“I guess we’re done here?” she finally said flirtatiously. He stopped mid step and turned around.

“Did you want to go another round?” he asked playfully. He reached and pulled her back in his arms. “Because if you are, I’m ready.” His lips were curved up into that amazing smile, and leaning in she took his mouth and savored a hot kiss. His lips parted, her tongue found her way into the warmth of his mouth, and the kiss deepened. Arielle moaned and Sebastian groaned, heat rising rapidly. “I thought I was indestructible, but you are going to kill me,” he mumbled, as he pushed the shower door closed once again.

Sebastian stepped out of the shower first, and she followed. She didn’t have anywhere to go, so there was no need to hurry and get dressed. But she did need to think about their upcoming trip and what she was going to pack.

“You are drifting again,” he said.

“I was just thinking about you.”

“That’s a good thing,” he said happily. He took a book and walked off toward the family room, still wrapped in just his bath towel. She followed him, eyes filled with awe, as a light shiver coursed through her muscles. She smiled wide and shook her head in disbelief.

Arielle decided to phone Eva and Gabrielle to talk about their trip to St. Jean de Luz. They couldn’t get over the fact that Sebastian was giving them such a generous gift. They went on and on about how wonderful he was, and of course, Arielle felt exactly the same. They talked about their wardrobes, and little details about what they would need to bring. “The weather is so beautiful in the south of France,” Arielle said. “It’s nothing like Brighton weather.” She told them they would need mostly summer clothes.

The night before the trip Arielle had terrible nightmares about Annabel. Once again she could see the wild look of hatred in her eyes, and could hear her repeating over and over again. Sebastian will never belong to another woman. Stay away from him I am warning you; before it is too late. She woke up in a cold sweat, shivering with fear. She looked over at Sebastian. He was sleeping peacefully, looking like an angel. She moved a little closer to him, and he instinctively encircled her in his arms without waking up. She closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep, only to have the exact same dream again. This time she stayed awake for several hours, in a complete panic, wondering what it all meant.

She didn’t get to sleep until early in the morning, so she was very tired when the time came to get ready to go to the airport. While Sebastian drove, she kept her eyes closed, trying to get some rest. Sebastian reached over and stroked her cheek with the back of his hand.

“Is there something wrong, baby?”

Arielle felt his gaze on her face. “No, I’m just a little tired. I didn’t get much sleep last night.”

“Why is that?”

“Bad dreams,” she replied, and shivered, wrapping her arms around herself protectively.

“Oh, let me guess, Annabel?” Taking his eyes off the road for a quick second, his gaze swept over her face inquisitively.

“Mmmhmm,” Arielle said, and nodded, without opening her eyes. Sebastian’s mouth flattened into a hard line, and he concealed an oath.

“Do you want to talk about it?”

“No, not really, I’ll be okay.”

Sebastian humphed, and eyes narrowing he turned to look at her once again. “Are you sure?” He sounded anxious.

Arielle’s eyes sprung open at the sound of his voice, and she fixed her gaze on him. “Sebastian, I’ll be all right. I’m just a bit tired from not sleeping. I’m sure I’ll be able to sleep on the plane, and I’ll be fine.”

The airport signs came into view, and Sebastian reached for her hand. “Are you excited about the trip?” he asked, his voice full of concern. She turned to look at him.

“Sebastian, I’m just tired, but I’m also super excited about having a wonderful holiday with our friends,” she answered, giving him a smile, but her inner discomfort was obvious to Sebastian. He leaned over and gave her a quick peck on the lips.

“I love you, Arielle. Please don’t worry. I’ll keep you safe,” he said, and smiled reassuringly.

She reached over and ran a finger across his lower lip as he drew in a deep breath. “I love you too. I’m not worried, I’m just tired,” she said, and she stared out the window. But deep inside, her heart twisted, and a murmur of unease filled her thoughts. She swallowed her anxiety as every nerve cell in her brain was sending frantic signals of warning to her sensory cortex. She shivered. She was suddenly suffocating. She shut her eyes tight and reached for that last safe line in her mind to help her relax in order to allow more oxygen into her lungs. She shifted nervously and slowly she turned to look at Sebastian, only to find him watching her warily.

“Is it Annabel again?”

“Um…yes,” she murmured, and turned to stare out the window.

She was aware of the complex and dangerous life she had plunged into when she fell in love with an immortal. But she didn’t want to change a thing, and she wasn’t going to give him up, she couldn’t give him up. He was now part of her life, the air she breathed. There was no world out there for her without Sebastian.

“Arielle, please look at me, baby,” he pressed on.

She turned and their gaze locked. “You have to start trusting me,” he said, and reaching over he cupped her chin, and held her to his gaze. She nodded and tried to pull away, but he held her firmly narrowing his eyes at her.

“Trust me?”

“Yes,” she replied.

“Then, stop worrying.”

She nodded again, and he let go of her chin turning his attention on the road.

As the car pulled up to ticketing, she winced at the thought of Annabel once again.

Sebastian held her door open, and reaching inside he pulled her out of the car and into his arms. “I’m not going to let anything happen to you.”

“I know,” she replied, her voice unconvincing. She did trust him, but strangely enough, she could almost taste Annabel’s fury. Stepping out of the car, she wondered, Was this going to be an amazing holiday or a nightmare from hell?

A sneak peek at the third book in the
Immortal Rapture Series, “Arielle Immortal Passion”
Coming April 30th

They arrived in St. Jean de Luz early in the afternoon. The weather was beautiful and warm, a distinct contrast from the weather in England. Arielle shivered with excitement, knowing that this was the place where she and Sebastian had met and fallen in love, which made it forever magical. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her towards the airport exit, where he had arranged for a limousine to pick them up.

The drive to the house was amazing. Arielle marveled as the car left the airport and headed into the countryside. The scenery was indescribable.

“How could you ever describe the beauty of this place to anyone?” she exclaimed as they drove.

There were acres of misty green fields with tall grass and colorful wildflowers popping up everywhere, creating a fascinating multicolored view. The trees were green, full, and open to the sky, absorbing the sunlight. The deep blue shade of the ocean was inviting, and many sailboats were drifting on the horizon. The sight of the white sand beaches filled Arielle’s heart with tranquil contentment. Her heart thumped double-time as they passed the location where she had first set eyes on her dream come true, Sebastian
.
I can’t imagine my life without him now, she thought.

Everyone commented on the beauty of the place. “It’s paradise,” Eva said, summing it up. Everyone agreed with her.

Arielle couldn’t wait for them to see Sebastian’s amazing house. The road traveled mostly along the beach, making it a peaceful and relaxing drive. As they drew nearer to the house, Arielle could see her friends’ faces changing to looks of incredulous wonder. At the huge entrance at the edge of the property was posted a large sign stating that they were entering private property. The family name was written in beautiful script, “Résidence de Gaulle.”

The property was covered with flowering rhododendron shrubs with white, lavender, and pink. The aroma from the jasmine was unbelievable. The azaleas were blooming profusely. They drove by a large pond where the reflection of the long grass and the trees surrounding that part of the property shimmered. Slowly, they pulled into the circular driveway in front of the house and stepped out of the car.
