Here we go again. I always like to thank
myself first. Not because I’m arrogant or stuck on myself, I do
this because I made all of this happen. Of course, I had help from
a higher power, but with that kind of help I could’ve been anything
in this world. I chose to write, to share my talent with the
masses.
Secondly, I would like to thank all the
beautiful fans that wrote me and highly praised my books: In the
Cut I & II, Court in the Streets I & II, and Trained to Go.
To answer all of y’all's question, YES I’m going to make movies out
of my books, as soon as a production company contacts me. I’m
fortunate to have all the rights to every book I have ever written,
so any negotiations will be hassle-free.
Thirdly, I want to praise my family. We can
be a strange and strained bunch at times, but I dare anyone to try
some funny stuff. We’ll form like Voltron and open up a can of… I
love y’all with all I got. I’ll be home before you can say
Bestselling Author who nobody knew.
I want to end this by saying that I hate to
be categorized as an urban fiction writer of the so-called ‘hood
books.’ For everybody who doesn’t know, I also write sci-fi
(Jimmy’s Midnight Hour), romance dramas (Beautiful Liar, Love &
Logic, and Love & Magic), and mystery-suspense (Daddy Dearest);
all coming soon. I do it all. Now enjoy Beautiful Liar, my first
romance-drama. If you don’t like it, write me and tell me why, I’ll
send you your money back.
To anybody who wants to get at me.

P.S. I had good intentions of doing the 2-Pac
and scream on every person and company that has done me wrong, but
they say success is the best revenge. This book game reminds me of
another game I knew how to indulge in. So if I mastered that one,
then you paper gangsters are going to be in trouble once I fully
catch on.
“
Can you keep a secret?”
Tywan asked
his current girlfriend, Misty.
“Don’t try to get off the subject,” she said
raising her voice. “Where were you last night?”
“Nah, you’re always saying how I don’t trust
you, so answer the question.”
“Have I ever repeated something that you ever
told me?”
He thought about that and knew that she
hadn’t. But he still wasn’t comfortable with her answer. “Just
please answer the question.”
“Yes, Ty, I can keep a secret.”
He took a deep breath and sat down on the
large suitcase that he had closed when she walked into the bedroom.
“You know what I do, right?”
“How you get your money?”
He nodded. “Hmm…hm.”
“Yeah, I know.”
“Tell me.”
“Tell you?” she frowned.
“Yeah, tell me.”
“I know what you do, I’m not stupid.”
“I know you’re not. I just want to make sure
that we’re on the same page.”
She sighed in resignation. “You do what my
brother do.”
“Nah,” he said, shaking his head. “That drug
shit ain’t for me; I don’t got the patience for it.” He noticed the
perplexed look on her face and continued. “I be juxing.”
“Robbing?”
He nodded.
“You just started?”
“Nah. I’ve been doing it for seven years.
Ever since I was twenty.”
“What made you want to do that?” She couldn’t
believe what she was hearing.
“Cause I used to be the working type. And one
day when I was coming out of the bank from cashing my income tax, I
bumped into this guy who was putting on a mask. I must’ve looked
sweet, ‘cause dude turned around and robbed me for everything.”
“No! Right there in front of the bank?”
“Yep. Got me for forty-three hundred. I was
so heated that I didn’t even report it. All that I was thinking
about on my way home was how I busted my ass all year for that
money, and dude made it in fifteen seconds. I realized right then
that I was in the wrong profession.”
“Don’t you be scared?”
“Yeah, but that’s what keeps me on point. It
lets me know that shit is for real and it’s about to go down.”
Misty thought about that for a moment. “So,
is this related to where you were last night?”
He nodded and opened the suitcase back up.
“The easiest fifty stacks I ever made.”
A mischievous grin appeared on Misty’s face,
and she sat down on the bed. “Tell me all of what happened. And
don’t leave out one thing!”
“Damn! You had to get comfortable, didn’t
you?”
“Shut up and tell me what happened; I’m
curious.”
“Okay, you know that I be getting manicures
and shit, right?”
She nodded. “I know.”
“Well, for the past few times I’ve been
there, I’ve noticed how a dude around my age be coming in there
walking straight to the back. I ain’t never seen him do any work or
anything, so I know he don’t work there. So about two weeks ago, I
was driving past there and seen the same dude going in the shop.
It’s like two o’clock in the morning. I knew he was doing wrong, so
I laid on his ass, and his ass came out carrying this suitcase,” he
said gesturing to it. “I’m telling you, it was the easiest!”
He noticed that she was breathing heavily.
“You okay?”
“I’m just so ex- You got to take me on one
with you.”
“Negative,” he said, closing the suitcase
back up.
“Why not?”
“’Cause I said so.”
“You think I can’t handle myself? I’m
probably the best shooter in the A. My dad taught me and my brother
when we were kids.”
“It’s not about being a good shot. It’s about
recognizing the potential dangers, and knowing when and when not to
shoot. A good robbery is one that doesn’t involve shooting.”
“Okay. I want to do one.” She was
adamant.
“No, Misty!”
“You don’t trust me?”
“Yes, but I work alone. And I don’t care how
sad you try to look; I’m not changing my mind.”
Sometimes a person is powerless over the way
that situations may fall-
Like how your presence is my weakness, but
your circumference is my prison wall.
Like how your absence is my hell, but at the
same time, my heart is your home-
Like how my bills are due, but I only care to
pay my phone’s.
You remind me of heaven, how you stuck with
me through hell-
And for that you’ll always have my upmost
respect, even if our relationship happens to fail.
You’re something like a dream, the way you
always make good things happen-
And I’m something like your favorite fan,
which applauds you by clapping.
So sometimes a person is powerless over the
way situations may fall-
So I never think twice when I’m missing you,
I just pick up the phone and call.

Misty sat in the car
, drumming nervously
on the steering wheel. A million thoughts flowed through her mind.
She tried her best to be optimistic, but the bus was thirty minutes
late, and her patience had exhausted.
Had it crashed? Did it reschedule its
route?
She pushed those thoughts aside and turned on
the radio, but the only thing that was on was the usual garbage
that dominated the air waves, so she put in a CD. Maxwell always
calmed her down when she felt edgy or anxious about something. It
was like he was singing to her, letting her know that everything
was going to be okay, and telling her to breathe easy.
She turned him down when her cell phone began
to ring.
“Hello?”
“You fucking already, ain't you?”
“No, nasty!” Misty spat, to her best friend,
Wendy. “His bus hasn’t gotten here yet, I think something
happened.”
“There you go again, thinking crazy.”
“No. I’m serious this time, he should’ve been
here.”
“How late is the bus?”
“Thirty whole minutes! I’m about to go
fucking crazy!”
“Calm down. It probably just got caught up in
the rush hour traffic. You know how crazy the traffic gets around
this time.”
“I hope that’s the case, because I can’t
handle no more bullshit.”
“Just be patient. He’s coming. Okay?”
“Uhh, okay.”
“If he’s not there in fifteen minutes, go
talk to somebody in the bus terminal. They’ll know if something
happened.”
“Okay.”
“Okay. Call me when he gets there, because I
know he will.”
Misty ended the call and opened the jeep’s
door to talk to somebody in the terminal. She couldn’t wait another
fifteen minutes. She had already waited an agonizing seven years.
The waiting process was old, and supposedly over.
Then out of the corner of her eye, she saw
the large Greyhound bus turning in the station’s parking lot. Misty
jumped out of the jeep, holding her breath. She suddenly became
self-conscious of her appearance, and checked her reflection on her
jeep’s window.
Okay, everything’s in place, she thought. You
still look young. A couple of minutes later, Tywan stepped off the
bus, smiling. She rushed him and they kissed for a long period.
“I thought that something had happened.” she
confessed. “I was worried to death.”
“What did I tell you about thinking so
negative?”
“I know, I just miss you so much.”
“I miss you, too,” he said, grabbing her
hand. “Come on, let’s go.”
She grabbed her cell phone and dialed Wendy’s
number. “Hey, he’s here now.”
“I told you with your crazy ass.”
“Shut up!” Misty said, laughing.
“Put him on the phone.”
She handed Tywan the phone.
“Who is this?” he asked, accepting it.
“It’s Wendy.”
“Oh. Hello?”
“Hey, Ty!”
“What up Wendy? How you doing?”
“I’m good. Welcome home.”
“’Preciate it.”
“I’m glad you’re home now. Now that girl can
quit crying to me about you every day.”
“I’m glad I’m home, too.”
“I’m cooking tomorrow, so come get you a
plate.”
“I will.”
“Okay then. Tell Misty I’ll call her
tomorrow.”
“Alright.”
“And Ty?”
“Huh?”
“Make sure that you sock it to her ass good.
Make her beg you to stop.”
“You crazy! Bye!”
“Bye.”
He ended the call still smiling. “She crazy
as hell.”
“I know she said something nasty.”
“Then you know your friend.”
As she drove to their destination, she
observed him staring out the window in amazement. “What, bay?”
“Everything looks so different to me.”
“That’s because it is. A lot can change in
seven years.”
“I see, I see.”
“I’m so glad that you’re home now. It’s been
so crazy without you.”
