He broke the kiss and let her go, in one move. She stumbled slightly and stared at him, her huge eyes wet, her lips bruised and swollen. In that moment, she had never been more beautiful to him.

His heart was bursting from wanting to kiss her again and to never stop.

“Goodbye Kate.
I… goodbye.”

Rhys turned and left the corridor in quick strides. Kate slumped to the floor. This time, nothing would stop the tears and she wrapped her arms around her knees and laid her forehead on them, crying off her make-up in wracking sobs.

It took a long time before Kate stood, picked up her purse, walked to the end of the corridor and went through the emergency exit, never looking back.
