But you said I was harmful to your children.” His hurtful words caused more tears.

He lifted his head, his regret clear in his dark eyes. “I know. I was just so scared and hurt I didn’t know how to handle it. I know you would never hurt my children. I know you love them.”
He dropped his head back on her shoulder. “I’m sorry and I’m begging for you to forgive me.”

A smile formed as more tears flowed.
“I’m sorry too.” She locked her arms around him. “I don’t want anything Adam. Just you and your children.”

He lifted his head
again, the torment fading before her very eyes. “Marry me. Now. Right now.”

A
ridiculous laugh escaped her as she gazed at him, feeling happiness for the first time in two days. “I can’t marry you right now. How would we even do that?”

His eyes danced as he smiled. “We can hop the first flight to Vegas.”

“Vegas?” She laughed. He was being so absurd but she did love the way the topic excited him. “We can’t go to Vegas. Do you have any idea what my mother would do? She’d probably castrate you and disown me.”

His thigh muscles tensed as he pressed his legs together and winced. “Ouch.”

“Yeah, ouch. And plus,” She looked into his beautiful eyes. “If I’m going to marry you I want a wedding with flowers and music and cake.”

That one eyebrow lifted. “
The cake’s not going to explode, is it?”

“It may.” She teased.

“Ok.” He brushed his fingers down the length of her hair. “If that’s what you want I will give it to you on a silver platter.”

“Ok,” She playfully sighed, feigning annoyance. “I guess I’ll marry you
then.”

“You gues
s?” The brow lifted again.

“Yes.” She said on a laugh. “I’ll marry you.”

“There’s the excitement I was looking for. Now, we need to figure out how to tell the kids.”

“Oh.” Destiny felt her cheeks flush again
. “We don’t have to worry about that. They already know.”

Adam’s eyes rounded. “They do?”

“Yep. Apparently the way we look at each other gave it away. Well, that and Ali’s heard us leaving each other’s rooms a few times.”

“Wow.” He breathed in astonishment. “And to think I was worried how they would take it.”

Destiny smiled, feeling relieved and happy and loved.

“Well, all they want is for you to be happy and they know that I’ll do whatever it takes to make you happy.
Just as you will me.”

“Oh, you damn right.” He said with a deep growl and Destiny knew exactly what he was thinking.

“And now,” He lowered his head to her neck. “I’m going to take you home and we’re going to make each other very, very happy.”

Her eyes closed as her head tipped back. She just took a moment and reveled in the feel of his soft kisses on her neck.
Savoring it. Cherishing it.

The fear he was lost to her pushed her to tighten her arms around him and silently swear to never let him go.

With a soft breath she said, “Yes Adam. Very, very happy for the rest of our lives.”

Epilogue

“How in the hell did you do it?”

Adam’s brow furrowed as he glanced at his brother next to him when he heard his quiet question.

“Do what?”
Adam asked, barely moving his mouth.

“Stay so calm when you and Destiny got married? I’m sweating, my knees are shaky, my stomach is so knotted that I feel like I’m going to hurl, and I’m a little light headed.”

Adam chuckled as he glanced at his wife who stood across from them. She looked absolutely stunning in her light blue dress that hung just below her knees and flowed over the small pooch of her 4 month pregnant belly. Her dark curls swept up atop her head. She took his breath away just like every time he looked at her.

She must have heard them whispering because she lifted her finger to her smile to shush them.

The day she became his wife a little over 6 months ago played through his head as he gazed at her. She was even more stunning then in her simple, pale pink satin dress held up by two thin little straps. Her dark curls down, blowing in the gentle breeze of the backyard.

She’d been in a mess of worry that day because the sky had clouded that morning and she feared it would ra
in. He remembered talking to her through text message and one of those messages was him telling her that the rain wouldn’t stop them.

The time came and as he took his place next to the pastor, his brother, Ryan, and Jason the clouds shifted and a beam of sunlight
illuminated the entire backyard. At that moment he couldn’t help but think Liz was responsible and watching down on them with her blessing.

Then he remembered he was nervous. He was.
Really nervous. That was until he saw her…

“You
want to know how I was so calm?” He whispered to his brother without breaking the eye contact he had with his wife. “I just focused on my Destiny.”
