When Butch comes back to the room, I can tell that he is mad about whatever happened in the meeting with that other biker. Thinking about his eyes, I can’t help but grin. My god was he something to stop and stare at. He was nothing like the boys I knew before, and I sure as hell would never think that rugged biker would be something that would turn me on, but he so did.

Butch doesn’t say one word to me, and I know that whatever must have been said in that meeting wasn’t good for him. He sits on the edge of the bed, and just stares off into space until Striker comes back. As soon as he’s through the door, he tells me to get up, and follow him.

Quickly getting to my feet, I do as I’m told. When I look back at Butch, I can see his eyes widen, when he figures out where I’m going. Looking between them, I stop Striker, and ask him what’s going to happen.

His left hand cups my cheek, and he looks into my eyes. “Not sure babe, but Raef wants to see you.” My eyes widen, and I’m pretty sure I look like a fish out of water. I keep trying to say something, but I can’t get the words to come out of my mouth.

“He won’t hurt you,” he whispers, as he pulls me closer to him.

“Fuck that. I’m not letting him go near my sister,” Butch yells into the small room.

Striker turns his attention on Butch, and gives him a look that says shut the fuck up. “You and I both know that it isn’t our choice. He’s a Davoli, and they pretty much run this fucking club. Prez can’t even put a stop to it if he wanted to.”

Striker grabs my hand, and practically drags me out of the room. Can he really have that much power? I don’t get why my brother is afraid of this Raef guy.

“What do you mean the Davoli’s pretty much run this club?” I ask, as we walk down the hall towards another room.

“His grandfather is the one who started the Wayward Saints, and his old man is the one who expanded it, and made it what it is today. His oldest brother is the next in line for president, and there is talk that it’s probably going to be happening sooner than later.”

When we stop in front of the big wooden doors, I can’t help but stare at the door I’m standing in front of. “Are you sure I’ll be okay in there?” I ask, looking up at him.

He kisses the top of my head, and nods. “Whatever you do, don’t lie to him. He always seems to figure it out when people lie to him.”

Swallowing the lump in my throat, I nod my head, and Striker opens the door for me. He practically pushes me inside, and closes the door behind me. Way to throw me to the wolf, dickhead.

Looking around the room, I can feel myself start to sweat with how nervous I am. When I see him sitting on the far end of the table, I try to decide where I should sit, or if I should just stand. Shit, I have no idea how to act around someone that has this much power in this club. My extent of club information is that both Butch and Striker are members. I know that Striker is a member that’s higher up, but that’s about it.

When my eyes finally land on him, I see him watching me. He’s even more handsome than I thought. Closing my eyes, I take a deep breath before I open them, and actually look at him.

The grin on his lips makes me nervous, and part of me is unsure of what I’m supposed to do right now.

“Please take a seat,” he finally says. He motions his hand towards the chair next to him. A part of me is afraid to walk by him, so I take the long way around to the other side of the table. I pull the chair out a few feet before I take a seat.

“I won’t bite darlin’,” he drawls out. He gets a devious grin on his face, and I know that he’s probably used that line to get plenty of women in his bed at night.

“Does that line work on all the girls?” I ask with an eyebrow raised. I don’t know where that snottiness came from, but I am mentally high fiving myself right now. I can’t believe that I just said that to him.

I watch as his eyebrow raises, and he smirks at me. “Typically I just tell them how big my dick is, and they practically drop to their knees in front of me.” I scrunch up my nose, and his smile widens even more. “What are you afraid of a big dick?”

I shake my head no, and look at my hands in my lap. I can feel him lean in closer to me, and as much as I want to pull away, I stay right where I am. I won’t let him scare me, or make me nervous. I’ve dealt with someone far worse than him for long enough.

His hand cups my face, almost in a loving manner, and he forces me to look at him. “What kind of trouble are you in?” His voice is soft, almost like he’s trying to make me comfortable. His eyes search mine, and I swear it’s like he already knows the truth.

“I want to help you, but I can’t if you don’t tell me the truth. All of it,” he runs his thumb along my bottom lip, and as much as I want to pull away, something about his touch soothes me. Leaning into his hand, I mentally prepare myself to tell him what I’ve gotten myself into.

“Three years ago, I met a man named Marco. I thought that he was going to be
the one
, but after two years, I figured out the type of man he really was. He is part of the mob and he started trying to control me. When I refused, he would make me pay.” A tear slides down my cheek, and he wipes it up with his thumb.

“What did he do to make you pay?” His voice is low and deadly, and when I look into his eyes again, I can see the anger. Maybe someone he knows was hurt by someone like Marco before.

“He didn’t leave bruises, but he always did a number on me.” His nostrils flare, and his eyes look like they are on fire.

“I promise you, he will never put another hand on you again.” I sag in relief in my seat, and he scoots his chair closer to me. “Darlin’ why did you run now?” His question is so simple, but so complicated because I don’t really know an answer, except that I wasn’t going to let him sell me to someone. Why did I stay with him for as long as I did, even though he hit me? Hell, I don’t even know the answer to that.

“He sold me to someone else,” I choke out on a sob. He pulls me into his arms, and I bury my face into his neck.

My tears are soaking through his shirt, but he doesn’t even seem to mind. He moves the hair off my face, and looks at me. “Everything will be okay. But, you’re going to have to tell me everything that happened, and how you know he sold you.” Thinking back to the moment I ran, I can feel my body start to tense up. Marco is going to be pissed when he wakes up, and finds out that I’m gone. He won’t just let me leave. He’s going to bring me back kicking and screaming, the whole way.

“Okay,” I whisper.

“Good Darlin’,” he murmurs against my hair.

“My name is Sailor,” I say shyly. Yeah, I just cried on his shoulder like a teenager, but him knowing my name is what makes me nervous. What if he is just lying to me about helping me? Taking a deep breath, I try to focus on his words, and not what my brain imagines.

My mind keeps thinking that I’m only worth as much as someone will apparently pay for me, even if that is not what I know is right.

“I’m Raef,” he says, pulling me into his lap. He wraps his arms around me protectively, and for the second time in a while, I feel safe.

Chapter Three

Having this girl in my arms makes me feel like I’m more than the club. It’s something that I’ve never experienced. I’m not saying that it’s some kind of love at first sight bullshit, but for once I feel like I’m finally doing something right with my life. Yeah, I work for the family business and shit, but I’ve always kind of just floated around.

My brothers have always been more of the chosen ones in my family because they were always trying to win over my father’s love and attention. Me, I didn’t give a shit. He wasn’t around for a while, and I still resented him for that. Yeah, yeah, I get why he did it. Our mother was murdered when it should have been him. But he still was our father, and he left us to be raised by Nick and Emily.

When Sailor looks up at me, I see the trust shining in her eyes. I wipe her tears, and she gives me a small smile. “Why are you helping me?” her voice breaks, and she almost sounds like she thinks I’m going to be just like that dickhead Marco.

“Because once my sister was being hurt by someone, and I wish someone would have stepped up and said something even when she wouldn’t.” She gasps, and I give her a grin.

“Don’t worry, she’s fine now, and my stupid as fuck brother finally manned up, and is taking care of her and his twins.” This time her mouth drops open.

“Brother?” she asks, hesitantly.

I can’t help but laugh. She apparently doesn’t know a lot of biker lingo. “My club brother.” She finally closes her mouth, but gives me a questioning look. “My club brother got my sister pregnant. She never told him, or any of us for the matter. She tried to fix the situation by getting married to some jackass who ended up hurting her. Her best friend ended up finding out three years later. She called Brant, and told him that he needed to get down to Seattle. When he got there, he found out about the twins, and he moved all three of them back to Vegas with him. They struggled for a while, but they are finally on the right track, and she’s pregnant again.”

“Oh. I’m glad they finally worked it out,” she bites her bottom lip, and I can’t help but think that I wish it were me biting her lip right now. My dick twitches, and I know she can feel it because her eyes bolt to mine quickly, and they slightly widen.

She scrambles off my lap, and sits back in her seat quickly. “What do you want to know?” she finally asks, after a few minutes of uncomfortable silence.

“How did you find out he sold you?” My voice grows tense when I say the words because all I can imagine is killing the bastard for even thinking about selling a woman. He already has a death wish for ever putting his hands on her.

“Last night, I mixed some sleeping pills in his whiskey, and waited for him to fall asleep. Once I knew he was out, I grabbed his phone, and checked his messages. I had a feeling something weird was going on because he became so secretive around me. He didn’t tell me anything anymore, and he was always talking about me to someone on the phone, like I didn’t notice.”

She pauses, and I want to tell her to continue, but I remember how Anslie was when she first came back. She hated talking about what happened, and if you pushed her too hard, she would shut down, and you wouldn’t get any information out of her.

Pulling her chair closer to mine, I wait patiently for her to give me some more information to go on. Right now all I have is some assumptions, and no proof. Yeah, I’ve killed with less information, but if I want to make sure she is protected, I need to know everything she knows.
