s
happening.”

“Cherish
the time because it goes so fast and before you know it they’re grown and
having babies of their own. Speaking of which I should be going because I said
Betty and I would drive out to Livingstone to see Mike, Jenny and the kids
tomorrow, and we have to be up early.”

“I
will call everyone on Saturday and we can exchange Christmas gift wants okay?”
asked Betty. “Cash, hope you’ll be spending Christmas with us.”

He
looked at Katy. “I hope so too.”

“We
should get on our way too,” said Connor.

Cash
stood. “Cash, if you’re going to help Katy out tomorrow why don’t the two of
you stay overnight,” suggested her mom.

Katy
loved the fact that her family clearly thought as much of Cash as she did.
She’d had previous boyfriends stop over at Thanksgiving before. Snowstorms had
been brewing outside but they’d never extended them the offer of staying. Her
mom hadn’t mentioned about making up the bed in the spare room so Katy guessed
they had no problem with her and Cash sleeping together.

“Your
parents are great,” said Cash when she’d turned off the lights. They lay side
by side, their bodies touching, and Katy knowing that she wanted Cash to make
love to her. Cash turned on his side and put her arm over her stomach.

“Yeah
they are. I’m lucky,” said Katy. “So how was the rest of your Thanksgiving?”

“My
uncle and aunt are nice people. I’d like you to meet them one of these days. In
fact, they’ve been asking a lot about you.”

“Really,”
said Katy. She turned onto her side so they faced one another. “I’d really like
to meet your family. I’ve already met Ryan and Gracie from her journal and I
think I would have enjoyed their company.” She moved her hand down lower onto
his belly before pushing her hand into the slit of his boxers. Cash’s cock was
rock hard.

“Anyone
ever
tell
you that you have the most wonderful dick in
the whole world?” asked Katy as she nuzzled into his neck.

“Flattery
will get you nowhere,” he said laughing.

“You
feel like putting it to good use?” asked Katy. She wasn’t wearing any panties,
in fact, despite the chilly night she’d decided to sleep al fresco and right
now her thighs were damp with her arousal.

“I
do but your parents are down the hall.”

“We’d
be quiet and my bed doesn’t squeak.” She wanted to fuck him so bad.

“And
how would you know that?” he asked before kissing her.

“I
have not had sex with another man in this bed if that’s what you’re wondering.”

“Glad
to hear that. So you want me to make love to you?”

“Yeah,
right here, right now.”

“I
don’t have any condoms.”

“Then
it’s a good thing I own a sex shop isn’t it?”

Katy
slid out of bed, crossing her fingers that she did actually have at least one.
She rummaged through her bag, finding two in the zippered section at the side.
It was getting cold and a hot guy awaited her in the bed. She hurried back and
slipped under the covers. She was glad to feel that Cash had already slipped
off his boxers.

“Warm
me up,” she whispered into Cash’s neck. He hugged her while kissing her
collarbone. She loved the way her nipples rubbed against the hair on his chest.
He flipped her over onto her back, his minty breath close to her own mouth. He
ran his fingers through her curls and then down into her folds, making a
zig-zag pattern through them until he found her opening. He pushed his finger
inside her.

“Someone
is very wet and hot…”

“And
waiting for your cock,” said Katy finishing the sentence for him.

“And
I’m eager to get in this pussy,” he said. He teased her opening and then
pretended he was going to go all the way in but instead ran his finger over her
pussy and barely crossed its entrance.

Katy
kissed him, pulling on his lower lip and nipping at it. She reached down and
felt for his cock. She wrapped one leg around him, allowing herself to be
opened up to him. Katy playfully took the head of his shaft and ran it around
her slit. Dangerous play she knew but she wanted him to feel her and what it
felt like to be this close to her pussy without a rubber.

“Katy,”
said Cash, smacking her butt. “You’d better hand me that condom because we
don’t want any mishaps and when I’m this close to you I could come at any time.”

Yeah,
he was right.
Relationship first, marriage maybe, and then a
baby.
Cash’s baby.

Cash
flopped over onto his back and pulled down the covers. Katy tore open the
package and handed it to him. Watching as he slid the sheath on with ease.

“I’m
going to fuck you while you’re on your back,” he said.

“You
okay with doing that?”
