When I reached the end of the counter, I glanced around and noticed a girl sitting at a table all by herself. I grabbed my latte and saw that the coffee girl wrote her number on my cup. I winked at her as I made my way toward the lonely booth girl. She was busy with her
computer and wouldn’t look at me. I observed her for a while, but she was in her own little bubble. “Excuse me, can I sit with you?” The girl moved quickly, like she was startled. I watched as she frantically gathered her things and shoved them into a brown leather messenger bag.

Then she spoke. “You can have it to yourself. I’m done with it.” Her voice was barely above a whisper. I eyed her closely, and she never looked up. She was a small, sweet, scared animal, and she was running to hide in her hole. Her shiny black hair fell over her face as she moved quickly. My fingers itched to touch it. It was silky looking, and fell straight over her very thin, yellow shirt. I caught a smell of her as she left the table, and it took my breath away. She smelled of shampoo, light perfume, and another scent that made my dick instantly harden.

Stunned, I watched her walk to the door, her backside just as mouthwatering as her front. Her hair made a “v” at the bottom and fell to the middle of her back. It was like an arrow pointing to her tight little ass. She looked familiar, but I couldn’t place her. I watched as she scurried to the door and left in a flash. I sat down and drank my latte. I shook my head, smiling as I went over what had just happened. She avoided me. I was curious if she came here all the time; if so I was positive that wouldn’t happen again. Tomorrow I would be prepared and hopefully she’d show and the scared rabbit would hang on my every word.

I finished my coffee languidly. Today I worked with my dad. We shared a veterinary office for the last few years. He always watched me a bit too closely. I needed to be on the top of my game, but instead I felt like hell because I was up all night. I sucked in a deep breath and headed to work. I was neutering animals all morning. This was something they teach so much of in veterinarian school that I could do it in my sleep.

The morning went smoothly, and at lunch, my sister came to visit with me. Jessica was my twin. She was always trying to save me and keep me out of trouble, even when we were kids. She’d take the blame if I got caught doing something wrong. She had two very cute kids, Jasmine and Jack. It was nice to see her, but her kids were busy and she could never stay long. She walked in, handed me my lunch, and sat down across from me. I opened and took a large bite of my sub sandwich as she talked.

“So we moved family night to Thursday. We know you work long hours on the weekends, so we moved it.” I stared at her with my practiced, impassive look. She squirmed in her seat. I wondered why I enjoyed that so much; making people anxious was my expertise. I already knew she hated to upset me, and like the rest of my family, hated to confront me.

“Okay, I will be there.” I made it easy on her. I leaned back in my leather seat, and her surprised expression made me uncomfortably happy, an emotion I wasn’t used to feeling unless it came from my dark place.

“That would be great! Dinner is at six; you can bring Bettina if you like.”

I looked at her, wondering why she’d even make the suggestion. “No. That’s not necessary.”

She started waving her hands. She looked like a nervous chicken. “Well, she’s your girlfriend and a big part of your life. We would all like to get to know her.” Her eyes were drifting all over the room, anxious again.

“No. Bettina will never meet Mom and Dad.” She dropped it after that. My loud, rigid voice had her literally running for cover. She was out of her chair, heading towards the door.

“Sounds good. We will see you Thursday,” she said over her shoulder, shuffling her two kids along as she left my office.

I finished work and headed home. I was in no mood for Bettina tonight. I parked the Jeep at my apartment and took Bo for a refreshing, peaceful, long walk to wind down. When we made it back to the apartment, Bettina was in the kitchen with her arms folded across her chest. I took a deep breath.

“It’s nice you finally decided to come inside.” She was looking for trouble. Bettina had to be the unhappiest person I knew, which never bothered me, until right now.

“Bo and I took a walk.” I maneuvered around her to fill up Bo’s water bowl. My callous response pissed her off even more. She leaned into my stride, but I was careful not to touch her. I knew the game, and I wasn’t going to give her what she wanted. There were dishes in the
sink, so I set his bowl down on the floor and went to work putting them in the dishwasher.

She kept bitching about how I upset her. She wanted to be more of a priority to me. I rolled my eyes as I continued wiping down the counters. She continued to follow me, her voice growing squeakier as I mentally shut her out, sidestepping around her to the patio to feed Bo. I ignored her, which was something I had become really good at.

I trudged to my bathroom, needing a door between us. She followed me in and I just pretended she wasn’t there, tossing my clothes aside and stepping into the cold water. I heard her getting huffier as I began washing myself. I closed my eyes and visions of long, black hair filled my mind. Surprised by the image, I opened my eyes and rinsed off before stepping out and drying off.

Bettina took the cue and left, which I was grateful for since my dick was straining and I didn’t want her thinking it was anything she did. I dragged my tired legs to the dresser to get my boxers before she came back into the room. When I opened the drawer, all of my boxers were gone. I felt my neck veins pop out as I clenched my teeth, and my hands balled into fists. If she wanted the animal in me, that’s what she was going to get.

Bettina
,” I yelled as my muscles began to flex. I stalked to the kitchen, on the hunt for her. She was out on the balcony.

“What the
fuck
did you do with my boxers?” My words fell quiet as I glanced over the rail at the traffic eight stories below and saw my boxers floating down.

“Now you want to talk?” She held up a handful of socks and began to throw one pair over the rail. My eye twitched, anger boiling under my skin. Aggressively, I reached over and grabbed her by her hair, and shoved her back into the apartment.
Fuck, this girl drove me psychotic
. I forced her to the bed and threw her on it. She smiled and it stirred ugly things inside me. I looked away briefly, trying to gain my control when I saw Bo. He tilted his head at me, and for some reason that small movement calmed me. I tied Bettina to the bed, her arms pulled out and up. I placed the belts across her stomach, securing her to the bed, and I tied straps around her knees and pulled them up as well. I stepped back
and looked at my masterpiece, but I felt emotionless. Bettina was posed like a stringed puppet, arms and knees up.

“Do you like to look at me like this?” She was still smirking, her voice like fingernails on a chalkboard. From this position I could see how turned on she was. Her cunt was dripping wet.

I made a beeline for the nightstand, snatching the gag and blindfold out of the drawer. She didn’t see it coming; she was in the middle of telling me I couldn’t live without this connection, couldn’t live without her. She was telling me we were made for each other. I applied the gag first, and then the blindfold.

She didn’t notice when I left the room. My sympathy for her constant need for attention was nonexistent. I needed to eat and get something to drink. I retrieved a frozen meal out of the freezer, threw it in the microwave, and snatched a beer out of the refrigerator. I relaxed at the kitchen table naked and enjoyed my meal in silence. I was craving something stronger, something to take the edge off. I grabbed the bottle of Jack and leaned against the counter. I poured myself a tall glass, finished it off, and then poured another.

When I felt the alcohol fill my body, I treaded over to the balcony and picked up two pairs of boxers on the ground that didn’t meet their fate. I rescued the pairs of socks and put them back in their original spot.

An hour had passed before I returned to the bedroom where Bettina was tied to the bed. I glared at her and felt no spark, no urge to fuck her. She was positioned beautifully, but I found her ugly. I debated throwing a bag over her face or a pillow, but didn’t. She was calmer now, no longer thrashing her head the way she was before I left her. I thought she was asleep. I grabbed a condom, but the way this was going I wouldn’t be able to use it.

I climbed onto the bed, positioned myself between her legs, and closed my eyes. I saw black hair, shiny and long, and my dick was instantly hard. I stroked it with my eyes glued shut. I slipped the condom over the swollen head and down my long shaft. I kept my eyes closed and fucked Bettina hard, picturing the innocent, shifty, blue-eyed girl with the pink cheeks. I pulled out just before I came and opened my eyes. I watched my sperm fill the condom as my penis finished pulsating. I untied her, removed the blindfold and gag, and abandoned the
room, leaving Bettina breathless and smiling on the bed. I cursed myself for my newest low point.

In the morning, I left early and didn’t even wake Bettina. I made my way to the coffeehouse. It was the end of May and it was raining, which was unusual for Northern California. I waited inside the shop by the door, and I kept my eyes out for her. My phone read 7:15 when she appeared, coming from the parking lot. She had a jacket on, and a hood over her head, but I could tell by her delicate walk and her tiny body that it was her. As the rain started to pour, she took off in a run. She did a leap over two puddles with perfect form, and I thought she must’ve been a dancer. She reached the door and I opened it. I heard the end of the cutest giggle.

“Thank you,” she said sincerely, but didn’t look up. She shook herself off at the door, wiping her feet on the mat, and made her way to the table where she sat the day before.

I noticed others watching her, but she didn’t acknowledge anyone, and just continued to clear the table where she sat. She removed the napkins, jars of jams, and sugar. I was intrigued and curious about this girl. I ordered a latte and went to sit near her.

As I passed her table, her smell hit me once again and my eyes rolled back in my head. I felt my cock twitch and press uncomfortably against the zipper of my dress pants. I settled at the table down from her, so I sat directly across, face to almost face if she would just look up. I had a perfect view and took advantage of it, memorizing everything. Her hair was in a ponytail today, her neck was small, and her jaw was feminine and smooth. Her eyes were buried in her computer, so I couldn’t see them. Her small hands looked delicate, and her tiny fingernails were pink. She was perfect in every feature I could see. There was nothing fake. She was beautifully made, like the finest car.

I watched her eyes shift to a man behind the coffee counter as she gave him a small wave. He gave her a wide smile and she returned it. I felt rage towards the man she was smiling at. I wanted to kick his ass over a smile.

My rage ended as I noticed a young man approach the table, just like I did the day before. I wanted to stop him. I wasn’t done observing this beauty yet. I heard him open his mouth, and she frantically packed her things and ran just like the day before. The young man stood there confused for too long, and then his buddies, who were laughing, pulled him to their table.

I closed my eyes, going over every contour of her face in my mind. I could see her ballet dancing in my head, when it came to me. I had watched her dance on stage for three years as a variety of dance princesses. That was Katarina Covington. She was the granddaughter of the man who killed Jacy. I pondered in silence while a mix of emotions crossed over me. I had lost my only love. Sadness hit, and then anger. I had tried to get close to Katarina after that day, but she always had bodyguards around. Today was the closest I had been since the ice cream parlor. Yesterday, I thought she looked familiar because I had studied this girl during the hardest time in my life. I attended all of her recitals and enjoyed watching her dance. It was erotic and hypnotizing. She was good. The best I had ever seen years ago. Katarina was cute then, but now she was drop dead gorgeous. She appeared so different off stage from when she was younger. It had been nine years since the night I first met her. After that, it was bizarre how every longhaired women or girl looked like her. I stopped looking at faces because my mind would blend her face with others. I would convince myself they were related. But this time, I was certain it was Katarina. I grinned at how close we just sat.
Shit…what the heck’s wrong with me?

I left the coffeehouse and sat in my Jeep. Bo’s head bobbled with his breathing as he glanced over at me, his tongue hanging out. He appeared to be smiling. I pulled out my phone and scrolled through my contacts until I found William Ronald. I called him right away and he answered immediately.

“Hey, William, this is Jason.” He was silent for a second, and then greeted me back.

“So I found Katarina in the coffeehouse today.” I was trying to keep the conversation short. William was known for being longwinded, always telling me too much when all I wanted was to get a little info.
