He stopped to look at her. “Really? How did that conversation go?”

“She wanted to know where I am. Supposedly, the gang was looking for me last night. She went as far as to show up at my house, and when I wasn’t home she started blowing up my cell phone. Then she scolded me for hooking up with some guy I really don’t know, and ordered me
not
to bring him to Baltimore for your party.”

Blake chuckled, taking a sip of his wine.

“You don’t seem at all surprised by this story.” She picked up her cloth napkin and threw it at him. “Spill it, Blake!”

He dodged the napkin and looked at her with a grin on his face. “She called me at work after she spoke to you.”

“Oh Lord, I can only imagine how that conversation went. What did she say?”

“She told me you hooked up with some guy last night. You seemed ‘smitten’ with him.”

Donia could feel her face growing warm.

“She also said I shouldn’t worry about it because she would make sure you didn’t bring him to Baltimore and ruin my birthday.”

“Why would my bringing a date to your party ruin your day?” She tested him.

“You have to ask?”

“We said we would talk about this,” she said quietly.

He drained his wine and looked at her. “It’s not a big surprise. I’ve had feelings for you for a long time. I’ve tried to talk to you about this before. It seemed like the more I tried the more you pushed me away for some other man. I didn’t want to loose you as a friend, so I sat by to help pick up the pieces when all these other guys either turned out not being the one and you left them, or they turned out to be assholes and broke your heart.”

“Like Daryl,” she murmured.

“Exactly like that douche bag. If it wasn’t for Lana holding me back, I would have ripped that guy’s face off the way he treated you that night.”

She reached across the table laying her hand on his. “For every time you were there for me and I never said it, thank you. I should never have taken that for granted. It took you leaving to realize how I felt about you.”

“How do you feel?”

She stared at him, wanting to say the words, but not knowing how. She knew she was falling for him and everything about him. His gorgeous face, gentle kisses, warm, steady caresses, encouraging words, the way he held her, the way he patiently looked at her, waiting to hear her reply. She sighed deeply. “You’re getting to me, Blake,” she said, looking away from him. She couldn’t say how she felt, not quite yet. He squeezed her hand letting her know he would let her off the hook for now, but this subject would be revisited in the near future.

Blake wanted it all and she knew he wanted it with her. Lana and their other friends had let her know on more then one occasion how Blake felt about her. She wanted to hear it from him herself. Maybe that would give her the courage to say it back to him. “Oh, Blake!” She suddenly realized. “You didn’t tell Lana I was here did you?”

A grin plastered across his face. “What, and spoil all this fun?” She breathed a sigh of relief. “No, I didn’t tell her. I acted like I hadn’t heard from you. I even went as far as to act concerned and hurt that you were starting another relationship. Especially when she mentioned his name is
Amazing.”

She groaned.

I can’t believe she told you that.”

Chapter Thirteen

“Happy Birthday, sexy,” she murmured against his ear, after an incredible morning romp.

“It most certainly is happy.” He smiled. “Don’t think I ever started a birthday quite like that.” His hand brushed at the underside of her plump breasts. “I think I could start every morning like that.”

She giggled next to his ear.

He was in love with this woman. If she didn’t realize that by now, he had to find a way to tell her. Showing her in every way and position possible wasn’t enough. He had to say the words he wanted to say for the last two years.
I’m crazy in love with you, Donia.
He didn’t want to compete for her affection anymore. After getting a taste of this precious woman he was done playing second fiddle. He would kick ass and take names of any other man that tried to weasel their way into her life.

“Hey.” Her warm palm touched the side of his face. “Are you okay?”

“Yes, I’m fine, just got lost in a thought.”

“I asked if you had to go to work on your birthday. I really don’t want you to go.”

He smiled at her. “Why, what do you have in mind for me instead?”

“I can think of a number of things.” She kissed across his jaw, finding his lips.

“You make it so hard for me…”

She ran her palm over his stiff erection.

“Okay, in more ways than one,” he moaned. “Mmm, baby.” He snagged her wrist. “If I knew you were coming to Baltimore early, I would have cleared the rest of my week. But, I scheduled meetings and I have to go in this morning.”

“Really? Damn it.” She pouted.

He welcomed her kisses, letting her wrist free so her hand could continue its journey.

“Just let me wish you happy birthday one more time before you have to shower and go.” She swung her leg over his lap, sliding her warm pussy over his waiting cock.

She waited till he left for work to shower and get dressed. She was running the flat iron through her hair, when her cell phone rang.
Damn it,
she thought looking at the caller ID. “Hello, Lana,” she said, bumping the edges of her hair under with the iron.

“Seriously, where are you?”

“I told you…I-I’m taking…a short break with a guy I met,” she answered, stammering around the words.

“You are lying and I want to press the hell out of you for the answers. Are you in town?”

She rolled her eyes. “No, I’m not.”

“I really hate that you are going down to Baltimore by yourself.”

“I’m fine, Lana, really.”

“We are best friends, and you are hiding something, I know it.”

“You can’t just be happy for me?”

“No! I know you and past relationships have been rocky and emotionally unsettling for you. I’ve always been there. You know I have your back.”

“Thanks, Lana.”

“I’m not saying it to be mean. I’m saying it because I’m worried. You’ve been staying with this guy for two days now. How well do you really know him? Is it safe to be staying with a guy you really don’t know?”

“Lana, I’m a big girl. I’m okay. If this blows up in my face, I give you all permission to kick my ass. But, for right now just be happy for me and trust that I’m okay.”

“Okay,” she said slowly. “Just know that I love you, and I’m worried about you.”

“Thank you, sweetie. I love you too.” She reached for her lipstick. “Now can we talk about Blake? What do you think he wants for his birthday?” she asked, liking the new glow on her face. That had to be him. That look was not there a few days ago. In fact, she had looked almost pale.
Nothing that a good roll in the sack can’t cure.

“Besides wanting you?” Lana asked.

“Stop.” She blushed knowing her friend could not see her.

“I talked to him yesterday. I think he is more infatuated with you than he has ever been.”

“Really? Why do you say that?” She slowed making up her face.

“Just my own instinct. I told him you may be seeing someone new. He got really quiet. He didn’t seem too concerned, but I know he was just torn up about it.”

No need for concern when that someone new is him. “
I’m sure he is fine. He may even have a new girl himself in Baltimore now.”

“I know when he first moved there he was checking out the dating scene. Since then he hasn’t talked about anyone new. Judging his reaction to you dating someone, I don’t know, I doubt he’s seeing anyone,” Lana disagreed. “You really should just call him and talk to him.”

“I will see him this weekend.”

“I hope this weekend turns out okay. I mean with you thinking about some other guy, he will be miserable.”

“You have thought about this way too much. We will be fine. Now I’m going to let you go and I will see you tonight.”

“Are you sure—”

Donia cut off her friend’s protests before she could even continue. “I will see you tonight.”

“Is Blake Warren here?” she asked the receptionist.

“Yes, he is in his office. May I tell him who is asking?” the young twentysomething asked.

We are… Damn, what are we? Nothing had ever been defined. Two days ago they were barely talking. A month before
they were close friends.
“He is a really good friend. I just wanted to come surprise him on his birthday.”

“Oh, okay.” The young woman looked her over. “Does he know you are coming?”

“No, it would ruin the
surprise
.”

The girl narrowed her eyes at her. “Okay, his office is in the back corner. He may be in with someone, but if you knock I’m sure it will be fine.”

“Thank you.” She smoothed a hand over her red wraparound dress and walked back in the direction of his office. His door was shut. She knocked lightly and waited from him to answer. “Come in.” She heard him yell out. She quietly opened the door and slipped in. An attractive man, about the same age as Blake, sat on the opposite side of the desk. He turned to look at Donia.

“Donia?” Blake said. Standing, he came around the desk closing the distance between them immediately. “Hey.” His voice dropped an octave, causing her heart to skip a beat. His gaze moved over her dress. “You look…great.”

“Thank you. I thought I’d come in to surprise you on your birthday and see if you are free for lunch.”

“For you, absolutely.” He took her hand and moved her to him. He lowered his head to kiss her.

“Um, you still have company,” she whispered against his lips.

He chuckled. “Sorry, I lost my mind when you came in the room.” He turned to the man, regarding them with amusement.

“Don’t mind me.” He chuckled and stood, walking over to them. “I guess you are the beautiful Donia I’ve heard so much about?”

She took his hand. “Guilty as charged.”

“I’m Austin, his coworker. We were just going over some numbers, but I know when to take the hint and get out of here. I will see you tonight at the party,” he said, walking toward the door. “Hey you two, don’t get in trouble in here.”

Chapter Fourteen

Donia was a sight to be seen in the formfitting red dress and strappy, high-heel shoes. Austin could not leave his office soon enough. The minute he closed the door, Blake pulled her into his arms and closed his mouth over her sweet lips. He felt her body conform to his, pressing her soft breasts against his chest. His dick grew uncomfortable behind his black dress pants.

He ripped his mouth from hers. “Hmm. That was some kind of kiss.”

“Mm-hmm,” she said licking her lips and backing away from him.

He wagged a finger at her knowing the look on her face. “I’m at work. We can’t go all the way right now.”

“We can’t?” She pouted.

He felt cock stir. “What are you doing?”

She turned and locked the door leaning her body against it. “What are you talking about?” His gaze dropped to her hand as she unbuckled the sash that held her dress together. “I’m not doing anything at all.” She teased.

God in heaven, she is stripping in my office.
He watched the dress fall to the floor, leaving her standing in a black lace bra and matching panty set. The bra did little to hold her breasts and his mouth started to water at the sight of her erect nipples pushing through the delicate fabric. “You’re killing me.” He breathed harshly, as she walked toward him. Still wearing the high-heel pumps, her legs appeared to go on and on. Hypnotized by the sashaying of her body, he didn’t move from the spot in the middle of his office until her hand landed on the button of his pants. He let out a sharp breath when her other hand cupped his taut balls through the fabric of his pants. She didn’t take her eyes off his as she massaged him to a stiff, uncomfortable erection.

“How about a birthday quickie?” she whispered.

“Baby, we can’t…”

She kissed him quieting the negative answer. “We will be quick. We will be quiet,” she said close to his lips as she flattened a hand to his chest and gently pushed him back to his chair.

“I can’t promise I’ll be quiet,” he growled, reaching around her to squeeze her ass. “Fuck, is that a thong?” he asked, trying to peer over her shoulder.

“A thong makes it easier to pull aside and handle our business,” she said pushing him into his chair. She unzipped his pants and pulled his throbbing erection from his boxers. “Someone is ready to play.” She grinned at him.

“You are going to torture me aren’t you?”

“Of course not, would that be nice to do to you on your birthday?”

“It is something you would do.” He laughed. “Get over here,” he said trying to grab at her. She sidestepped his touch.

She stood to full height and flicked at the clasp holding her bra together in the front. Her breasts freed in front of his face. He reached out and ran a finger over a hard nipple and she gasped.

“I said, come here,” he said, this time more sternly.

She raised a brow. “Yes, sir,” she replied in a sexy tone. She moved to straddle him on the large leather hair. The same nipple he touched, found itself devoured by his hot mouth. His hand massaged her other breast, causing her head to fall back. She held on to his shoulders attempting support. “Ahh, Blake. You keep that up, I can’t promise I will be quiet much longer.”

“You started this, baby. I told you we shouldn’t do this here. You’re going to get what you asked for…and, Donia.” He waited until she opened her eyes to stare at him, her eyelids heavy with desire. “You…better…be…quiet,” he demanded.

He dipped his free hand into her thin panties, finding her heated opening. Two of his fingers hooked and entered her quickly. His palm moved over her clit causing her to moan. He licked and teased her nipple as his fingers darted in and out of her. He felt her wetness against his opened hand. She was on the edge of orgasm and he loved the way she squirmed atop him, trying to remain quiet. Right before she yelled her release, he removed his mouth from her nipple causing a
pop
from the ease of suction.
