“Shhh. This is about me too, baby. And right now I want to see you come again.”

“I don’t know if I can.”

“I think you can.” He pulled his finger from her clit and massaged her moisture into first one sore nipple and then the other. At the same time the fingers still working inside her glanced across her G-spot. She tried to watch him in the window but her vision wavered every time he touched that hidden little bundle of nerves. He was going to kill her at this rate.

“Focus on me, Rebecca. Stay with me.” As if to punctuate his words, he grabbed a nipple and pulled it away from her body in a show of beautiful and torturous pain that combined with the pleasure shooting through her womb. The unrelenting pressure built to another crescendo and she knew he was right.

“I’m going to come, Sir.”

“That’s my girl.” He released the relentless grip on her aching peak and the little rush of blood toppled her. Her sex squeezed, her abdomen cramped and she screamed bloody murder as she came.

Every muscle in her body tensed as she thrashed in his arms. Eventually she came down from the high but…damn. Her body had shattered into a million pieces and her mind buzzed with nothing more than the scent and feel of the amazing man behind her.

Still in a fog, she vaguely noticed Mason releasing the cuffs from her wrists and him scooping her into his arms. He’d wrung her dry and then some. Through half-open lids, she watched him carry her to the bedroom.

“Just a few more minutes, baby, and then you can go to sleep.” He laid her on the bed and disappeared into the bathroom. She couldn’t move. There wasn’t a muscle in her body that didn’t ache from their scene. Her brain still couldn’t wrap around how incredibly thorough Mason was. His warning that he would turn pain into pleasure was not empty.

She was still floating along on his promise of bliss when he returned with a warm cloth and lotion of some kind. He quickly bathed her body and then applied the cream to her wrists, rubbed raw from pulling on the cuffs. When he finished, Mason adjusted her on the bed so her back fit to his front and settled a blanket over them.

“How come we didn’t have sex?”

He chuckled. “You had three orgasms and could barely stand up and you aren’t satisfied yet?”

“No silly, I was thinking about you. You made me come but I didn’t make you come.”

His arms tightened around her waist as he buried his face in her hair. “I’m honored you’re thinking of me at a time like this. However, you’re exhausted and it’s my duty to take care of you. So go to sleep and we can talk about it tomorrow.”

“Okay, Mason, tomorrow,” she mumbled into the blanket.

“Goodnight, babe.”

“Goodnight, Sir.” Rebecca snuggled tighter into his body and let exhaustion take over as she wondered if she passed his test.

Chapter Seven

“Are you really sleeping with that reporter, Mason? Have you lost your fucking mind? We have too much at stake for you to make a mistake like that now.”

Mason glared at Tucker sitting across his dining table. Bloodshot eyes stared back at him. As much as he should hold his temper. he didn’t. “Before I tell you that’s none of your fucking business, I think you’d better take a hard look at yourself. You and Maggie aren’t exactly doing your thing under the radar. What do you think brought a reporter to our doorstep in the first place? I don’t know what bug got up your ass that brought you to my place at two in the morning. But unlike you, the rest of the fucking world operates during the day. So I suggest you lower your voice.”

He didn’t really believe Tucker was at fault for Rebecca’s arrival, but having his first night with her interrupted was not on his to do list. He was all too happy to throw that shit in his face because he was annoyed.

“I can’t sleep. I haven’t since my mother was arrested.”

Mason sighed. That took some of the wind out of his sails. He'd worked up a shitload of mad at his brother for turning up at his place and dragging him away from a sleeping Rebecca in the middle of the night.

“I know you’re worried, but Victor is on it.”

Tucker slammed his fist on the table. “Fuck Victor. He doesn’t know what you and I know. He wasn’t there. We were. And I can’t get it out of my head. I close my eyes and all I can see is the blood on Nina with her hand wrapped around a knife and the dead look in my mother’s eyes when we found her sitting on the stairs with the fire burning around her.

Mason couldn’t forget either.

Their sister.

Nina.

She needed their protection.

With Tucker distraught over his mother’s depression and Levi completely freaked out about his mother’s suicide, Mason took the lead all those years ago and never let go. His need for control had gone far deeper than his brothers' at the time and he used that ruthlessly to get them where they were today.

The inevitable.

As for Mrs. Lewis, for Tucker’s sake, he had a team of lawyers working on her case who would do everything possible to get her out of jail. Personally, he had no feelings on the matter. Other than how the outcome would affect his siblings.

The situation was beyond fucked.

He leaned forward and pushed his fingers through his hair. Truth be told, he still felt a little weak from the blood reduction he underwent earlier in the day and now this wrinkle only added to his fatigue. He suddenly felt old. A lot older than his years gave him.

He lied all those years ago to protect his family, something he didn’t regret for a second. But he learned over time that lies don’t last forever. They came with a fucking unknown expiration date that guaranteed an explosion ready and able to rock his foundation.

The real problem lied in the truth.

Only Nina and Mrs. Lewis knew the solid truth of the night his biological father was killed, but his gut gave him a likely scenario, and he tended to follow his gut. On this subject, he and Tuck absolutely disagreed.

“We just gotta get through this and then we can put it behind us again.”

“That’s just it, Mace. We’re never going to get this behind us. As long as we keep hiding secrets, our lives will always be at risk.”

“The truth is fucked, man. We are damned if we do and damned if we don’t. The best we can hope for is one of us goes down and not Nina or worse. I won’t accept her getting hurt.”

Tucker nodded. “I don’t believe she did it.”

Mason gritted his back teeth and braced for the rest.

“But my mother doesn’t deserve a minute in jail because of that bastard.”

“I’m not having this argument with you again. We’ve agreed to disagree on the situation, remember?” He didn’t stop to let Tucker get in another word. “However, we both knew this day would come. We just didn’t expect it from Savannah.”

“Nina isn’t taking this well either. Her mood swings are back. Something is seriously wrong.”

“Tell me something I don’t already know. Why are you really here? We’ve had this discussion too many times. What couldn’t wait until tomorrow?”

He studied his brother and watched his eyes shift right and then left. Yep, hiding something. Whatever it was, he needed to get it off his chest and until then neither of them were going anywhere.

“This is going to be a long night isn’t it?”

Tucker shrugged.

“I’m going to make coffee until you decide to spit your shit out. Since when did you get so damned wishy-washy?”

“Maggie’s pregnant. And fuck you for calling me wishy-washy asshole.”

Mason froze. Hope welled up inside him before he could tamp it down. He wanted so much for his family and a normal life was certainly one of them.

A baby.

A strange pang inside caught him off guard. For a second he imagined Rebecca all round and happy with his child inside her.

He shook his head and the image disappeared. What the hell? A thirty-day contract with a virtual stranger a family did not make. He was insane to think of anything beyond their agreement.

He sensed as much darkness in her as he harbored and once the news of the corporate takeover he engineered got leaked, he'd be black balled and accused of cheating the company he worked so hard to maintain. Where would he be then?

“I need coffee,” Mason said.

“I’ll take something stronger.”

He hitched his brow at his brother. “I don’t get you? Why is Maggie being pregnant a bad thing? She adores you, you drool in her presence and you just got engaged. Why the hell aren’t you jumping for joy or handing out cigars like an idiot?”

“Think it’s that easy, do you, brother dearest? I’ve got a mother in jail because she probably killed my father. A father whose only real legacy is a twisted as fuck mind that thought impregnating half the county was the one true way to enlightenment, a sister who’s about to fall off the deep end, and a brother playing with fire with the reporter who wants insider info on our family. Of course, I should be ecstatic to bring another child into that mess.”

Mason flipped on the coffeemaker always at the ready and reached in his refrigerator for a beer. “What about Levi? He might end up being the most level-headed of us all. Look how good Hannah has been for him.”

Tucker’s grim expression faded a little at the mention of the adorable five-year-old girl who’d wrapped all of them around her little finger. “Hannah’s different. I think there’s a wise old soul inside that little girl.”

“You’re probably right about that. Little girl’s got a knack for soothing the rough edges around her uncles.” For a few moments they stood in silence, both lost in their own thoughts.

“You haven’t told Maggie about her yet, have you?” They both knew he wasn’t talking about Hannah anymore. It had taken him a little while to dig through the bullshit Tucker kept spouting to figure it out. The problem had nothing at all to do with family. It was Tucker’s own past holding him down, trying to choke the life out of him.

Another road they’d traveled before.

“No,” Tucker said. “Just haven’t had the right moment to talk about it.”

Mason stifled a snort. “There is never a right moment to talk about the past. Why do you think I keep my liaisons short and sweet? I have no intention of letting myself get twisted up with a woman to the point she wants to start digging inside me. Fuck that.”

Tucker took the last swig of his beer and placed the empty on the table. “I take it you made her sign your contract then? How much time did you give this one?”

“Thirty days. That’s all I need.”

His brother shook his head. “That’s cold. Efficient I guess, but cold.”

Chapter Eight

Rebecca slid to the floor and wrapped her arms around her knees. Mason’s words came as no shock. How could they when he pretty much said the same to her. Nothing permanent. Nothing serious.

Non-negotiable terms. In a few weeks he’d walk away and that would be that.

She agreed.

It’s what she wanted.

So why did she feel like shit right now?

Their deep voices carried to her, but she tuned out the rest of their conversation. She’d heard more than enough for one night.

She picked herself off the floor and wandered into the bathroom. A touch of melancholy followed her. Surrounded by opulence she never imagined, she felt farther away from intimacy than ever before. Was this her destiny?

Yet, the scene between her and Mason was amazing and she had the sore body to prove it.

She still wanted more. That was the real kick in the pants. He gave her just enough to make her crazy and now she had to stick around for round two or go crazy wondering forever.

Sex.

She couldn’t stop thinking about what it would be like with a man like him. It had to be different than before right? Rebecca filled a small glass with water and drank it down. No longer parched, she walked back into the bedroom and stared at Mason’s massive bed. The sheets were rumpled and the pillow still showed the indent of his head. She’d never slept with a man before. Not once had she desired to get that close. Her M.O. was to get the hell out the minute a guy got off. Seemed to work for them.

So many of them
.

Rebecca headed away from the bed. Not ready for that yet. Instead she peered out into the night and looked down. Many floors below she spied a lower roof top pool from here with no one in it. Soft lighting filled the space, giving her more than enough to see. She loved the water. She never saw a body of water she didn’t want to swim in. What were the odds of her getting down there without Mason seeing her? She smirked. Not good considering he and Tucker were sitting between her and the door.
