"I'm scared." She laughed nervously. "I mean anybody would since they only accept one person in all of us. It is a miracle that these people don't go around and strangle each other on the spot."

"Wow. It is that hard to get in?" I was honestly shocked by her statement. My eyes were then met by her surprised face, as though I was the strangest
creature on Earth!

"You didn't know? And you came here? Man, I don't know how well you had prepared but...good luck." Her eyes softened as she looked at me. Maybe because she knew that she just had one less competitor. "I am guessing you have some substantial experience, right?"

"You assumed that because of my age, aren't you?" My inner voice sounded so sad. Sigh. It was 95% the reason that my husband left me. That bastard.

"Not really, I just...got recommended from a friend to come here." I regained my small burst of emotion and spoke up.

"You sure are lucky ma'am. I mean almost all of the people in this room are elites." Ana scanned around the room and paused at a young chubby man with short hair and long beard.

"You see that guy right over there? His name is Kai. He graduated at the top of his school, Harvard. He is the biggest threat for anybody here."

I sat there and listened to all the stories that Ana was telling me. She was right, she did her homework very carefully. Too carefully in fact. She knew everybody in the room inside and out, except for me of course. That was the reason why she immediately started a conversation with me the moment I sat down. Time flew really fast since I loved gossip also. Unfortunately, it was her turn so I wished her a successful interview. I didn't like the idea that I was competing with these over the top students. I was just a housewife that loved to read for god's sake.

Very soon it was my turn. Breathing out sharply, I stood up and walked to the door where another blond girl was holding it opened waiting for me. "What's with beauty and doors in this place," I wondered.

Chapter 3: The Interview (2)

Passing through the door, sat before me were four professionally dressed interviewers. Three men and one woman. Opposite to them was a table, with all kinds of papers placed in an organized fashion, and a chair, which I assumed was for me to sit down in. I took a quick glance across the simplistic and modern room. Mostly white and silver color walls with huge glass windows. There were two doors, the one that I entered and the one that was opposite to me. Strangely, however, in a corner of the room placed a big white sofa. Too big that I couldn't see if it was being used by anybody or not.

"Welcome, Mrs. Meldia. Come here and take a seat.” The woman with short blond hair and dressed in a bright red dress invited me over. She really did stand out. Like blood in the snow. "My name is Rosa. Rosa Queen. This is Ted, Ross, and David. We are the ones that will interview you for today." The other three men nodded but were still looking down, like they were incredibly busy or something. How rude.

"Hello, how are you all doing?" I greeted them each with a handshake before sitting down. They took a minute reviewing my resume and also whispered in each other ears. Stretching my ears as big as I could, still I couldn't make out what they were saying at all. Hopefully nothing too bad.

"So tell me Mrs. Meldia. Why do you think that you are fit to do this job?" Rosa looked up to me with an intense gaze. One look from her and I had already knew that Rosa was a leader type. The one that would volunteer to do any work as well as making plans for others to work. Her eyes had an aura. An intimidation aura. "What a woman!" I said to myself. I would give anything to get her confidence.

"Ahem." Clearing my throat, I said, "I have done some editing for a writer in your company named Cane. He was very pleased with my work, which was the reason he recommended that I try out. I also have a degree in English, however I was working full-time at that time as well. I am not saying it to be an excuse, I am just saying it for somewhat an understanding why I didn't get a high score in my grades." Wow, now that I said it out loud. I really didn't have any special skill for this job at all.

"Mrs. Meldia. I know that our writer, Cane, recommended you for this job. However to be fair with other people, I still need to put you through the same process as everybody else. And quite frankly, your resume doesn't measure up to our standard. Not. Even. In. One. Category." The woman seemed rather too blunt about it while the other three men nodded in agreement.

I was a bit disappointed and sad really, however I wasn't surprised. Still, I at least needed to try before giving up, or else Linda would chew my head open.

"Listen, I know that I don't have a lot of experience, or even official records about the very small amount of experience that I have. But reading has always been a passion for me. I enjoyed the feeling, the images that popped up in my head whenever I read. Not only that I am a strange person so I often look for mistakes in books. I can guarantee you that I do not do this for the money or for other people. I do it for me. Because I find fun in doing so. And I don't know if it is a good thing or not however I think that every company should have passionate workers, such as myself," I said loudly and confidently, but my fists were clenched and my skin was sweating.

The woman took off her glass and cleaned it while saying, "I understand so Mrs. Meldia. Of course, our company requires passionate workers, however you are just not even remotely close to our lowest standard. I don't think you are fit for this job at all. You are welcome to g..." She made a gesture to tell me to go, without even making any eye contact at all. Damn you red, Rosa. But just as she was about to finish her sentence.

"You are welcome to work for us." Suddenly a husky voice came out of nowhere which made all of us jumped from our seats.

Chapter 4: The Luck

My jaw dropped as soon as I saw the figure emerging from the sofa. Tall, dark, with impossibly luscious hair and beautiful sharp features.

"You are...the one in the elevator." I could barely push the air from my lungs out to my mouth. "Why is he here?"

Red Rosa and the other three men were stunned. They turned around and immediately stood up when they saw him. "Mr. Hunter, how are you doing sir?" They bowed their head down and greeted him. Red Rosa's face was turning red as well. Her confidence was now gone! Dissipated into nothingness.

"Phew!" I sighed in relief. "So it's not just me."

"B...but Mr. Hunter. She doesn't have any special attributes that could help our company. If we blindfolded ourselves and shot a dart into the files on the table, I am sure we would find someone better than her." Rosa looked up at the young man before her while criticizing me. Oh, just shut up Rosa.

My slow mind began to catch up. "Wait. Mr. Hunter? As in Bradian Hunter? The CEO of HB? Oh my god! I heard that he was young, but now that he is standing in front of me, he looks even younger! How can one person be this beautiful, attractive and also talented? Not fair!" My lips pursed at the thought.

"Experience can be built Ms. Hana. However, I know that your department needs a new Editor right now. So just go ahead and hire another one. Mrs. Meldia here will be working for me," he said in a friendly, yet commanding manner, with just enough pressure behind his voice for others to know that he was serious.

"Of course sir." The four interviewers politely agreed. No more questions were asked.

"Alright. Now Mrs. Meldia, please come with me." He sweetly smiled and put out his right hand waiting for me.

"Give me, give me. That beautiful hand. If I could just have it, so many erotic things I could do with it
.
" My inner voice began to ravage inside my mind once again.

My eyes stuck on his beautiful body and I stood up. Forgetting that on my lap were some of the extra papers that I had prepared for the interview. They dropped to the ground and flew everywhere. Everywhere!

"Ah shit," I muttered softly, it was a reflex that I was trying to stop. Cursing when dropping something wasn't something that I wanted my little angel Jason to hear. Squatting down with great difficulty due to my tight dress and high heels, I began to pick up my papers. Then I had to stand up and run to another corner where some papers had flown to. What an embarrassment!

Bradian Hunter ran toward me in his fashionable shoes. "Here." He helped me by picking up a folder and handing it to me. He was so close! Those beautiful blue eyes. "Argh, control yourself Jess."

"Thanks," I said while looking down so that he couldn't see that I was blushing. After spending the next minute picking up all my papers. He walked out of the door, holding it opened and said, "Let's go Mrs. Meldia."

Quickly walking through the door, he followed and walked beside me. After walking for five minutes, I couldn't hold back my curiosity as well as the need to try and break the silence between us. "So what kind of work are you looking for me to edit?"

"I don't know yet, but I am sure we can figure something out for you to do." Rubbing his index finger and thumb on his chin, he paused for a second and said. "How about this? You will, for the time being, review some of my work. Think of it as an investment so you would be familiar to my writing style as well as what topics I usually write in."

"I see. But what kind of genre do you write in? Thriller? Fantasy? Horror? Romance?" Oh boy, was I curious. Wanting to know more about this good-looking-like-a-god fellow was my mission for the day.

"Hahaha. Mrs. Meldia. You are really interesting." For some reason, he laughed at me. "Did I say something funny?" I wondered.

Chapter 5: Lucky Streak

After walking for a couple more minutes, he began, saying, "Do you know why I choose you, just one person, to be my exclusive editor?" Turning to his right to face me, he continued. "When I want something, I want it to be mine only."

Blushing like a red strawberry, my heart began pacing and smashing in my chest. "What does he mean by that?" I didn't want to overthink what he was saying. "He wants me? No...Can't be. He could have anybody with this look, charm, and more money than god. Why would he choose a person who is at least ten years older than him?" Shaking my head, I tried to erase the thought.

"Not only that. I consider myself to be a businessman instead of a writer Mrs. Meldia. So my work needs to be revised many, many times before being published." He sighed at his own weakness.

"I have a question Mr. Hunter. Why did you choose me?" Squeezing out some of bravery juice, I looked straight into his blue crystal eyes.

"Because I am interested in you Mrs. Meldia. Furthermore, I don't like random people to work for me. Every worker in this place was filtered out from the best of the best of course. However, I don't connect with them on a personal level, and I think that my Editor should be in such a level." He began to explain while I continued to check out his beautiful eyes. "Damn it Jess. Stop staring."

"B...but I am a random person too." I got more and more confused with this young man. I had no skill, no special talent nor any excessive experience. I wasn't even a good socialist. It wasn't that I was putting myself down, but I was just realistic about my abilities.

"You are not a random person Mrs. Meldia. We've met before." Bradian smiled again at me and said softly in his husky voice. I blinked and scratched my eyes for a second there; I swore that I saw his body were sparkling.

"What? Really? Where?" Staring at his body mindlessly, I muttered out some one-word questions.

"In that elevator, Mrs. Meldia." He giggled at me like it was such a good joke. I pursed out my lower lip. "So lame."

"Seriously. I want an answer Mr. Hunter. I don't like working for people who has an ulterior motive." I diverted my eyes to face his but in my mind, "Please have an ulterior motive with me. Please!"

"Please, call me Brad. And don't be so tense Mrs. Meldia. I mean no harm. At the moment, I don't have an answer for you. I just wanted to help. Maybe I am just that nice of a person. And you are welcome by the way." He raised an eyebrow and said sarcastically.

Giving him my doubted face, I asked: "So when will I start to work?" Still, I needed a job and the thought of being able to see this young man again made my hormones cracking up in my body.

"I am busy these couple days so I think next Monday will be a great time for you to come in." He stopped to think for a moment and handed me his card. "If you have any question, please contact me at this number."

Taking the card from his hand, my hand grazed his and immediately, I panicked. I pulled my hand right back instinctively. Like I was scared. "What the hell was that Jess?" My inner voice yelled at me.

Looking up at Bradian Hunter, I saw that he was smiling at me, as though he was entertained or something. I must have looked like a fool. Too embarrassed, I hugged my portfolios tightly against my chest and walked quickly away from him.

Just ten steps and another thing happened. "Ah!" I fell down on the granite ground as an anchor in the ocean. "Thud!" My right heel was broken!

Chapter 6: Unpredictable

Bradian Hunter ran up to me and said, "Are you ok Mrs. Meldia?" He looked really concerned.

"Yeah, I am ok." He tried to hold me up, but it was no use. I fell down again. I could feel it now, the throbbing pain in my right ankle.

"No, you are not ok. You have sprained your ankle." Leaning down and caressing my wound, he was very understanding and caring.

"W...wait. Hang on," I yelped as he lifted me up with one hand on my back and the other on my leg. I held my hands together around his neck trying not to fall down.

"Be still Mrs. Meldia. It's not good if you fall down once again." He turned and looked at me. We were so close. If I could just stretch my head a little bit, I would surely be tasting his lips. The pain in my ankle suddenly turned into adrenaline as I began to think about kissing him.

"M...my shoes," I softly said to him.

Bradian Hunter looked at a random person in the hallway and said: "You."
