“You’re the most beautiful girl, besides your
mother, I’ve ever seen.”

She smiled. “You’re supposed to say that. You’re my
dad.”

“No, I don’t have to say that. It’s the truth.” He
stroked her hair and smiled down at her. “You’ll be the most glowing bride
ever.”

Vicki rubbed her stomach. “I’m having twins, Dad. I
look like an elephant.”

“I imagine Tristan would be very annoyed to hear you
say that.” Richard let out a sigh. He took a seat in the nearest chair and
stared up at her. “I’ve always dreamed about giving you away. You deserve a
good, honest man, Vicki. I don’t want to think about the rest of it.” He let
his hand drift to her stomach and then back up. “I never thought a man would be
good enough for my girl.
Tristan,
is totally in love
with you. I see it written on his face every time he looks at you. I couldn’t
ask for a better man to love you.”

“Dad, I’m going to cry.”

“I’m also looking forward to one of your little ones
being a girl so Tristan can go through the exact same thing as I am,” Richard
said.

Vicki chuckled, rubbing her stomach.

“Now, I think it’s time I took you down to your
man.”

He held his arm out ready for her.

“Thank you, Dad. I know this was hard for you,” she
said.

“No, it was hard not kicking his ass.”

She held onto his arm tightly as they walked down
the stairs of her home. Her mother, Zoe, and Cheryl were waiting at the bottom
of the stairs. Zoe held a little baby boy in her arms.

“Come on, ladies, nothing is going to go wrong on my
watch,” Ellen said.

One by one they were lead out to the main reception
area. The sun shone down from the sky. The music filled the town square, and
everyone seated turned in their direction.

“Do you want to back out?” Richard asked.

“What?”

“I’ve got Stefan on call if you want to go?”

They took a step forward, and Vicki got her first
real look at Tristan. He was dressed in a suit, and he looked so handsome.
There was no chance of her backing out. Tristan Carmichael was her future.

“I guess not.”

“Besides, Stefan’s hoping this moment will weaken
Marla enough to go out with him.” Marla had been fighting off the attentions of
Stefan and Kevin ever since Tristan left town. Vicki felt sorry for the older
woman. Stefan and Kevin together were a deadly combination. The last time she’d
spoken to Stefan he was talking about inviting Kevin to join the Law Castle Bad
Boys. Poor woman didn’t stand a chance. The moment Kevin became a Bad Boy the
two men would be working together.

“That’s true.”

Her father and mother had returned to Law Castle for
the wedding. They were staying into later in the year. Vicki knew they were staying
to make sure her pregnancy went by without a hitch.

They walked down the aisle slowly. Tristan didn’t
drop his gaze once. She smiled at him as she approached. When she got to where
he stood, Richard gave her hand to Tristan. After kissing her on the cheek her
father took the seat beside her mother.

“Are you okay?” Tristan asked.

“I feel fat.”

“You’re gorgeous, and if you call yourself fat again
you’re going over my knee.” Her body melted at the thrill of his words. She
loved it when Tristan went all Dom on her. They’d been exploring the Dom/sub
lifestyle together. Tristan stopped the moment he heard about her pregnancy. He
refused to put her at risk. His words were the first threat he’d given her.

How could his words be a threat when she hoped he’d
carry them out?

“I look forward to it,” she said.

Together they faced the minister as he read out the
words. She felt the strength of Tristan surround her even as he held her hand.
There was nothing holding her back from their future together.

When the time came for them to say the words “I do”
Vicki said the words, feeling so much love inside her.

The town erupted in cheers as Vicki Burke became the
wife of Tristan Carmichael.

Twenty-one
years later

Vicki chuckled as Tristan was pacing the sitting
room. She was fixing a button to his shirt while he was stressing about their
twenty-one-year-old daughter, Elizabeth, out on her first date.

“I don’t like the look of that boy. There is
something off about Jason.”

“Jason is Zoe, Jake, Connor, and Brent’s eldest boy.
There’s nothing wrong with him, and Elizabeth has been crushing on him for some
time. You better not spoil this for her,” Vicki said.

They’d been married for twenty-one years, and their
love was as strong now as it was back then.

“He’s a man like all the others,” Tristan said.

“You should know. You’re a man with certain needs.”
She found the whole episode amusing.

“No man is good enough for my daughter,” he said.

She finished tying the button to the shirt. Getting
up from her seat she ran her hands over his body. Urging him down to the sofa,
Vicki straddled his lap. “Elizabeth has her brother to keep her company. Eric
wouldn’t let anything happen to her. Now, I seem to recall my father giving you
the exact same lecture.”

“It’s not the same,” Tristan said, chuckling.

“It’s not?” She raised an eyebrow waiting for him to
elaborate.

“I wanted to get into your pants,
and
I was in love with you.”

“Then let Elizabeth fall in love.” She pressed a
kiss to his cheek.

“I’ve turned into a nagging old dad, haven’t I?”

“Yep.”

“God, I love you so much.”

“I bet you’re pleased you gave into what you thought
was the biggest mistake of your life.”

“You, Vicki Carmichael, are the best thing that ever
happened to me. You gave me love and a reason to fight for my life back.” He
pressed a kiss to her lips.
“How long before the others wake
up from their nap?”
They had another set of twins who were only ten
years old. Their boys were not known for sleeping for long.

Vicki smiled. “We’ve got long enough.”
