This was pathetic and I knew it,
especially since she had a restraining order against me at one point in time. I
pulled up to her house, but she wasn’t home. I forgot she worked
twelve-hour
shifts. I placed my head in my
hands and sighed. It was definitely time for me to move on. Despite our time
apart,
I still love Savannah more than life
itself, but I knew it wasn’t healthy to keep putting myself through this. I
stayed in her driveway for a minute longer before leaving. I made up in my mind
I was finally ending this chapter in my life. It was just time for me to get my
balls back and move on. They say karma is a bitch and she is showing me just
how much of a bitch she really is.

Chapter 7

Savannah

It’s been well over a week and I
still couldn’t get Brandon out of my head. Seeing him brought back so many
memories, good and bad. I sighed and grabbed the remote. I needed something to
distract me from my thoughts. I should be getting ready for the big party Brian
is having at his club tonight, but I wasn’t in the mood. He’s starting to wear
on my nerves anyway.

Brian is cool, but he’s not
Brandon. He was a distraction in the beginning, but now he’s starting to bore
me. He wants to take things to another level, but I’m just not feeling him like
he’s feeling me. I should be up front and tell him how I feel, but I just don’t
have the heart. My phone began to ring and I kindly ignored it as I continued
to flip through the channels. I settled on watching reruns of Charmed.

I grabbed one of the pillows that
decorated my couch and hugged it to my chest. Don’t do it, I tried to coach
myself, but it didn’t’ work. Tears escaped the corners of my eyes without my
permission. So many questions ran through my mind. I thought we were happy. The
night before he forced me to walk out of his life we’d just talked about building
a family. It almost happened, but he threw it all away in the blink of an eye.

I took out the picture I had
stuffed in my pocket and traced the
outline
of his face. Whitney Houston’s song popped in my mind, ‘Why does it hurt so
bad? Why do I feel so sad? I thought I was over you, but I keep crying.’

Knock! Knock!

The banging on the door startled
me. I jumped and placed my hand to my throat. I stuffed the picture back in my
pocket, wiped my tears and stood up. I wasn’t expecting company.

“Who is it?”

“It’s me.”

I rolled my eyes as I unlocked
the door. “I guess you forgot how to use your phone, huh?”

“Nope,” Roxie said as she
strolled in and walked directly into the living room. “You ain’t ready yet?” She
asked as she sat down on the couch and made herself at home. “What’s wrong with
you?”

“Nothing, and no I’m not ready
because I’m not going,” I said plopping down on the couch beside her. I was
surprised she even agreed to go to the party with me when I mentioned it to
her. I know she doesn’t like Brian.

“Well, that’s cool with me. I
really don’t feel like going anyway,” she said kicking off her Red Bottom
heels.

“Can you even breathe in that
dress?”

“Nope.”

I shook my head. “You are such a
slut.”

“Yep, but my bills are paid, my
hair done and a bitch stay stacked.”

“Yeah, okay.”

“What’s wrong Vee?”

“Nothing,” I
lied
as I directed my attention towards the
television screen.

“Come on Vee. I know you like the
back of my hand. I know when something is up with you.”

I sighed and folded my arms
underneath my breast. “I ran into Brandon last week.”

Roxie never did care too much for
Brandon. The frown on her face clarified that even more once I mentioned his
name.

“Vee, I know you are
not
sitting here crying over his sorry ass.”

“Roxie I can’t help it. You of
all people should understand. That was my A one since day one.”

“Wait, I thought I was your A
one.”

“Roxie, you know what I mean,” I
said with a frustrated sigh.

“No, I don’t Vee. When are you
going to realize that nobody has your back like I do? I told you straight out
the gate how Brandon got down. Did you listen? No. Now you up here moping
around behind his no good ass. You should have left his ass after he cheated
the first time.”

“Forget I even mentioned it.”

“Don’t get mad. I’m just keeping
it cut throat wit you.”

There was more to the story and
Roxie knew it. I wasn’t even about to go there with her because
in my opinion,
she
was being
insensitive. She knew me and Brandon had history. It was
dumb of me to think she would even understand.

“Whatever Roxie,” I said tearing
up. “You know damn well
it’s
more than
that.”

“Look Vee, I’m not trying to
argue with you. I know you don’t
wa
nt to
hear this, but God does everything for a reason. Maybe it wasn’t meant for you
to have a baby,” she said putting her arms around me.

Hearing those words brought on a
fresh bout of tears. I was almost four months pregnant when I miscarried. I
never got a chance to tell Brandon he was going to be a daddy.

“Just leave it alone Roxie,” I
said shaking my head.

There was a pregnant pause. Roxie
continued to hold me in her embrace. It was all good because I needed that
shoulder to lean
on
until she took things
way in left field. The first time she kissed me on my cheek I didn’t think
anything of it, but after the fourth time it became a little uncomfortable.

“You know what I think, I want to
go to this party after all,” I said quickly jumping up. I saw a look of
disappointment dance across her face. “I’ll be right back.”

“You need me to help you pick out
an outfit?” She asked as I walked away.

“No, I’m
good,” I yelled over my shoulder.

Chapter 8

Roxie

I pouted a little when Savannah
decided to break up the special moment we shared. She was vulnerable and I knew
I almost had her. It was no secret how I got down in the sheets, but don’t get
it twisted, when it comes to women I don’t eat twat. I tell them straight up if
you want to do me that’s fine, but don’t expect me to return the favor.

Savannah would be
the exception.
I can’t help my attraction to
her. I’ve been in love with her since I was seven-years-old. My life was fucked
up. My father was an alcoholic and my mother was a wanna be elite socialite. We
lived in a nice neighborhood and that’s only because my grandmother died and
left my daddy the house.

He made my life a living hell.
Every day
he’d come home and beat me just
because. To make a long story short, we were dead broke. My father lost his job
due to his heavy drinking and my mother was too busy spending money that we
didn’t have to fit in with the rich and famous. Needless to say, we barely had
enough money to feed ourselves. We didn’t have any running water, and we often
had to live without electric.

I was the schools fun
dummy
because I was forced to go to school with
dirty clothes,
a not
so pleasant smell
because we had no running water. My classmates never let me live it down
either. I used to be so embarrassed to have to go to school with the same
clothes on for three days straight because my mother was too busy spending the
little bit of money we did have and my father was too busy getting drunk.

That all changed when Vee and her
family moved in next door to us. She stuck up for me when no one else would.
The teachers wouldn’t even take the time out of their busy schedules to help
me, but Vee did. I remember praying to God every night and he finally answered
my prayers when Vee came along. She was like the sister I never had and her
parents were like the ones I always wanted. They looked out for
me
and have always treated me just like their
own.

“I’m ready,” Vee called out
interrupting my trip down memory lane.

I looked up and the pearl between
my legs began to pulsate. She looked cute with her hair styled into a bun on
top of her head. She wore a
cream-colored
belly shirt, blue
shorts,
and gold
gladiator sandals. Large gold hoop
earrings
dangled from her ears. She is so beautiful with her bright eyes and long curly
eyelashes. Her thighs were toned and inviting. Her ass wasn’t as big as mine,
but it was just enough to fill out the shorts she had on.

“You ready?” She
asked
as she browsed through her purse.

“Yeah,” I sighed. I really wasn’t
in the mood to go because I knew Brian would be there. I couldn’t stand his
corny ass. I had a feeling I was going to be the third wheel.

“Let’s bounce.”

Just like I thought, I was the
odd man out. Brian and Vee were out on the dance floor
acting like
they were so in love. Vee was smiling all up in his
face like she wasn’t crying over her
ex, hours
ago. I took a sip of my drink and carried my ass back to the table.

I was getting play from dudes
left and right, but I wasn’t in the mood to entertain or be entertained. I was
in my feelings right now. I should have talked Savannah out of coming. I’ve had
enough of Brian already, it was time to stop talking about it and be about it.

Hey,
chick you having fun?” Vee asked as she sat down next to me. I watched her
breast jiggle as she sat down. Brian was right on her ass like flies on shit.

“Lots,” I replied sarcastically.

The club wasn’t even all that in
my opinion. Nothing really stood out about it. Yeah, it was big and had a few
different sections with music for the young, old and
in between
. They had a little restaurant area. I mean the food was
alright nothing to write home about. He may have a little clout because we got
to chill a little bit with Rick Ross in VIP, but who really cared. I know I
sound like I’m hating but it’s not that serious.

“Come on Roxie don’t be like
that,” Savannah nudged me.

“What?” I asked shrugging my
shoulders. “I said
I’m
having
lots
of fun,” I said taking another sip
of my drink.

“I’m going to grab something to
eat. Y’all want anything?” Brian asked more to Vee than me, but I didn’t care.

“No, baby I’m good,” Vee said.

“You,” Brian asked.

“Yep. I’ll take the hot wings
with ranch dressing and hold the
spit,
please.”

He smirked and nodded his head.
“I’ll be right back baby,” he said bending down giving her a kiss on the lips.

My insides started boiling and I
had to look away. I couldn’t stand his ass. After their little moment was over
I watched him walk away. He had his nose in the air like his shit didn’t stink.
I looked at Vee. She had this look on her face like she was floating on cloud
nine. I knew just what to say to wipe that goofy ass expression off her face.

“Guess who I just saw?” I asked.

“Who?” She asked as she bounced
to Beyoncé and Jay Z’s, ‘Crazy in Love.’

“Brandon,” I lied.

She stopped dancing momentarily
and shrugged her shoulders like she didn’t care, but the look in her eyes said
something different. “So.”

“Just thought I would let you
know. I didn’t want you running into him.”

“Was he with someone?” She asked.

As I looked into her
eyes,
I knew I was about to crush her heart, but
this was necessary. “Yeah,” I replied coolly as I took another sip of my now
watered down drink.

She sat back and folded her arms
underneath her breast. My mission had been accomplished. I knew it wouldn’t
take long. I’ll give her a good five to ten minutes and I knew she would be
ready to go.

Brian finally came back ten
minutes later with my wings. Vee still hadn’t said anything, but I could tell
by her demeanor she wanted to bounce. Brian wasn’t alone this time when he came
back. I remained silent waiting for a formal introduction of his company, but
none came. He handed me my food and directed his attention towards Vee. I guess
he could tell something was up with her too.

“What’s wrong baby?” He asked as
he sat down next to her and wrapped his arm around her shoulder.

I bit the inside of my jaw to
keep myself in check. Just the sight of him touching her had me fuming with
anger.

“Hey sexy.”

I looked to my right and curled
up my lips. I really was not in the mood, “Hey.” I tried to ignore him because
I was trying to ear hustle over the music to see what was going on with Vee and
Brian.

“I’m Prince,” he said scooting
closer to me invading my personal space. “I’m Brian’s little brother. He is too
preoccupied with your girl over there I guess, but he still could have
introduced us.”

At first I wasn’t interested, but
now I was all ears. I turned around and gave him my million dollar smile, but
before we could start a decent
conversation,
Vee whispered in my ear that she was ready to go.

Dayum, I said to myself.

“Sorry, I have to go,” I shrugged
my shoulders as I stood up.

“Aye, can I get your number?” He asked
grabbing me by the arm.

“Sure,” I smiled. I shelled out
the digits effortlessly.

“I’ll walk you to the car,” Brian
said grabbing Vee by the hand.

I rolled my eyes and watched as
Vee said nothing, but nodded her head. Brian and Vee led the way with me and
Prince tagging behind them. He was talking my damn ear off like he was hard up
for some pussy or something. It was a turn off because he was trying too hard.

The other dude, I think I heard
Prince call him Ace said nothing. Now he was more my speed. He was tall, dark
and handsome. He looked a lot like Brian just a much better version. I could
tell he appreciated my
body
because as
soon as I stood up his eyes freely gave my body the once over. I gave him a
suggestive nod, but he didn’t return the favor. He was loyal. He must have
known Prince wanted me.

As we made our way through the
crowd, luck must have been on my side. I was lying my ass off when I said I saw
Brandon in the club with another girl, but here he was bright as day dancing
and grinding on the next bitch. I didn’t even have to see Vee’s facial
expression. Her body language said it all. She looked back at me and hauled
tail to the exit. Brian did all he could to keep up with her.

“So, can I call you
sometime
?” Prince asked trying to be sexy I
guess. He kept licking his lips every five
seconds
like he was LL Cool J or something.

“I gave you my number didn’t I?”
I asked still trying to ear hustle as we stood outside of Vee’s truck, but I
couldn’t hear well because they were whispering. I wasn’t feeling that, like
they were trying to be all secretive and shit.

“You got jokes I see,” Prince
said rubbing his hands together as he looked me up and down like he wanted to
devour me or something.

“You ready?” Vee asked me.

“Yeah,” I said.

“I’ll see you later,” I heard her
say to Brian.

“See you,” I said over my
shoulder to Prince as I turned around ready to get in the truck.

“Wait, can I get a hug?” He
asked.

“Sure,” I said, sucking my teeth.
He was so damn thirsty. I turned around intending to give him just a quick hug,
but he grabbed me in a bear hug. He held onto me like he actually knew me.

“Okay,” I said removing myself
from his embrace.

“My bad,” he said laughing as he
stood back and gave me some breathing room. “It’s just that I feel a connection
to you already.”

I guess he thought I was born
yesterday. That corny ass line didn’t even faze me. “Bye,” I said as I hopped
in the truck beside Vee.

“I’m a call you,” Prince said
placing an imaginary phone to his ear by using his pinky and thumb finger.

“Okay,” I mouthed before turning
my attention back to Vee. “You good?” I asked.

“Yeah, I’m straight.”

“Is it because of Brandon?”

“No.”

I could tell she was lying, but I
didn’t press the issue. “You want me to stay with you tonight?”

She shook her head no. “Brian’s
coming over later.”

I frowned. “What?”

“Brian is coming over later,” she
repeated as if I didn’t hear her the first time.

I folded my arms underneath my
breast and shook my head. I looked out the window and allowed my thoughts to
race through my head. It was time for me to put some shit in motion.
