The noise, once deafening and now just an irritation, was coming from the bombshell. Her lips were barely moving, but she was definitely…singing? Lilith looked up at her two guards. There were traces of normal attraction, but it wasn’t the source of what she was feeling.

Then Lilith caught sight of Chance again and her heart started pounding. He was calmly staggering toward her, mesmerized. The mysterious woman curled her lips into a grin and then belted out a note that ripped through the air. Lilith fell to her knees and so did Chance, but for very different reasons. Blood trickled down from Lilith’s ears but Chance gazed up at the blonde with complete adoration. It was enough to shatter her heart. Panicked breaths made her chest feel like fire. She’d endure a lifetime of the banshee screams to unsee the look on Chance’s face at that moment.

The blonde woman set her ice blue eyes on Chance as the screeching subsided again. She sauntered right up to him as four guys in the same SWAT uniforms came up behind her, flanking with their weapons resting casually in their arms.

The woman tickled her fingers through Chance’s chestnut brown hair lighting an instant rage in Lilith’s belly. “So handsome.” Her voice had a sing-song tone to it that set Lilith’s teeth on edge. “And such a good boy.” Her voluminous lips stretched into a wicked grin. Slowly she raised her ice blue eyes to Lilith as she cocked her head to one side. “I don’t suppose you’d let me keep him?”

Lilith screamed and fought furiously against the two men holding her. “Don’t fucking touch him.” Her heart was pounding fiercely in her chest, her own anger chasing away all traces of her migraine.

The woman’s lips formed a perfect pout. “I take it that’s a no. Pity.” Reluctantly she motioned the men at her side to take Chance. With a curt nod, the four men took hold of his arms and dragged him toward the elevator. The henchmen holding Lilith started pulling her forward and full panic began to set in. She smashed her heel into the shin of the man to her right and brought her head straight up into the chin of the man to the left. Lilith ran for the blonde with everything she had. No way was this bitch taking them anywhere.

In one fluid motion, the woman just snatched Lilith and pulled her close. The next thing she knew there was a knife at her throat. Lilith wanted to fight, to break the bitch’s face, but the sharp bladed was already biting at her skin.

“Who the fuck are you?” Lilith snarled as her fists clenched uselessly at her sides.

“Who I am is not important.” Her voice was soft with that lilting quality that should sound beautiful but was somehow just malicious. “It’s who sent me that should concern you. I’m sure Cohen can’t wait to see you. I don’t think he cares much for Chance, so maybe they’ll just let me play with him.” Lilith could literally feel the sick amusement and attraction vibrating off the woman. “I wouldn’t have to force him you know. He’d come to me…begging.”

“You better hope whoever hired you kills me. Because if they don’t, I’m gonna shoot you in your pouty face, you toxic bitch.”

A peel of laughter filled the room like nails on a chalkboard. “Oh this is going to be so much fun.”
