Chapter

Thirteen

The rest of the weekend is just as good as the first night. I’m enjoying getting to know her, but I keep finding myself comparing her to Alexis, which isn’t fair to Jesse. At least I was man enough to tell Jesse about her, but I still can’t get her out of my system.

Coke helps some with the pain of losing Alexis, and Jesse helps with the rest. She doesn’t know that I use. If she knew, she probably would stop seeing me, since she plays softball. The summer is quickly ending, and she will be going back to school soon.

Since Jesse doesn’t have classes or softball this week, I’m taking her to my condo in Indianapolis instead of back to Bloomington. She hasn’t seen much of Indianapolis.

The hour and a half drive from the cabin to my condo goes by quickly. The conversation with Jesse is light and flowing. She’s thoughtful. She hasn’t met my parents, but she always asks about how they are doing. I think it’s because she misses her own family.

I don’t know how many times I’ve almost let it slip about Tilly, but I always catch myself before it’s too late. I badly want to tell her and let this charade be up. I’m ready to grow up and move on. I really think I’m getting tired of the drama. I’m twenty-three-years old. This shit is getting old.

I pull into my underground garage to my condo. Jesse is taking in the scenery around here.

“Thanks for bringing me here. I love exploring new places. I swear I won’t be calling you every five minutes while you’re at work.” She laughs as we get out the truck.

“There is plenty to do here. I live a few blocks east of the City Market, the Circle, and Circle Centre Mall. I’m sure there will be more than enough to keep you occupied for a while.” I give her a smile as I grab our bags. “I’ll even meet you for lunch. Does that work for you?”

“Aww, that would be great. Speaking of lunch, how about dinner? I’m starving.”

“How about steak? Morton’s Steakhouse is right up the street. I can show you the shower, and while you’re showering, I can make reservations,” I say as I push the buttons on the elevator to take us to my floor.

“I could go for steak. I think you should hurry so you can give me a full tour of your shower,” she says with a wink.

“Now that sounds like a plan.” The elevator doors open to my floor, and I take her to my door. “You’re the first female, besides my mother, to come into my condo. It’s a total bachelor pad, so excuse the mess.”

It’s not a mess at all. I’m OCD about keeping my shit clean, especially since Tilly likes to drop by. I don’t need her shit laying around.

“Oh, Chet. This is an excellent space. Gorgeous. I love the view of the city.” She gazes out the windows, and I come up behind her and start kissing her exposed neck. She clears her throat. “Can you show me to the shower? I need to go to the powder room, and then I’ll start to shower. I would love for you to join me in there.” She slightly pulls away.

I laugh. “Yes. It’s down the hall and on the right. That is the master bedroom. And there is an en-suite bathroom. I’ll show you that as well.” Picking her bag back up, I take her by the hand and lead her to bathroom.

I grab our towels and washcloths and lay everything out for our shower on the counter. I leave her so I can make my reservations and she can do her thing.

We have reservations for Morton’s in two hours, giving us time to take a great shower with a little sex included. As I walk back to the bathroom, I make sure I have condoms with me this time.

I gently knock on the bathroom door when I hear the shower running.

“Come in, sexy. You know I’m waiting for you,” Jesse says breathlessly.

“Waiting, huh? Are you sure you’re ready for what I have for you?”

“More than ready. Hurry your ass up. I want some more of what you gave me this morning,” she demands.

“Yes, ma’am,” I say as I finish taking off my clothes.

Stepping into the steamy shower, I look at the curvy vixen standing in front of me. I pull her into me and kiss her deeply. I want her to be turned on. I’m going to fuck her hard against the wall of the shower. Not breaking our kiss, I move my hands down her body and run my hand down to her mound. Hopefully it’s wet from excitement and not the shower.

Placing one finger at her opening, I slowly push it in, and she moans in my mouth. I pump it slowly in and out, adding another finger. She is so ready.

“You’re soaking wet. Are you ready for me?” I ask her.

She shyly nods.

I reach for the condom I thought I laid in the shower. It’s missing. I stick my head out the shower and see it on the counter.

“Shit. I left the condoms on the counter. Be right back.” I hurry up and grab the condom. On the way to the shower, I open it and roll it on before I get back in. “Are you still ready for me?”

“Yes!”

Pushing her hard against the wall, I put my hands below her ass and lift her legs up, using the wall as support. She loosely wraps her legs around me. I align my cock with her center and slam into her.

Sucking in a deep breath, she cries out, “Ohh!”

“Are you okay?” I ask, making sure I didn’t cause her pain.

“Yes, that feels amazing. Please don’t stop.”

“I don’t plan on it. I plan to make you scream my name a few times before we eat dinner. I want to make sure you’re starving by the time we eat.” I give her a huge grin.

“That better be a promise.”

“Oh, it is.”

For the next hour, I show her how I keep my promises in several different positions in my huge shower. Thank God the water never gets cold.

We make it to Morton’s right on time. We have an excellent dinner, and it’s exactly how I wanted to end the weekend.

Hopefully this will be a great week.

Fall

A few months go by, and Jesse and I fall into a comfortable pattern. I’m attracted to her, but I don’t think it’s love. The sex is amazing, and she is fun to be around. She isn’t the one for me, but she is making me forget about Alexis, especially with these little photo sessions we’ve been having while in the bedroom.

I give Jess a call because I know she had team physicals today.

“Hey, baby. How was your doctor’s appointment? Cleared to play another season of ball?” I ask.

She hesitates. “Hey, I received some unexpected news. I don’t want to tell you over the phone. Can you come over?”

Oh shit, wonder what this is about. I wonder if she found out about my sister.

“Sure. Give me a few hours. Do you want me to pick up dinner on the way down?”

“Yes, that would be perfect. Thank you. I’ll see you when you get here.”

“Bye, Jesse.”

“Bye.” And she hangs ups.

I sit there and listen to the dial tone on my office phone. My mind starts racing. I think about all the things I should say to her about whatever is going on. I should be freaking out, but instead, I hurry up and get through the rest of my work so I can leave for the weekend.

***

I finally make it to Bloomington after dealing with the insane traffic on 31. I called Applebee’s when I was halfway to Jess’s place to order our takeout dinner. Hopefully she didn’t find out what Tilly is doing and how I am part of her plan. I’m really over this, though I’ve enjoyed getting to know Jesse. She’s a sweet girl, but I don’t deserve a girl like her. I’m ready for Tilly to get her shit together so I can get far away from Jesse before I end up hurting her.

I better call so she can open the door for me. I dial and it goes to voicemail. I’ll give her a few minutes and I’ll call her back.

“Hey, this is Jesse. You know what to do…”
What the hell? I call back and it just rings.

I pull up in front of her house. Her car is in the driveway, which is strange because she normally parks in the garage. I park and grab our food.

I knock on the door. Nothing. I keep knocking, and I still don’t hear her. I check the door. It’s locked. Finally, after fifteen minutes of pounding on the door, she answers.

“Hey, babe. I’ve been trying to call you for the past thirty minutes. Everything okay?” I ask her with a little worry in my voice.

“Sorry, I dozed off after I talked to you. Need help?” she asks while stretching out her back.

“Yeah. Can you take the food and get plates for us? I stopped at Applebee’s and picked up your favorite salad. Is that okay.”

“Yes, I’m starving,” she says, taking the bags from my hand and heading toward the kitchen.

I follow her and get drinks out of the fridge.

“Do you want wine or a beer?” I ask, looking at her.

“Umm…water, please.” She didn’t look up when she answered. That was a little strange.

“Are we going to talk about what you found out today?” I say, looking at her. She finally glances up at me, and she pales like she’s going to get sick.

“Let’s sit down and I’ll start.” We sit down and get our food all situated. “The team doctor was concerned about some issues I was having with my stomach and how I was feeling. He ran a few blood tests and did a pregnancy test to make sure to rule that out, and…well, I’m pregnant. He estimated that I’m six weeks along. I have to go to my OBGYN to find out for sure next week…” she says, upset. She’s on edge.

Holy shit. I just look at her. This is not how I had planned this going. Shit, shit, shit. I still can’t form any words. I have to make this work.

“Oh, Jesse. What do you want to do?” I ask, scared out of my freaking mind. “I mean, do you want to keep it or have an abortion…?”

“How dare you even think I would do anything to harm an innocent baby!” she says as she slaps me across the face.

Damn, she has a hand on her. “Jesse, I didn’t mean it like that. You have a lot going on and you are going to have to give up a lot of things, but if you want to keep the baby, marry me. I have a great job and I have a place we can live. You can stay home or you can look for a job. I don’t mind, either way.”

She looks at me like I’m crazy. Hell, I’m insanely crazy, but this is my baby too. Shit. I’m going to have to get myself cleaned up if I want to be a good role model.

“I don’t know. This is all too fast. I’m going to be a mother…I haven’t even told my family. How am I supposed to tell my father? I’m supposed to graduate and take over the company…I can’t do this.” She breaks down into a sobbing mess.

I try to comfort her by taking her in my arms and carrying her to her bed. I lay her down and I lie down with her. I try to calm her down by telling her we will make everything work.

After a half hour, she finally calms down enough to have a conversation.

“I’m so sorry I slapped you. I knew too many girls in high school that took that route and I told myself I would never do that to a baby. Yes, I would like to keep it. I don’t know how all of this will work. I would hate for you to not be in the baby’s life. I want our child to have both parents. I don’t know what I am going to tell my father. I will have to quit school because my scholarship is for playing softball. I don’t know if I can go to school and take care of a baby, so I’ll drop out. I guess I’ll tell my father what is going on after everything is already done. It’s easier to ask for forgiveness after doing something than it is after you’ve been told no and you do it anyway.” The words rush out of her mouth.

I just look at her. I’m freaking out, trying to figure out what the hell I said an hour ago. Somehow, she already has everything worked out.

“I’m serious. I will marry you.” I throw it out there. I’m trying to do the right thing. Shit. Tilly is going to be pissed.

“Okay.” She looks at me with tears running down her face. “Courthouse is fine. We can do fancy later.”

“Okay. Come back here. I’ll make you feel better and make you forget about all of our problems for now,” I say. I start kissing my way down her neck.

I slowly remove her shirt. I lift it over her head and toss it on the floor. She is wearing a lacy bra, which is a treat because she often wears a sports bra. My cock hardens even more. I reach around and unhook the hooks that are keeping her bra in place and gently pull it down her arms. I toss it on the floor with her shirt and then start kissing and sucking on her breasts. For a softball player, Jesse’s breasts are full and firm. Maybe that’s from the pregnancy, but I can’t get enough of them.

She starts moaning and pants with every suck and lick of her breasts. I take one of her nipples into my mouth and tease the other one with my fingers.

Chapter

Fifteen

My sister is livid about the situation. She’s in Colorado, making her move on Jesse’s father. God, I hope he doesn’t figure any of this out. I didn’t want to make Jesse suspect anything, so asking her to marry me was the first thing that popped into my head. I don’t want to be a part of my sister’s plan anymore. Now I’m going to be a father and I’m way over my head. I hope I gave Tilly enough to accomplish her plan. She needs to get on with her life and out of mine. I made it very clear. She has money and plenty of it, especially since she is getting involved with McCoy.

I have phone calls to make to get things in line. I’m going to get married. I know it’s not the way I planned it nor is it with the person I thought I would marry, but it’s the way it’s happening. I know my second call will be to my mother, who will help me handle most of this.

***

I can’t believe by this time Saturday, I’ll be a husband, and in less than eight months, I’ll be a father. I couldn’t let Jesse get married in the courthouse, so I’m taking her to a wedding chapel in Brown County. We’re getting married there and doing a short honeymoon. Her father, sister, and brother are flying in from Denver early tomorrow morning, and my parents will be driving in from Indy Friday night to watch us exchange vows. Thank God Tilly had the smarts not to even try to come.

I will be meeting her family for the first time. I’ve talked to her father a few times on the phone. I was nervous as hell when I called him to ask for Jesse’s hand. I almost shit myself when I told him that I got his little girl pregnant. There was silence on the line, and I thought for sure he was going to tell me I was a dead man. But he told me that as long as she was happy, then he would agree to the marriage. I honestly don’t know what I would have done if he would have said no.

Jesse met my parents the weekend she told me she was pregnant. I thought my mom was going to freak out because I was making her a grandma before she was fifty, but she was okay with it once she met Jesse. She fell in love with her. My dad was pretty impressed with Jesse too. She isn’t who I pictured myself spending the rest of my life with, but I think I can grow to love her. I know I won’t be cheating on her. I’ve been there and done that. It freaking sucks.

For Jesse being from a very wealthy family, Jesse doesn’t act like it. She doesn’t throw her family’s wealth in your face. She is kind, sweet, innocent, and caring, the qualities that I wouldn’t associate with myself. I am none of them. I mean, she can be a little crazy at times, but that just adds to what makes her Jesse, especially when she smiles or laughs. I love her qualities as much as I love her. They really do make my day.

Holy shit. Wait, love? When did I fall in love with her? I try to figure out the moment I stopped thinking of Alexis and starting thinking of only Jesse. It was the day she told me she was pregnant. That dose of reality makes me realize that maybe I’m ready for this, but I really don’t have any choice; it’s happening no matter what. For once, I’m okay with one of my monumental fuck ups.

Jesse and I just finished moving Jesse’s things from her house in Bloomington into my condo and storage. We’re going to look at houses once we get back from our honeymoon. I have looked at a few online that I can afford already. There are a few close to my parents, but I don’t want to be that close to them. I could see my mom coming over every day after the baby is born, although that might be nice for Jesse. We will have to see how it works out.

My friends wanted to throw me a bachelor party tomorrow night, but I really don’t want to let Jesse out of my sight. She hasn’t been feeling the greatest. I don’t want to take a chance on something happening to her or the baby while I’m out having fun. Yeah, I might be growing up just a little bit.

Jesse’s family arrived at Indianapolis International Airport a little after noon. We rented a limo to ride in together down to Brown County. I forgot to include the McCoy’s personal bodyguard. Hopefully he doesn’t mind riding up front. I hope he isn’t the guy that my sister knows. He keeps staring at me, so I am thinking he is.

Pearse McCoy isn’t anything like I thought he would be. He’s a big man, and his voice is just as big. He is quiet but straight to the point. He looks nothing like Jesse. He has dark brown hair with brown eyes to match and is easily six foot five. He makes me feel small.

He gives me a firm handshake. “Chet. Pearse McCoy. I hope you’re taking good care of my little girl.” If looks could kick your ass, I would be on the ground.

“Yes, sir, I am. I plan on making Jesse happy for the rest of our lives.” I give him my best honest smile. There’s no need to bullshit my way through this. I know he would be able to see right through it.

“Good to hear. If I hear differently…? Let’s just say we don’t hear differently. Chet, this is my other daughter, Reese, and my son, Tierney.”

I shake both of their hands. “Nice to meet you both. Jesse is sitting in the limo waiting on us. She wasn’t feeling well on the way here. She thought she would rest while waiting on you to arrive,” I tell them.

“Mr. Wade is attending to our luggage. Let’s go meet him at luggage claim and get our bags so I can see Jesse. It’s been way too long.” With that, he heads off to the baggage claim.

Jesse is asleep when I get to the limo. I gently wake her up so she can greet her family. Her eyes flood with tears when they land on her father.

“Oh, Daddy. I am so glad to see you. Reese and Ty, It’s so good to see you too.” She gives them all big hugs, but Mr. McCoy seems a little cold to her.

Jesse seems to notice, but she doesn’t let it affect her behavior with her siblings. She asks them how school is going and then asks them other questions to make sure that their lives are going well. We all get loaded up in the limo and start the less than two-hour drive to Nashville, Indiana.

I hope this place is as nice as my mom made it out to be. I hear Reese whispering to Jess that their father has met someone. Reese and Tierney haven’t met her yet. All they know is that their father calls her Tilly. Jesse looks like she is going to be sick.

“Jesse, are you okay, baby?” I ask in my most sincere voice.

“Um, yes, just had a little motion sickness. I’m okay now.” She looks at me with tears forming in her eyes.

“Are you sure? There is water and fruit in the mini fridge. I made sure they stocked it in case someone needed refreshments before we made it to Nashville,” I say, letting her know that I will make sure she is taken care of.

“Yes. Thank you, Chet. I think I’m going to close my eyes for a few minutes.”

She closes her eyes. I notice her sister is rubbing the palm of her hand. Jesse likes it when someone she cares about rubs her palm when she isn’t feeling well.

I remember her telling me that her mother used to rub the palm of her hand when she would get sick when she was younger. She hated to be touched, but her mother was a cuddler, so she would rub her hand so she still could touch her without smothering Jesse.

Pearse glances up to me, over at Jesse, and back to me. Maybe he’s trying to figure out if I am serious about this marriage or if it’s a sham. I’m surprised he didn’t ask about a prenup. I’m not even going to bring it up. I’m not worried about it. I’m in this for the long haul.

We finally arrive at the little bed and breakfast we are staying at and Jesse is impressed with what I set up. I can’t believe she let my mother pick out everything. Jesse was ready to get married in the courthouse. I wouldn’t have it.

We all get settled in. I’m staying in the honeymoon suite while Jesse shares a room with her sister. We check out the chapel to make sure everything is set up how we want it. We eat dinner together and go our separate ways after we eat. My cell phone starts going off once I get to the room.

Jesse: I love you big daddy. I hope you have me screaming that tomorrow.

Me: Why don’t you come to our room now, and I’ll show you big daddy.

Jesse: I don’t want to jinx our wedding! Are you crazy?

Me: Chicken.

Jesse: You’ve met my father, right?

Me: Point taken. Are you ready for all this?

Jesse: I think so. I know it’s not going to be perfect, but I think we will be okay.

Me: Me too. Hey Jesse?

Jesse: Yes?

Me: I love you too.

Jesse: Night, Chet.

Me: Night, Jesse.

I plug my cell phone in and strip off my clothes to get ready for bed. I get into bed and start thinking about all the ways that I am going to have Jesse screaming my name tomorrow night.
