I interrupted, "Still it's an amazing life. And you have to go back, just like I have to return to mine.”

"You talk too much," he kissed me passionately. Then he rested his head on my breast. I stroked his hair until we both fell asleep. It was nine o'clock in the morning when I awoke. I reached my hand out searching for my lover’s warmth, surprised to not find anyone lying next to me. I got out of the bed and went into the bathroom. He wasn’t there either.

So I wandered out of the bathroom into the living room and spied the dinette table. It had been set for breakfast. Fresh flowers were in the center.  Also, a plate of crispy bacon and a basket of toast were neatly placed. Fancy jars of jam and a dish of butter sat to the side. A pot of freshly brewed coffee gave off its comforting aroma.

"How do you like your eggs?" A deep masculine voice called out from the kitchen. I poked my head in, Nick was cooking.

"Scrambled," I told him. He was both irresistible and adorable while cooking. I gave him a chaste peck on the cheek. He grinned ear to ear.

"Go have a seat and I'll serve you breakfast."

I sat at the dinette and waited. Soon, Nick came out of the kitchen holding our plates. The delicious aroma of breakfast made my stomach rumble. I wolfed down the eggs and bacon. Then spread some butter and jam on a piece of toast. Not only was Nick handsome, but he was a damned good cook. This had to be the best breakfast I'd ever eaten. While we ate I noticed Nick staring at me between bites. I returned his longing gaze.

After we finished Nick spoke, "Come sit on my lap.”

I laughed, "Don’t be ridiculous."

"What's ridiculous?"

“At my size, I'm worried I’ll hurt you."

"I'm a lot stronger than you think I am." He patted his leg with a loud slap.

I sat on his lap and giggled. I half-expected him to tell me to get up. Instead he nuzzled my neck.

"Come with me to L.A." he whispered.

My head spun. Did he just ask me to move in with him?

"That's crazy." I shook my head.

"I can't bear the thought of leaving you.” There was genuineness in his voice. Was this fairytale really happening to me? I stood up and pulled my robe closed.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you." Nick spoke to me and stood.

"No you' didn’t," I said. "There's a part of me that wants to go with you".

"Then do it," he whispered in my ear. "Come back with me."

"It's not that simple. I like my life and my friends. I'm not ready to drop everything and run off.” It hurt to talk to him like that. But I stood my ground.

"You're right." He wrapped comforting arms around me. I breathed in his woody scent. I wanted to stay like this forever.

"One last favor?" He traced the outline of my chin. "Spend the rest of the day with me.”

"Sure," I said. “I feel that we have a lot to talk about.”

He grinned wide and pulled me close.  We stayed like that for a while.

"Perhaps, we should take a shower?" I buried my face into his chest.

"Hopefully together?" He arched an eyebrow.

"I thought you’d never ask.” Then he swept me up. My god, this guy was strong.

As he carried me into the bathroom I giggled. "Put me down. I'm too heavy."

"Not for me." He kissed me softly.
