Chloe picked up the magazine, holding it in her hands, somehow feeling calmed by the cool and collected stare of Brody Hawk on the front cover.

She smiled a little, wondering how someone became as confident and self-assured as Brody Hawk.

It probably helps to be handsome as all get out, have a great body, and be an incredible, world-class athlete.

With nothing else to do, she sighed and flipped to the article about Brody. She didn’t mind looking at those pictures of him, especially the half-naked ones.

As focused as she was, Chloe barely heard the door open as someone else came into the waiting room.

Once she realized someone else was there, she froze up a little, not wanting to be noticed or spoken to.

Whoever it was sat down right next to her.

Which was ridiculous, since the waiting room was empty. There were plenty of seats.

Chloe groaned inwardly and kept her eyes glued to the page.

After a moment, the man next to her spoke. “How’s the article?”

She didn’t want to be talked to. Didn’t want to make small talk, especially not here. “It’s fine,” she murmured, still not looking up.

Maybe he’ll get the damn hint and leave me alone.

“You like that guy?” the man asked, obviously not getting the message.

“Not really.”

The man chuckled. He probably liked hearing that women didn’t like Brody Hawk, because of course it would threaten him. “Overpaid like the rest of them,” the man said.

“I don’t know or care. I just think he’s hot.”

“Oh, well sure you do. Women love him.”

“I don’t love him,” she said, growing annoyed now. “He seems like a jerk, actually.”

“But you’d still fuck him.” The man said it with so much certainty. Like he knew everything about her already.

She slapped the magazine shut. “I didn’t say I’d fuck him, asshole. And what kind of jerk says that to a strang—“

Her voice cut off mid-sentence, as she finally looked up.

Oh my God.

It can’t be.

No.

No.

No.

Sitting next to her, a grin on his impossibly perfect face was none other than the highest paid athlete in the world.

“The name’s Brody. Nice to meet you,” he said.
