I slid the dress over my bare body and stepped into my 360-degree mirror. It was a simple midnight black dress that ended right below my butt and had a very revealing neckline. I smiled to myself as I adjusted the straps and stepped out of the mirror.

I walked into my bathroom and examined myself in the mirror. I would consider myself attractive. I wasn’t ugly, I knew that for sure, but I wasn’t conceited about it either.

I curled my usually pin-straight hair so that waves took its place, framing my heart shaped face. I highlighted my eyes with a little mascara and added color to my cheeks with pink blush. I was never really the type to wear makeup. Sean said I was naturally beautiful and I was going to let my natural beauty shine through, no matter what the occasion.

              “Hello there,”

I jumped when I heard her voice and rolled my eyes. “Why are you here so early?”

              “I told you five minutes,”

              “It’s been fifteen,”

“Then I’m not early,” she smiled, “You look sexy.”

              “Thanks,”

I took the time to analyze Katie’s get up. Her orange hair was pulled back into a bun and she was wearing a strapless red dress with black stilettos.

I shook my head in awe. Katie always managed to make her outfits look cute. If I wore a dress like that, I would be selling sex on the streets but she made it look adorable.

              “Where are you taking me?”

              “To a club,”

I widened my eyes, “A club? With alcohol?” Her grin appeared. “Katie...”

“I already have our fake IDS that I made a long time ago for times like these and you’re really not going to make me put them to waste, are you?”

My eyes bulged, “You made fake IDS?” I asked, but then I thought about it for a moment. Why was I so surprised?

“How else are we supposed to get in?” she questioned, lifting a perfectly arched brow. “Don’t worry about it Liz, you said you were bored anyway,”

“Yeah well,” I glanced down at my dress and realized how inappropriate it was. “I was thinking more of dinner and a movie or something,”

“We always do dinner and a movie,” she wiggled her brows, “Besides, big bro Jer is gone so you’re off the hook.

I sighed, finally giving in. This was going to be the death of me. “We’re taking my car, I’m driving.”

Katie raised her hands defensively, “What? Do you think I’m going to get drunk?”

              I nodded.

              “Bitch,” she snapped, “Let’s go.”

▪▪▪▪▪

Music. There was no other sound but music. Loud, blaring, explicit music. There were too many people here that it became unbelievably hot. I had lost Katie over an hour ago to a drunk older man.

I was not enjoying myself. This was definitely not my scene.

How would I get home? Sure, I could take my car but I would have to find Katie first. To try to find her in this mess would be like trying to find a grain of rice in a haystack.

              Just plain torture.

“What can I get you, pretty lady?”

I rolled my eyes as I came to face the bartender. “Water, please.”

He filled up a glass with water, placed it in front of me and disappeared to assist everyone else. I stared blankly at the glass of water. I really wasn’t thirsty.

“May I say that you look absolutely stunning?”

I tore my gaze away from the glass and brought my attention to a man that was standing beside me. He had dark curly hair and striking blue eyes that made you want to forget about everything else. He was in his late 20s, early 30s probably. A creepy smile etched on his face.

“Will I ever get to have a moment when I can sit down and not get hit on by a creepy old dude?” I snapped.

His face faltered, making his eyes look lost and confused.

“No offense,” I said quickly, “But you’re not my type and I’m pretty sure I’m not yours.”

“How would you know that?” he asked, the smile slowly growing back on his pale face, “You know nothing about me.”

“And I’m pretty sure you know everything about me, right?” I asked sarcastically. He opened his mouth to respond but I cut him off, “Look, I’m only here because my crazy friend practically dragged me. I’m not here for anything else so back off.”

He tilted his head slightly to the right, grinning. “What is your name?”

The question caught me by surprise. I hadn’t expected him to ask that, especially since I had just told him to leave. “Stephanie,” I lied easily, “My name is Stephanie.”

He chuckled, “I know you’re lying.”

I quirked a brow, “How would you know that I’m lying?”

His eyes traveled down to my wrist, where a charm bracelet etched with my name was wrapped around it. “Elizabeth,” he said to himself, “That’s a beautiful name, much more beautiful than Stephanie.”

I narrowed my eyes. “It’s Liza,” I corrected him; “I go by Liza.”

His lips curled into a smile. “It’s nice to meet you Liza,” He held out his hand for me to shake, I stared blankly at it. “You’re supposed to shake it,”

“I’d rather not.”

He sighed heavily, not making any more attempts to talk to me.

“Liza!” I heard a familiar voice yell out, “Where have you been girl? I’ve been looking for you everywhere.”

I turned my head slightly to see Katie approaching me with a man around her arm. “This is George,” she slurred, “He’s a really great kisser.” He patted his chest and smiled up at him.

              “Katie.”

“He’s going to take me to his place tonight and he said we’re going to have fun!” she exclaimed, “Isn’t that right, George?”

George looked down at her with a huge smile spreading across his face. “That’s right.”

I looked over to the man that was talking to me earlier to see that he was giving George a hard stare. “Um Katie,”

              “Yeah?”

“We need to go home,” I insisted, “Now.”

              “But--”
“No,” I cut her off, “We need to go now.”

George’s arm snaked around her waist, pulling her closer to him. “What’s the rush, sweet tits?”

I gaped, not believing that he had just violated my body like that. I blame this skanky ass dress. “You do not have a right to talk about me like that!” I yelled, “And you better leave my friend alone.”

George smirked, “And what are you going to do about it?”

“I--” I paused to think. What was I going to do? This man was definitely going to beat me in a fight. “I don’t know,”

He burst out in laughter, “That’s what I thought, now run along.”

              “Let her go,”

All of our attention went to the man who was sitting next to me.

              “Excuse me?”

“You heard me,” he repeated, standing from the bar stool and stepping closer to George. “You let her friend go before I bust a cap in your ass.”

              “Sit down,”

“Very well then,” he said, throwing a punch right in the middle of George’s face. He fell down to the floor instantly, clutching onto his nose.

“You little bitch, you broke my nose!”

What happened next was a blur. I couldn’t really understand what was happening or why it was happening but I knew that I was safe. I grabbed Katie the first chance I got and we got out of that place immediately.

“I am never going to a club again,” I yelled, once we got to my car, “You hear me?”

              She nodded.

“God,” I began to swear profanities as I got into the car. “You were almost going to get raped and I was almost going to get killed if it wasn’t for that guy,”

“Do you think he’s going to kill him?”

I turned my keys in the ignition and waited as the car roared to life. “I don’t know but if anything happens, we were never there. Got it?”

She nodded once more, “I’m sorry, Liz. It was supposed to be a fun night out.”

“There’s nothing fun about being in a confined space with loud music and drunk people.” I snapped, “You’re drunk, obviously so I’m taking you to my place. You’ll be safe to go home in the morning.”

“Thanks Liza,” she said, smiling as he let her head fall back on the headrest and closed her eyes.

CHAPTER SIX - JACOB

She had been in her house for an hour now. I wanted so desperately to leave but I could not miss her if she came out again.

My cell phone vibrated on the seat. I glanced down at the caller ID and smiled. Pressing the phone against my ear, I spoke, “Hello?”

“Hi,” the man replied, “Good day Jacob.”

              “You’re calling, because?”

“I’ve found a house that you requested for. Far away from civilization, pool in the backyard, three stories. Just like yo
u asked.”

              “Where?”

              “Montana,”

“Thank you,” I said, “I’ll buy it.”

“Right,” the man responded, “The price is seven--”

“Don’t tell me the price,” I snapped, “I said I’ll buy it. Good day.” I hung up the phone before he could say anything else. He was too annoying.

Just then, a car pulled up into her driveway, a Kia Optima midsized silver sedan. A girl of medium height, pale skin, bright blue eyes and fiery hair stepped out. This was the same girl from the movies.
