Laken took note of Conrad’s heavy breathing; Laken could feel Conrad’s fingers as both men worked Honor’s clit to prepare her. Conrad was whispering in Honor’s ear she would be fine, no one would ever hurt her. Laken gripped Honor’s breasts in his hands, there were areas off limits to Conrad and he had stressed this was one—or rather two. Conrad seemed content to ravish her mouth and Laken was finding it hard to concentrate while another man touched his woman. He hadn’t realized how jealous he was.

Honor cried out when Conrad entered her, her hands gripped Laken’s wrists and she pressed her body back against him.

“Give me a family,” she whispered.

It was all Laken needed to hear. She wanted this more than he did, she wanted Laken and she wanted his baby. Laken determined this would work the first time because he didn’t know if he could share her again, he had been right, he could never have bred her, it would have killed him. It took some coaxing, but Laken slid his swollen cock into her from behind. Honor gasped and groaned, rocking between the two.

Conrad was moving faster, his momentum building and Laken concentrated on moving that much faster without hurting Honor. Laken knew when Conrad came, Laken bit him and as warm blood rushed down his throat he had his own orgasm, exploding into Honor. Laken could sense his little monsters on a mission to conquer. With luck, they would be successful, but they were on their own.

Laken listened until Conrad’s heart stopped. Laken gasped in air and, with bloody fangs, bit his wrist and shoved it into Conrad’s mouth. He was more brutal than he should have been, but this was Laken’s first turning; it was an aphrodisiac to his being. Laken had taken Conrad’s life and was now returning it. Conrad’s heart thumped hard once and he gasped as he opened his snowy white eyes. Laken was filled with his power—and his new responsibility.

With tremendous care, Laken offered Conrad a gift from his sire—Conrad was truly
his
. Laken turned Honor’s throat, exposing it to him. Conrad’s fangs grew large, his body was shaking and Laken sensed the power flow through the new vampire—it still didn’t match Laken’s.

Gently
, Laken warned and growled.

Yes
.

Conrad carefully slipped his fangs into Honor. She shuddered when Laken bit the other side of her neck. She tasted even sweeter, and Laken knew at that second they had been successful. Her blood, so familiar to him, was that much different he could tell. This time the images would be true, and Laken took her on a journey into his hopes.

Honor was at the new coven and she was holding his child; she was so happy. Conrad seemed confused as he too was bombarded and Laken included him; Conrad happy, Conrad being his first, and the most special gift, too, because Laken had created him. It was no wonder Tavish loved his vampires so much; Laken loved Conrad and showed him how proud he was until he almost burst.

It’s time now, my brother,
Laken said to Conrad.

Laken pulled his mouth from Honor and grinned. Conrad grinned back with his eyes glowing bright and his fangs dripping blood, and Laken filled with pride. Both men slid away from Honor, but Laken had one more thing to do.

“This female is mine,” Laken warned Conrad, except he was too happy to stop smiling.

Conrad nodded in agreement, looking a little overwhelmed, and a tad full of his new state in life, too. Laken kept smiling when Caine came forward and scooped Honor up into his arms. Tavish helped Conrad to his feet and handed him the coven attire, black t-shirt, black jeans and black ankle high boots. For a second, Conrad was stunned and he looked at Laken with indecision.

“Well, put them on, man. A vampire shouldn’t run around naked; we’re scary enough when clothed. The women don’t need to see how big you’re hung to know you’re dangerous,” Laken said.

Looking a bit sheepish, Conrad took the clothes and dressed when Laken did. Laken scooped up Honor’s lingerie and went to retrieve her. Caine had already given her his reviving drink and wrapped her in a blanket.

“The presence of this babe is very strong,” Caine said. “Hmm.”

“What’s wrong?” Tavish asked. “The baby would be part vampire; its presence would be stronger.”

Tavish knelt by Honor and cocked his head. He looked at Caine questioningly. Caine grinned and shrugged. Laken stood before them, hands on hips.

“What did you give Honor?” Laken asked.

“Your baby—or babies are in no danger,” Caine said. “Honor is strong and healthy and the vampire part of her children will keep her safe.”

“Babies?” Laken, Tavish and Conrad said simultaneously.

“The presence is too strong to be one. Laken you’re a jealous man, it almost killed you to share Honor even though you both wanted the same thing. With two children, hopefully you’ll both be content,” Caine said then laughed. “Besides, it will give Galf a couple playmates.”

Caine then turned serious and looked at Tavish. “I know the laws, but it’s in my patient’s best interest to have me watch her for the first few weeks, and you and Laken can tie up loose ends. It will also make Conrad’s transition easier with the help of the other vampires, while you and Laken are busy.”

Tavish agreed. Honor was stirring and Laken bent to retrieve her. “Did we do it?” she asked.

“We sure did,” Laken said, but refrained from mentioning she was carrying twins.

Honor gave a weak smile. “That was a hell of a ride. You sure look full of yourself, Daddy.”

Laken had the blood of two people fortifying him; he was a father to not one but two children, and he had sired his own vampire.

Life is fucking good.

Epilogue

“The legacy of Laken.”

Honor smiled up at him as they gazed around their new coven almost a month later. Tavish and Laken and a few others had a great deal of planning to do as Laken wasn’t just cast out—he was a coven leader who worked side by side with Tavish. Conrad was a little hesitant. He had been raised in the brethren of Tavish and now had a new sire and a new life as a vampire. He looked a little overwhelmed.

“This is going to take a lot of work,” Conrad said.

“Anything worth having is worth working hard towards,” Laken replied.

He looked sated to Honor; his chest was puffed with pride. Laken had been with Tavish for a long time; Honor had been worried he would regret what he had done, but from his bright eyes to his smile he looked happy.

“How big is this coven?” Honor asked.

“Almost as big as Tavish’s,” Laken said. “There’s already a building; Tavish and I had been working on it ages ago but stopped when the coven we had planned on allowing entry turned on us and we were forced to neutralize them. There is enough room for fifteen vampires and hopefully one day many humans.”

“Well you’re off to a good start. You have two and one third vampires and one human.” Honor was chuckling as she said this.

The large building was stuffy when they entered; there was a layer of dust on all the table tops in the main room. It echoed with their voices and, for a moment, Honor missed the bustle of Tavish’s coven. Conrad went off to explore. Laken switched the main generator on and the lights fluttered then settled. Honor stayed pressed to his side.

“Don’t be afraid,” Laken said to her.

“I guess saying I’m not would be useless—I can hear my own heart pounding.”

“Tavish and I as well as a few others went over this place with a fine tooth comb. The wall perimeter is strong and there are no threats. Tavish is within calling distance and the Anivamps consider this their domain as well. Since there have been so many hybrid animals roaming around, Druid has been hunting more often—he’s about as possessive as I am.” Laken grinned down at her. “Tavish loves me even though I’ve left his coven—I was permitted to break a law. We are brothers who have gone our own way but we still need one another.”

“When the time comes you will turn me.”

Laken held her close. “Conrad was the first human I’ve turned. Tavish and I set up some rules for now. I can turn another thirteen vampires in my own time, men who will benefit my coven, loyal men. I plan on being as choosey as Tavish. Yes I will turn you when you’re ready—but only when you’re ready.”

“I think two will be a nice number,” Honor said and ran her hand lovingly across her middle, only for Laken would she sleep with another man to give him another child.

Laken gave her a wry look. “I’m thinking three would be perfect.”

“Three? You may have to turn a few vampires for that, depending on your success.”

“Not as many as you would think.”

Honor pulled back away from him. “What do you know that I don’t?”

“There are five heartbeats in this room, Honor.”

“But Laken there is only me and you—oh, and our baby.”

“Babies, Honor.”

“Wait a minute, are you saying there’s two in here? Why didn’t you say something?” Honor was startled when he laughed. She started doing the math. “Me, you, two babies—
three babies
. Three? Holy shit, that’s some vampire sperm you have.”

“Caine plans on watching your progress very closely. Three hybrids, each one-third vampire. Galf will have a few playmates.”

Stunned, Honor slipped into the nearest chair. She started to laugh. “Well, it looks like you have what Tavish has and then some.”

Laken knelt before her; he rested a hand onto her flat belly. “I always wanted a big family. For a while, being in the coven was enough; even though the vampires were like brothers. I just couldn’t watch another human be born and then die wondering if I’d ever be able to keep a child. Now I’ll have three—my own family. We will be so happy together.”

“Well, we’ll certainly be busy: new coven, new sire, new babies.”

Laken’s face split into a huge grin. He scooped her up and carried her to a room down a connecting hall. Honor thought the coven home looked a great deal like Tavish’s, but once Laken and she added touches of their own, they would make the coven into a home.

With a flourish Laken banged open a door and took her into a stunning room, it was huge, with a one big window. A massive bed was situated in the middle of the room and looked clean and fresh. Laken set her on it. Honor gazed about the room. Laken had brought his things from Tavish’s coven. Everything was spotless.

“Someone’s been busy,” she murmured.

“I had some help getting things ready. A few other vampires have approached me with their desire to join my coven. I’m thinking about it. They will bring their humans here if I allow them entry. They were happy to offer their humans’ services for a chance to check out the coven and see if they were a good fit. Most of the heavy work is done and the barn has animals in it, a garden’s been started.”

“Will you go hunting soon?”

“Soon,” Laken said and nodded. “Tavish has gifted me with five humans, he was very generous. Two of the humans are breeder females and two breeder males, one of the breeder females already has a daughter. The child is three; she was allowed to stay with her mother, of course, Tavish would never separate family. They had been Tavish’s but they know me, they respect me.

“I’m hoping to join Tavish on his next hunt; with just Conrad and me it will be difficult, but we need to build our numbers fast.”

“You can’t have everything at once,” Honor chided. “Remember we need to work for what we want.”

“I already know what I want.”

The hungry desire in Laken’s eyes was all too informative. Honor knew exactly what he wanted. The fluffy white comforter felt deliciously soft when he laid her back onto the bed. Honor still wore the flimsy lingerie, but the snaps on the bottom remained closed. Laken pulled them apart and after stripping, he settled himself over her, keeping his weight from crushing her.

Honor moaned when two fingers slipped into her heat. She was growing wet as he worked her bud with the pad of his thumb. Honor reached up to nip at his bottom lip. When she captured him, he squeezed a breast making her cry out and release him. He stripped his clothing and tossed everything onto the floor.

Laken loved her with gentle passion. Their bodies rolled heavenward together as they took and gave to one another. Honor was so happy she could have cried and wondered if they were hormones. Caine had told her she would have mood swings. Honor decided she was happy, that was all there was to it. She was glad she had escaped from the ice dwelling. No, she hadn’t changed the world, just her little corner, and Honor realized that taking a stand for what she believed in was what it was all about. She was Honor and
honor
was everything.
