Her eyes glazed over, and her teeth started nibbling her lower lip again, completely designed to make him crazy, and he loved it every time she did. “Okay, that might not be too bad.”

How the fuck did he get so lucky to have this? His Bella, with him, making him laugh, making him crazy, and he wanted eighty more years of it.

She came over to stand in front of him and brought his face down to hers, kissing him, warm, sweet, silly, sexy kisses, and he returned them with everything he was, because everything he was, was hers.

“Do you think our sex life will suffer when we have kids, or do you think we’ll be able to figure out how to somehow keep this?” she asked when he broke away from her to breathe.

Pushing her hair back to nibble on her neck, he said, “We’ll figure it out. God knows your mom will kidnap them enough to give us some free time, and we can probably do trade-offs with Mel.”

She didn’t answer immediately, humming in pleasure as he found a particularly sensitive spot, and only after he finished did she say, “You’re right. I guess we’ll find out in about a year and a half. I don’t want to start leaving him until he’s at least six months, and it will probably take at least that long for me to feel on the way back to normal. We’ll have to make do until then.”

It took several moments before her words penetrated his brain enough to make him stop kissing her soft skin and instead pull away to look down at her big, shining eyes and trembling lips, and that tremulous smile said,
yes
, he did hear what he thought.

There would be no greater moment in his life than the moment he mated Bella, but here, now, his heart thudded in his chest and expanded, filled up the empty spaces inside until nothing was missing within him, until he was whole and complete in a way entirely foreign and so welcome.

“My Bella.”
The words were salvation and benediction, a prayer answered and fulfilled. Surrounded by the lingering echoes of friends and family, Iron gathered up the miracle that was his mate and gave thanks.
