“What do you mean, she having the baby, she has to get to the hosp…”
Asia had gripped his hand he grimaced. “Listen to your mother Aaron, I’m having this baby!”
Aaron lifted her carrying her through the living room where everyone was sitting.
“She having the baby,” Aaron said, anxiously.
The men rose, panicking.
“Hurry Aaron, hurry!” Asia said grimacing with pain.
In the bedroom, Aaron lay her down; the women following close behind.
Brie lifted her dress, removing her underwear and looked at Asia, glancing at Vessa.
“We are going to have to deliver this baby Vessa,” Brie stated firmly.
“Mom you can’t, I mean, did anyone call 911.” Aaron said rising panic in his tone.
“Aaron the baby crowning, I have to.”
Asia looked up at him scared. “Its okay Aaron, it okay.” Asia trying consoling Aaron. Asia began bearing down and gripping Aaron hand.
“Dad!” Aaron called.
Trevet rushed in, standing in the doorway.
“Yes Son,”
“Tell Mom to stop; she trying to delivery the baby, she can’t…,”
Asia screamed and pushed down.
“Mom,” she screamed, “The baby’s coming I can…,” she screamed again. Brie ignored them both. Vessa stood beside Brie, with a sheet Tracy had handed her. Aaron was shaking visibly.
“Push Asia! Push!” Brie coached. Asia bore down.
“My God, here she comes!” Brie cried.
Asia pushed one last time, the baby slipped out, Vessa and Brie quickly wrapped the baby in the sheet, and began rubbing her vigorously, after a minute the baby let out a wail that filled the room.
Brie was laughing and crying, as was everyone in the room. The paramedic arrived just as the baby had let out her first wail.
Aaron sat beside Asia, smiling and silent tears flowing down his face. He looked down at Asia, and kissed her mouth.
“I love you, thank you for my daughter.” he said with emotion, and kissed her lips.
Brie moved aside and let the paramedic take over. Aaron cut the cord, then Brie handed Asia her daughter.
Aaron stood beside her admiring his daughter, as the paramedic administered to Asia.
Her little face puckered, as her eyes opened. She had a dark tuft of hair, and hazel/green eyes like her mother.
“Sir we have to get them to he hospital,” the paramedic informed the, as the stretcher was brought in. They transferred Asia to the stretcher, the baby on her chest. As they rolled her out, Aaron following closely behind, grinning from ear to ear, with a proud bounce to his walk.
Epilogue
Aaron, Asia, and Aki Brie Harrison were a happy family. Brie and Trevet visited daily. Trevet had already informed Asia and Aaron, Aki could do no wrong in his eyes. Aaron doted on his daughter and Asia. He and Asia were back to their normal routine. Asia would only tour on Aaron off-season, so he and Aki could travel with them. Asia was more popular then every now. Benny was turning invitations down left and right, she was the newest rising star.
Aaron lay in bed with Asia. It had been already three months since the last time they were intimate. She didn’t know how Aaron felt anymore; he’d come home, kiss her, play with his daughter, change, and go out again. She wanted him to touch her to make love to her. Where was he going every night at seven o’clock she wondered? This had been going on for the past three weeks straight. She asked Brie and Tia, neither knew anything. She had to confront him about this and soon. When they lay at night she would touch him, he’d move away, and say he’s tired. They talked all the time, but he never wanted to make love to her, maybe since the baby he didn’t find her desirable anymore. Asia refused to beg him to make love to her.
Aaron lay beside Asia. How he wanted to make love to her, but he had to stay strong, for another week. He was planning their wedding, along with his mother, Tia, Tracy, and Vessa. Chez and Wilson had their jobs too. Even Martin, Benny, her band, the Coz and his teammates were in on everything.
Aaron wasn’t sure if Asia would marry him, until he talked to Tia. He remembered their conversation.
“Asia wants to marry you,” Tia had told him.
“No she doesn’t, she said she would never marry me.”
“That was then, but she does now.”
“How do you know?” Aaron had asked Tia.
“She said she would marry you anyway, anytime, anyplace, that’s how I know.”
Instantly Aaron formulated a plan including everyone but Asia.
Aaron rolled over, gazing into her sleeping face. How beautiful she is, he thought, and to think he almost lost her forever. If he had his life would have been in useless.
He leaned over and kissed her mouth. Her eyes fluttered open; she smiled.
“I love you,” Asia said and her eyes closed.
At Vessa boutique, Asia was getting dressed for the wedding photo shoot Benny had set up. Chez and Wilson had her face and hair made to perfection. The Vera Wang white bead and lace wedding dress seem just for her. It fit her perfectly. The exact dress she told Tia she had wanted for her wedding.
“She looks like a porcelain doll,” Chez said, tears filling his eyes.
Asia frowned, “It’s just a photo shoot.” Asia shook her head; you would think she was really getting married. She thought she even seen a tear or two in Vessa eyes.
The limo had arrived and everyone piled in. Everyone was acting so strange today; grinning and whispering, even conservative Benny was grinning like an idiot. Asia thought for a photo shoot, this was extreme, limo, church. Benny said the shoot would be for Ebony and Essence magazines for their wedding issue. Asia didn’t think they had a wedding issue.
The limo pulled in front of the church, but Benny ushered her to the side basement door.
“Benny what’s going on?” she asked suspiciously, “I thought…”
“Don’t worry dear everything as it should be, you wait here one minute, I have to go check on something.”
Asia frowned after him, shaking her head. Where were Chez and Wilson, usually they would be right beside her. They just disappeared, and so did Vessa. Benny returned. “There ready,” he said softly.
He took her hands, looking in her eyes. “Your look beautiful,” he said with emotion. Asia smiled, still wondering what was going on.
Benny held the train of her gown as she took the stairs that lead to the vestibule. They stopped in front the closed double doors sanctuary. Benny dropped the train, and spread it out on the floor. Benny stood beside her, and she looked at him strangely.
“You look beautiful,” a familiar voice said to her. Asia turned her head, to Trevet standing beside her.
She gasped in surprise. “Dad, what’s ...?”
“It’s your wedding day, sweetheart,” Trevet said smiling.
Tears welled up in her eyes. Trevet handed her his handkerchief. She looked over at Benny. “You knew all this.” Benny nodded. She hugged him, turning back to Trevet.
“Dad, how did you do this?” she asked, dabbing her eyes.
“I didn’t,” he told her.
“Aaron?”
He nodded.
“He really loves me,” she said as the tears started again.
“Yes, Honey he does.”
Aaron was looking back at the closed door, with a worried look on his handsome face. He looked at his mother. She smiled, and mouthed, she’ll be here. He turned to Martin, “Maybe she didn’t want to marry me after all,” he said to Martin.
Martin put his hand on Aaron shoulder. “She’s coming, Aaron don’t worry.”
“I love him Dad, I would marry him a thousand times,” she said emotionally.
Trevet smiled. “You ready?” Asia nodded.
Benny opened the double doors to the sanctuary.
Aaron looked up the aisle at her and stopped breathing for a second. She’s beautiful, he thought grinning broadly.
Asia mouth dropped open. Every pew in the large church was full. Eddie, Calvin, Michael, Thomas and Wayne stood on one side of the aisle of the church in black tuxedo’s and on the other side was her band, The Coz, dressed the same way. Tia and Tracy stood at the alter smiling in their bridesmaid gowns. Martin stood beside Aaron, both men very handsome in their black tuxedos, with tails. Asia eyes met Aaron, her heart swell with love. Aaron glanced at Martin tears glistening in his eyes.
The music start. Royal Records let one of their new male singer sing “For You” for her.
“Ready,” Trevet said. She nodded, and held onto his arm.
She looked up the aisle at Aaron, her eyes focused only on him. When she took the first step, the cameras started flashing.
As she pass her brides-men they each sank down to one knee, hand over there hearts head bow, paying her homage; Asia smiled at them. She looked up and saw Brie with the baby, Vessa and Lynwood with the twins. Tia and Tracy smiling as tears rolled down their faces.
Finally, Asia and Trevet stood in front of Aaron.
“Who gives this woman?” the pastor asked.
“I do,” Trevet, said, proudly smiling down at her, he bent, kissed her cheek, and placed her hand in Aaron’s.
Asia looked into Aaron eyes. The love he saw in her greens eyes was stronger than he had ever remembered or felt. The pastor spoke of the bonds of love and marriage. Tears of joy streamed down her face, as Aaron placed the ring on her finger the mister pronounced them man and wife.
“You may kiss your bride,” the pastor told them.
Aaron pulled Asia to him, looking in her eyes.
“I’ve been waiting for this a long time,” he said before his mouth took her. Everyone in the church applauded and cheered.
Brie handed Aki to her father, and the three of them walked down the aisle. When they got to the double doors of the church, he leaned down to her.
“I love you Asia, thank you for becoming my wife,” he said with sincerity. Her smile lit up her face.
“You better stop that or we will miss our reception, you know what that smile does to me.”
