Lonny pressed deeper. “Do you love me?”

“What the hell do you think? That I’d let any good-lookin’ cowboy do the things you have?”

“Not a straight answer.” He lowered her to the blanket, then lowered himself, crushing her to the floor with his weight.

“I can’t breathe.”

He came up on his elbows, but his hips weren’t moving. He was lodged so deep, he couldn’t miss the fact her inner walls were convulsing all around him.

“You’re gonna wait,” she said, her tone flat. “Just like that.”

He gave a crisp nod. “Until you give me the answer I want to hear.”

“That’s not fair.”

“Not giving you a choice in the matter wouldn’t be fair.”

“Got any more surprises you wanna spring on me? Did True and Honey know what you were gonna do?”

“I told them to keep the hands away from the barn.”

She rolled her eyes and groaned. “Lord, everyone knows what we’re doin’.”

“And you’re avoiding the question. You don’t give a shit whether the whole world knows I’m fucking you. Admit it. You get horny at just the thought of getting caught.”

“Do not.”

“Liar.”

She raised her head. “I’m such a liar, why would you trust my answer?”

“Because you’ve been married before. Because you were happy with Daniel and respected your vows. You aren’t a cheater, and you won’t lie to get me to start making you hot again.”

“Then why wait to ask when you have me here, like this?”

“To remind you how good we are,” he said, his face clear of humor, his voice earnest. “To prove to you again that you do it for me, Charli. I don’t need any other woman, won’t ever tire of being with you like this. I’m in this to stay. I’ve already given you my heart. It’s yours to break.”

Sure that was the most romantic thing he’d ever said, Charli cupped the side of his cheek, tears blurring his features. “I never expected to love another man, not as much as I did Daniel. But you’re a persistent bastard.”

His grin was strained. “I never expected to love such a stubborn woman, but you challenge me, make me want to tease and torture you until all the starch is gone—then do it again the next time I see the stubborn tilt of your chin.”

She smiled through her tears. “You don’t care that I have a few years on you? That we might not be able to have a half dozen little proofs of your virility running through the house?”

“I need you, Charli. Just you. I’m tired of being footloose. I’m done with roaming. I want to sleep in the same bed every night with the same woman. I want to grow old with you by my side.”

“There are no guarantees we’ll make it.”

“No, there aren’t. But I won’t take chances, won’t be reckless with what we have.”

“I love you, Lone Wyatt,” she whispered.

“Marry me?”

“I want that more than I want to breathe.” Then she smiled. “Really, I need to breathe.”

He hugged her close and rolled to his back. She arrived on top, her lungs dragging in deep breaths.

“I still didn’t hear a yes,” he said, his mouth pulled into a crooked grin.

The way his face relaxed, his boyish smile so wide and pure, he knew what her answer would be. Still, she’d make him work for it. After all, she couldn’t be that easy. He’d be disappointed if she were.

Tossing back her hair, she began to move, rising and lowering, rocking on his big, thick cock. His large hands smoothed over her skin, touching her breasts, then sliding down. When his thumb stroked her clit, she bounced with a little more enthusiasm.

“Woman, I’ll never tire of this view.”

“Didn’t peg you for a lazy man.”

He chuckled, then began to pluck her clit, squeezing and pulling on it until she felt the flutters in her tummy, the coiling tension tighten and then cinch some more.

“Yes,” she said, her voice muffled because he’d stolen her breath again.

“Didn’t hear you,” he said, giving her a harder pinch.

“I’ll marry you,” she gasped.

“Still not loud enough.”

She slammed down and jerked up, riding him faster and faster. When the pleasure overcame her, she screamed, “Yes! Yes!”

Through the crack in the door, she heard laughter in the distance, sparse applause and cowboys’ whoops. She’d be red-cheeked for days, teased about the enthusiasm of her acceptance, but she didn’t really care. She was marrying a lusty man, one who’d give her more pleasure, more love than she’d ever dreamed she’d know again.

A sob wrenched from her and she slumped against his chest.

His hands glided in the thin sheen of sweat coating her skin. His kiss brushed her temple. He gathered her closer and gave her cheek a smacking kiss. “Let’s go tell True and Honey.”

“Think they don’t already know? Hell, everyone on this mountain heard me.”

His laughter shook her. “Honey’s eager to plan the wedding.”

“Don’t suppose she’ll settle for something simple?”

“She’s going to insist on the works.”

“Let’s elope.”

“Coward.”

Charli shook her head. “I’m a coward and a liar. Doesn’t sound like you’re gettin’ such a great deal.”

“You’re just angling to hear it again, aren’t you?” he said, laughter in his graveled voice.

“Yeah, I am.”

A slap landed on her backside. “Maybe it’ll be a new rule. You won’t hear it until you work real hard for it.”

She laughed and shook her head, knowing he’d think of all kinds of naughty ways to earn those
I love yous
she craved. “I want to call Drew.”

“Since he’s going to be your man of honor, I suppose you should.”

“Think we’ll make it through the reception without you pulling me into the nearest closet to have your way?”

“Wouldn’t be a wedding without a little celebrating.”

So maybe he missed a few buttons on his shirt and she had hay in her hair, but no one seemed to mind their disheveled appearance when they returned to the house. After Lonny made the announcement, True pulled her into his arms and kissed her square on the mouth. When he lifted his head, he winked. “Just gettin’ even with the boy.”

Later, as she and Lonny strolled through new addition to the house, moonlight shining on the wooden ribs of the wall still under construction, it hit her this was really going to be her home. “What about the Lucky K?”

Lonny squeezed the hand he held. “That’s up to you. We can go back as often as you like.”

“I want Drew to have it. It was never my dream.”

“I think it’s a great idea. If you like, I’ll work out the details with him.”

She liked surrendering the burden. Liked that he didn’t mind her leaning on his strength. “A fresh start?”

“A new beginning for us both.” When both of his strong arms surrounded her, he bent his head. “I love you,” he whispered.

Charli marveled over how quickly he’d swept away the gnawing loneliness that had been her companion for so long. “I love you, too.”

“Think we should christen the bedroom right now?”

“Might get some splinters in your backside.”

“Who said I’d be on the bottom?”

She laughed and let him lift her to twirl in the moonlight. The irony of the moment didn’t escape her—that a man named Lone had been the one to fill her lonely heart.

A
Red Hot Winter
Story

True Wyatt’s hands are going to be full enough keeping the herd alive through the dead of winter. The last thing he needs to hear is that his brother Lonny has rented out their isolated hunting cabin to a reclusive writer—especially a sassy, disaster-prone brunette. Who has time to babysit a city girl until spring?

With a deadline looming, erotica writer Honey Cahill is looking forward to six distraction-free weeks to finish her next book. However, between Lonny’s flirty sensuality and True’s hard-edged intensity, the Wyatt brothers set the stage of her imagination for a winter of wicked delights.

The fire that destroys the cabin, though, is as real as it gets. Forced to seek a bed under True and Lonny’s roof, the temptation to experiment—all in the name of research, of course—is overpowering. One night in their arms doesn’t feel like enough; it feels like more. Particularly with one cowboy who fires all her cylinders…

Warning: It’s a Devlin ménage—expect men with stamina and not an ounce of mercy to behave like sex gods, and the lucky woman to love every minute of it. A little domination goes a long, long way…

True Heart:

Honey sat huddled under a blanket on the couch Lonny had moved nearer the fire. He’d found a pair of insulated leggings for her to wear that fit her well enough. Her ass kept them from falling off. The sweater was large, and fell off whichever shoulder she shrugged, but beggars couldn’t be choosers. Her own clothing was salvageable and was in the laundry, but she’d save them for her trip off the mountain once the snowplows cleared the road.

Lonny had checked with the department of transportation and said it might be several days before she could leave. And she was determined to do just that—despite his assurances that she could stay and complete the work she’d come to do.

However, that seemed pointless. She’d saved the thumb drive, but she didn’t have the heart to finish the new story. She was supposed to write something sexy and flirty, but all she had the urge to create was a tragedy.

She knew she was feeling sorry for herself, and she should pull up her big-girl panties and get on with it. But she didn’t have any panties on.

“I have soup.”

She jumped at True’s quiet words. The man could creep up on a ghost. And was that all he had to say?
Seriously?

Honey bit back a retort, recognizing that what she really wanted was to start a fight—with him. She held out her hand and waited while he turned the mug to present her the handle.

A small gesture, but one that fucked with her head. Why be gentle? Why pretend to care whether she burned her fingers? She’d burned down his entire cabin—his quaint little hunting cabin that his father had built years ago. Why wasn’t he furious?

She gulped down a sip of chicken soup and blinked.

“Couldn’t you tell it was hot?”

She blinked away pain-filled tears and aimed a blistering glare his way.

True’s jaw clenched. “I’ll leave you to finish.” He began to turn away.

She bent to set the cup on the floor. “Why are you avoiding me?” If she could have bit her own tongue and swallowed it whole, she would have.

True hesitated. “You’ve been through enough.”

“Don’t give me that crock of—” She glanced away. She wasn’t going to cuss at the man. Wasn’t going to make herself look any more pathetic than she already was.

“I’m guessing now’s not a good time to check on our girl.”

Both Honey and True turned to glare at Lonny whose mouth moved like he was biting his lip. Was he laughing at them?

“Don’t disappear,” True said. “I can’t seem to get anything right.”

“No kidding,” Honey muttered.

Lonny walked deeper into the room, glancing from Honey to True. “I take it you’re feeling more yourself, Honey?”
