“I nearly was. How are you? How are you really?”

“I hurt. They were not gentle. But now that you’re
here, it doesn’t matter. Nothing that happened
matters.” She willed herself to believe her words. She wiped
her tears with the back of her hand. “Thank you for coming. I
never gave up hope.”

He squeezed her. “I love you, Margaux.”

She met his lips, returning his kiss. “I love you,
too.”

Ravaged by Wolves

A bitter wind blew down the mountainside, carrying the scent of snow. I pulled my scarf tighter and tried to focus on the rocky path before me. My pack weighed heavily on my shoulders and threatened to throw me off balance any time I stumbled
. I wish I had just stayed home
. I pressed onward, hoping to get to the meadow before the storm hit.

As I crested the top of the ridge, I saw the meadow stretching out below me. It lay maybe two miles away, but it was two miles of hard hiking downhill through switchbacks, and the first flurries were already floating down into my face. I wondered again why I wanted to go seek out rumors of werewolves in the back country.
Because I'm a glutton for punishment
, I decided.

Ducking my head and pressing on, I hoped against reason that I could make it to the meadow before the snow grew too deep. Getting caught on the ridgeline without protection from the wind would be a death sentence.

My fingers and toes were numb when I finally reached the grassy meadow. Well, it used to be grassy. It was covered in two inches of fresh snow in the hour it took me to reach it. I fumbled with my tent, but finally got it setup and climbed inside. Just getting out of the wind made a world of difference. I unrolled my sleeping bag, peeled off my outer layers and climbed inside with a chemical heater.

The warmth spread out from the heater and in a few minutes I could feel my fingers and toes again. I wriggled out of more layers of clothes and kicked them to the bottom of the bag to keep them warm. Snow still pattered against the tent, and I knew it was going to be plenty cold in the morning. I tucked the heater into the special pocket sewed inside the bag, then rolled over to my side to let it warm my bare ass. The heat built behind me and I found myself getting warm somewhere else, too.

My hand slipped down between my legs. My fingers parted my folds, sinking into the wetness within. I rubbed a finger around my tight hole and slid just the tip inside. I sucked in a breath of cold air, then eased my fingers up, letting two rub slowly over my clit. The warmth really started to spread. My breathing deepened. I groaned into the inside of the sleeping bag.

My fingers dipped into my pussy, stroking, massaging in and out, then up to my clit, then back down to my soaking hole. I panted like a wild animal as the tingling shivers raced up my spine--Gods, I could feel it in my toes!--and made a long swell of ecstasy that I knew would soon burst. I fucked myself harder and faster. With my free hand, I pinched my own nipple. It felt hard and tight beneath my fingers.

I screamed as I came. I didn't care. It didn't matter. The shivers of ecstasy blossomed into a full pulsating orgasm and I let the rush sweep me away. After what felt like a lifetime of thrashing and stroking and moaning, I came back down to Earth.

My breathing settled down from a ragged pant and I settled into the bag. The exhaustion of hiking all day hit me all at once, and combined with the utter relaxation of a fresh orgasm, I let sleep take me into its sweet embrace.

"Hello, is anyone in still in there?" a man's voice distantly called. Something crunched outside in the darkness.

I scrambled inside the sleeping bag to pull my panties and tights back up over my legs. I wriggled into a shirt. "I'm here."

"Okay, don't move. We'll dig you out."

Dig me out?
It was still dark outside. What was the... the crunching sounds increased in volume and the light grew brighter.
Did it snow that much? Am I buried?
I climbed out of my sleeping bag. The cold hit me instantly. My breath nearly froze in the air before me.

I unzipped the front of the tent and looked out into a blank wall of snow. I hurriedly pulled on my ski pants and parka. The realization that I was nearly buried alive made me want to scream. I could have kept right on sleeping and never woken up. I shuddered at the thought. I needed out of this tent and I needed out now.

"How deep is it?" I called.

"Four or five feet. We'll be to you in a few minutes."

I rolled my sleeping bag back into a tight cylinder and strapped it to my pack. My gloves made effective enough shovels, and I didn't care if I filled the tent with snow. Handfuls of powder sprayed around me as I dug for the growing daylight. A gloved hand appeared and clawed the hole open further. Together we enlarged it enough for me to push my pack up, and then a pair of strong arms lifted me free.

Two men stood in the glowing post-dawn light, both bent over and panting. They had on ragged looking jackets, hardly the kind of clothes one would expect a prepared hiker to have. Even their gloves looked worn and ratty. I wasn't one to look down on salvation, though. "Thank you guys so much. I think I would have just suffocated if you hadn't found me."

The closest one grinned. His eyes flashed a deep chocolate brown. "Any time, ma'am." He held out a gloved hand. "I'm Luke." I shook his hand as best I could with us both wearing gloves. He pointed to his companion. "This is Romelu."

"Pleased to meet you," said the other man in a heavy Eastern European accent. He waved, but didn't approach.

"I'm Mallory. What are you guys doing out here?"

"Fishi--"

"Hiking," Luke said. "It's pretty country for it."

Fishing or hiking,huh?
Something was certainly fishy about the story. No one could hike as far as this meadow unless they had left at midnight. I adjusted my pack, wishing my knife were more accessible.

"Well, I think I should head on back to the ranger station," I said.

"You have snowshoes?" Romelu asked.

"No. I'll manage, though."

"There's five feet of snow," Luke said. "You aren't making it down that trail if you have to wade through the drifts."

"We have camp not far away," Romelu said.

"Ah..." I hesitated. They were right about trying to hike out being a mistake, but staying with them seemed like it might be a bigger a mistake. I took a few steps through the snow, at least I tried. Even a single step required digging my way forward. One misstep up or down the ridge and I'd be a human avalanche. An avalanche with no hope of two strapping young men to dig me out at the bottom of the hill.

"How far is your camp?" I finally asked.

"Less than a mile," Luke said. "Follow us. We'll break trail."

I nodded. As I trudged along after them, I noticed wolf prints under the trees. At least two sets ran parallel to us. Wolves don't often bother humans and certainly not in a group. I put it out of my mind and focused on keeping my feet.

My rescuers moved with an easy grace that made me envious. Romelu pushed through the snow like he was just out for a stroll. Luke packed it down behind him, his feet firm and sure on the shifting powder. It was all I could do to stay upright.

Clouds scudded overhead as we walked. Their dark shapes promised more snow, probably before lunchtime.

After a quarter hour of walking, my mind started to wander. Why were they breaking a trail back to camp? Why not just use the same trail they'd broken to get to me? And how did they even find me? Something just didn't add up. "I need to stop for a minute and catch my breath," I told them. "You can keep going."

"We'll wait with you," Luke said. They hardly seemed out of breath.

I pulled my pack from my shoulders, careful to face the back away from them. I crouched beside it and edged my knife and its sheath free of the straps. Then I slipped the knife into my pocket. "I'm ready. Let me get this pack situated again." I hefted it to my shoulders and we strode on toward their camp.

We approached a narrow trail that led up the mountain and disappeared behind a switchback. Wolf tracks came all the way down. I stopped cold. My fingers wrapped around the knife.

Luke stopped, but Romelu kept pushing through to the trail. "What's wrong?" Luke asked.

"No way. I'm not going up there to a wolf den. Are you guys out of your minds? If you threaten a litter, they'll defend it with their lives."

He grinned again. This time I noticed just how long his teeth were. I took a step back. "I assure you, there are no pups in our den. Uh, our camp." He winked.

My eyes grew wide. The rumors were true. There really were werewolves up here, and I'd just let myself get captured by them. I yanked the knife free and ripped the sheath away from the blade. "Stay back." I edged away from him.

Luke laughed. "If we wished you harm, you would have found it. Come, we have a fire and food. Surely you're hungry?"

"I have trail rations." I backed further away, until I lost my footing and fell heavily backward. My knife slipped from my gloved hand. I landed with at thump and a whoosh of powder that fell back into my face, stinging my eyes. "Damn it," I muttered.

Luke laughed long and hard. "You won't even make it across the meadow. If you make it that far."

I wriggled out of my straps and climbed to my feet. My face was flushed with the prickles of the cold powder. Or maybe with the exertion of the hike. Whatever it was, it definitely wasn't embarrassment. I was too mad to be embarrassed. "Fine. Show me your den, werewolf."

He rolled his eyes. "You say that as if it's a bad thing. Let's go." He came over and grabbed my pack and slung it over one shoulder like it was a child's backpack. I gasped at his display of strength. He really wasn't kidding--if they meant me harm, I didn't stand a chance.

The cave turned out to be downright cozy. It was tucked into a tumble of boulders only a few hundred yards from the base of the trail. Even if I had been looking, I would have never found it in the maze of rocks and trees. The entrance itself was hidden behind some kind of animal hide that looked the same color as the stone. A little trailer of smoke drifted through the corner of the hide, but it disappeared in a snow covered cedar tree that overhung the entrance. When Luke pulled the cover aside, the smell of cooked fish made my mouth water.

"What is that?" I asked.

"Trout," Romelu said from inside the cave.

Luke led me inside and Romelu served us fish on cedar planks. I copied them and ate with my fingers. With my belly full and the exhaustion of yesterday's hike to the meadow and today's slog to the cave both creeping up on me, I could barely keep my eyes open. I leaned back against my pack and nodded off.

I woke to a tongue on my face. A long, wet dog-like tongue. I opened my eyes and looked directly into the mouth of a wolf. It sat back, its tongue lolling free. Luke sat across the cave with his hands over his mouth. He didn't succeed at hiding his laughter. His whole body shook with it.

I wiped my face. "What. The. Hell."

"Oh God, you should see your face." He giggled again. "That was priceless."

The wolf sitting in the floor blurred from a hairy animal into a reclining human. "Got you," Romelu said.

My brain caught up with what my eyes had just seen. I stared at him in shock. Part of me had known what they were, but seeing really is believing. I could barely form words. "But you... wolf... tongue... person."

"Werewolves," Luke said. "Don't worry. By the time you get out to civilization and try to bring someone back to find us, we'll be long gone."

"I wasn't..."

"It's okay. I'd want to shout it from the rooftops if I were you."

I sighed and pulled my pack off so I could rummage inside for a change of clothes. The cave held the heat incredibly well and I was already sweaty under my outdoor gear. "I need to change clothes. Would you mind going outside? Or at least turning around?"

Romelu cocked an eyebrow at me, then shifted to his wolf form. He padded to the covering at the entrance, ducked his head and disappeared outside. A frigid draft of air blew in behind him. Luke just turned around.

I stripped down to my bra and panties, but as I put my leg into a clean pair of tights, Luke glanced over his shoulder. He whistled appreciatively.

"Really?" I yanked my pants up. "You couldn't give me a little..."

I saw the bulge in the front of his pants. I stared. It flexed.

"You see something you like?" he asked.

I studied him more closely. He had such a carefree smile, and a sparkle in his eyes that made me tingle inside. He licked his lips with a tongue just a little too big to be purely human.
What would it be like to have that tongue lick my pussy?
I felt myself grow warm at the thought. I glanced away. If I kept my eyes on him, I knew where this would go. My body ached for a man's touch.

I shoved my arms into my shirt and lifted it over my head. Before I could pull it down, he was beside me. I could feel his breath, warm on my neck. A gentle hand caught my wrist. His lips pressed against my back; he kissed me from shoulder blade to shoulder blade. I let him lower my arms. The shirt fell to the ground.

My body trembled at his touch. His lips reached the back of my neck. He kissed his way forward, up to my ear, then across my jaw. I couldn't take it anymore. I turned into him, forcing my mouth to his. We kissed slowly, carefully. But only at first. Then it was all passion. Fingers tore at buttons. Legs kicked pants away. We fell in a bundle of discarded clothes, our naked bodies writhing together.

I hungered for him. I lusted for his body with a desperation I could hardly imagine and had no intention of containing. I ran my hands over his muscled stomach. He had such strength, such vitality. It made my head swim.

He kissed me again, then slipped down until his head was between my legs. His breath was hot on my soaking pussy. He licked me, his long, velvet tongue spreading me wide open. It was good--supernaturally good. It dipped into my pussy, then stroked up to my clit. He worked me with a rolling wave that sent sparks coursing through my body. It dipped in my pussy again, and my toes tingled.
