“But how will we know what might be possible between us if
we don’t at least try?” She reached up and stroked his face, relishing the feel
of his whiskers against her palm. “The apartment I found is only forty minutes
from here. I can help with your grandparents.”

“You’d do that?” He pressed a kiss to her forehead.

She thought of the lovely old couple she had seen in the
garden, and about her own grandmother who would always hold a special place in
her heart. “It will be my privilege to get to know them.”

“They’ll love you.” He was smiling at her fondly. “We’re not
gonna have much privacy, you know.”

She laughed. “We might have to rent a room every so often.”

“I think that can be arranged.” His smile faded then, and a
new light sparked in his dark eyes. “I love you, Amber.”

“So it’s settled?” She stood on tiptoe and brushed a kiss
across his lips. “We’re in love with each other?”

“Oh, yeah. Most definitely in love.” He brought her closer,
his hands moving with new assurance down her back, splaying on her hips.

Her cheeks flared at his possessive touch, at the ridge of
his erection pressing into her belly. It was a promise of everything she hoped
for.

Then he took her hand in his and led her toward the house. “Come
on, Amber. I want you to meet my grandparents.”

About Pepper Anthony

Like most writers, I’ve worn quite a collection of hats over
the years—voice actor, artist, bookkeeper, retail sales—but I’ve always wanted
to be a writer. My biggest dream was to see my name on a book cover. Now, with
the advent of e-publishing, the covers may be virtual, but the thrill of seeing
my name on them is real. I am so humbled by the idea that my stories might draw
in a reader and provide her an hour or two of entertainment.

I’ve been married to my best friend Tom for thirty years.
Together we’ve raised two amazing sons, and recently welcomed our first granddaughter,
Leona Mae. Most days you can find me at our family’s computer repair shop in a
small town outside Portland, Oregon. At night I go home to my rambling
fixer-upper in the woods and toil at my writing, assisted by a small menagerie
of furry assistants.

I love it when a reader takes a moment to reach out and let
me know what she thinks of my stories. I hope you’ll feel free to email me or
leave a comment on my website.
