How could he do this to me?

I believed him.

I trusted him.

The sobs finally escaped as I pushed through the doors of the library. The humid air hit me in the face, making me feel even sicker.

“I’m so stupid! God, I’m so stupid.”

By the time I got to my car, I was crying hysterically. A few people asked if I was okay. I couldn’t talk. I could hardly breathe.

Starting the car, I pulled out my phone and called Michelle.

“Hello?”

“He cheated on me.”

Silence.

“Wait. What?”

“Oh my God, Michelle! Wyatt cheated on me last night with some girl named Ashley!”

“Sky, calm down. Are you sure?”

Crying harder, I said, “Yes, I saw a text she sent.”

I heard a door shut.

“Where are you?” she asked.

“In my car. I’m coming to Austin.”

“Now?”

“Please. I don’t know where else to go.”

“Okay, um…let me think. Do you remember the Marriott we stayed at downtown?”

Nodding my head and wiping my tears away, I barely said, “Y-yes.”

“Meet me there. I’ll call now and book a room.”

“Okay,” was all I could manage to get out.

I tried to take in a deep breath, but my chest killed me. It felt like someone had stabbed me with a knife.

“Sky?”

“Yeah?”

“Be careful driving.”

My phone buzzed with another call.

“I will.”

Hitting End, my phone started ringing.

Wyatt.

Wiping my tears away again, I hit Ignore and then turned my phone off before setting it in the seat next to me.

Glancing to the doors, I saw Wyatt coming out with his phone up to his ear.

I quickly pulled away and headed to the highway. “I knew it. It was too good to be true.”

Sneak Peek at
Forever Beautiful

Wyatt

When I walked back up to the table, Skylar was gone along with all of her books. I glanced around.

Where in the hell did she go?

Looking back down at the table, I saw my phone was pulled over to her side of the table. Picking it up, I swiped it open.

When I read the text from Ashley, it was as if someone had hit me with a hundred-pound weight. My heart felt as if it’d jumped to my throat.

How in the hell could I have been so stupid?

Closing my eyes, I yelled out, “Fuck!”

Half of the library looked my way. Grabbing my shit, I pulled up Skylar’s number.

I got her voice mail.

I rushed out the door to see if I could find her.

Her car quickly pulled out of a spot, and she raced out of the parking lot. I stood there, watching her drive off, as I attempted to call her again. She must have turned off her phone as it went straight to voice mail again.

Pushing my hand through my hair, I cursed under my breath, “Son of a bitch.”

My phone buzzed with a text.

It was Michelle.

Michelle: How could you? How could you cheat on her after everything she’s been through? She is devastated! You’re nothing but a prick asshole, and I hope the girl gave you VD!

Closing my eyes, I shook my head. My chest felt like a vise was squeezing down on it.

“Oh God, what have I done?”
