His chuckle was dark. “Oh, no, baby, prayers won’t save you.” Moving quickly, he stood her on her unsteady feet. “On your knees.” She stared at him, dumbfounded with the sudden change.

“What?” She was dazed, and her body was shaking with need so fierce her knees almost collapsed under her.

“On your knees. Don’t make me repeat myself, or you won’t come tonight at all.”

She dropped down in front of him. She’d have done anything at that point. Her mouth dropped open as she watched in fascination as his hand slowly freed his erection. It sprang up, long and hard, reaching up to his navel. She watched in fascination as he stroked his length several times, using his thumb to spread glossy pre-cum over the swollen head. Finally, he crooked his finger.

“Come here. I’m going to fuck that pretty mouth.”

Willa contemplated the pulsing cock in front of her. She didn’t bother telling him that she had no clue what she was doing. She figured he knew that. And she was on a submissive high. He’d completely dominated her. Her ass was on fire, her pussy hot, wet, and weeping with need. If he wanted to fuck her mouth, she’d let him.

She placed a trembling hand on each of his knees and knelt over him, placing a hot open-mouth kiss to the very tip of him. He threaded his fingers through her hair, anchoring her.

“Use your tongue, baby, lick me,” he instructed. “Get me good and wet before I slide between those sexy lips.”

Willa whimpered. She loved when his voice turned dark and gravelly. Her tongue flicked out to trace around the engorged head. He tasted salty and all male. She couldn’t resist running her tongue up the length of him. He was so hot.

“Enough playing, open up,” he commanded, though she noted the slight tremor in his voice and realized that he wasn’t as cool as he was pretending to be.

Opening wide, she sucked him down, working to get as much of his glorious erection into her mouth as she could. He was so damn big she had to be careful with her teeth. Yet, when she accidentally scraped him, he groaned, and she realized he liked that edge of pain as much as she did. After that, she went to work in earnest, sucking and licking him with enthusiasm.

“Stop!” he rasped, gently but firmly pulling her off him with the hand he had threaded through her hair. “Bed, now!”

Her robe was still loosely hanging from her, and he quickly sent it to the floor before scooping her up and tossing her onto the wide mattress. He was on her, sliding inside in less than a heartbeat.

“Fuck, baby, you make me insane. All I can think about is being inside you.” His dick shuttled in and out of her hot pussy, slurping, smacking sounds filling the room as he pounded home. Digging her heels into the bed, she arched up to meet him thrust for thrust. She slid her hands down the length of his back to cup his flexing ass. He groaned. “Ah, shit yeah, dig your nails into me. Show me how much you want me.”

And she did. Her nails dug into his flesh as she screamed her orgasm, stars dancing before her eyes. Gasping for breath, she watched as he threw back his head, his long auburn hair falling around him. His roar probably shook the roof as he shot jet after steaming jet of cum into her still-pulsing core.

They froze, suspended for a long moment before he collapsed, tumbling to the side and dragging her on top of him.

Several long, deep, grating breaths passed before he softly asked, “Are you okay, baby?”

“I think my brain’s fried.” She chuckled softly.

“Is that a good thing?” he asked, but she could hear the amusement in his voice.

She leaned up to place a gentle kiss onto his lips. “It’s a very good thing.”

As they snuggled under the old quilt, enjoying the stillness of the night, Willa couldn’t help but think she was happier than she’d ever been in her entire life. And that was just damn scary.

Reb stared into his beer. He fucking hated this shit. Well, not the beer, but just about everything else. He always had to be on guard, always had to watch his back. It was no way to live, but it was the only life he’d ever known. His father had founded Southern Rising four decades before. He’d grown up in the gang. He was ten years old before he realized that everyone didn’t have guns sitting on their coffee table or bags of weird white powder in crates in their garage.

The old man had gone down in a blaze of bullets and glory, swearing the South would rise again. Then his older brother, Ren, had taken over. Ren had been short for Renegade.

The old man had been big on unique names. He was Rebel, and their little sister was Freedom. They called her Free. What the hell kind of name was what for a girl? She’d hated it.

Big brother was presently doing twenty to life for second-degree murder, and little sis was in the ground near the old man from a drug overdose. Reb had ended up the leader of Southern Rising by default. He hadn’t wanted anything to do with it. All he’d really ever enjoyed doing was playing the battered old guitar his mother had given him right before she’d walked out on them.

He took another long drag of his beer. As he did, his eyes fell onto the green plastic band around his wrist. It was time to make a decision. He could live the rest of his life like this, not that it would be a very long life. He already had scars from being stabbed twice and shot once. Yeah, he could die like his old man, or he could do something drastic. He could spend his life running guns and dealing drugs, or he could take fate into his own hands.

It was time to plan. Finishing his beer, he turned to his next in command. “Sid, you find the information I asked you to?”

“Sure thing, boss. Her name is Willamena Montgomery.”

Chapter Nine

The warm sun washed through the meadow. All around them there was bright, cheerful activity. Willa struggled to take it all in. She’d always heard such wonderful tales of the Annual Renaissance Fair, and she still couldn’t believe Danny had talked her into taking the afternoon off to go.

“Are you sure the girls can handle the bed-and-breakfast for the afternoon?” she asked her friend, yet again.

Danny rolled her eyes. “It will be fine. You worry too much.”

“But the inn is full.” So was just about every hotel in town. Their little town exploded for one week a year as people came from all over to enjoy the fair.

“And everyone’s here,” Danny countered. She’d talked Willa into leaving her baby, her bed-and-breakfast, in the hands of two of her library aids. The girls were sweet, but flighty. She must have seen the doubt surfacing on Willa’s face because she gave her hand a gentle squeeze. “It will be fine. All they have to do is babysit the place. They tell people the inn is full if they show up looking for rooms. Dinner is in the slow cooker, so you can spend the afternoon relaxing and enjoying yourself. You deserve it.”

Dinner was traditional lamb stew in honor of the festival. She’d also made loaves of fresh crusty bread and a wild-berry tart for dessert. Mariah and Tiffany were settled in the parlor working on homework and promised to call if anything came up. Danny was right, but it was very hard to relax.

“Come on, you work too hard.” This came from Danny’s friend Gloria. Danny had introduced her to the woman several months before, and the three had been hanging out ever since. She still found it interesting that sweet, refined Gloria and Gabe’s father, a crusty, bearded biker, were a couple, but they seemed to make each other happy despite the May-December aspect of their relationship. “The guys will spend the afternoon at the man games, so we can enjoy ourselves.”

“You know you want to try some of the food vendors,” Danny teased.

This section of the fair was set up with vendors of all kinds. They were selling everything from handmade jewelry to homemade soaps. Laughing, Willa finally let herself relax and enjoy an afternoon of girl time.

At the millinery tent, they bought beautiful handmade scarves, and at the apothecary, they had custom perfumes made for themselves.

“Jake’s going to love that.” Danny smiled, giving Willa a wink.

Willa blushed, but she hoped Danny was right.

“It still blows my mind.” Gloria shook her head. “Jake’s always been so big and just a little bit scary to me.”

“Says the lady dating a grizzly bear,” Danny teased.

“Smokey’s not a grizzly bear. He’s a teddy bear,” Gloria countered, but Willa had to agree with her. The big burly biker was a teddy bear. Jake, now he was a lion, big and dangerous. She loved that fact.

“Jake’s definitely intimidating, but I think Willa’s finally tamed him.” Danny shot her a lecherous grin.

“I don’t know,” Willa said, joining into the banter. “I kind of like the wild, untamed Jake.” She hadn’t really meant to say it. It just slipped out.

“I bet you do.” There was no mistaking the naughty look on Danny’s face now.

Willa blushed bright red. She was still getting used to Danny’s bold attitude. She loved it though. She’d never had this kind of camaraderie with anyone before. The girls at the fancy private school she’d attended always looked at her as the quiet, too-tall freak. Once she’d married and gone to college, things had gotten better. She’d made some friends in her classes, but she’d always been too afraid to spend time with them outside of class. Danny and Gloria were the first real friends she’d ever had. But talking about such a taboo subject still kind of embarrassed her, but oh, it felt so good, so right.

“Look at her face.” Gloria laughed. “I think she likes it a lot!”

She couldn’t help it. She knew the smile on her face must be positively wicked. “Oh, you have no idea just how much I like it.”

The three shared a naughty laugh, trading nasty little tidbits while trying not to kiss and tell too much.

Jake watched as a heavily muscled man in a kilt threw a stone toward a rough wooden target. The Renaissance games weren’t really his thing. He’d much rather be relaxing watching a football game and enjoying a beer, but Willa had wanted to come, and he couldn’t deny her anything. Glancing at his friend, he figured Gabe was in the same boat. He wanted to curse his friend’s father’s cleverness. Gabe’s father, Smokey, who had been dating his daughter-in-law’s friend Gloria, had used work as an excuse to get out of coming. He wanted to shake his head at that relationship. Smokey was years older than Gloria, but they seemed happy. He didn’t begrudge the old man. Gabe’s mother’s death had hit them hard. The fact that Smokey had found some happiness with his “Glory” was a testament to the human spirit. He didn’t know what he’d do if something ever happened to Willa. Shit, how was it that they’d just met? Was it possible to fall for someone that quickly?

As if sensing his thoughts, his friend laughed. “You got it bad. I recognize that look.”

“Shut the fuck up!” Jake groused. He’d barely acknowledged his feelings to himself. He certainly wasn’t ready to share them with anyone else, no matter how close he was to the man.

Gabe just laughed. “Kind of sneaks up and bites you in the ass, doesn’t it?”

Jake scowled. “More like knocks you on your ass.” He took a long sip of the mug of ale in his hand. Wasn’t quite the beer he was used to, but it would do.

“Amen, brother.” There was a thoughtful look on Gabe’s face, and his sharp, blue eyes looked him over, considering, calculating. “You do seem better than you have in months. You needed something to do, and like I said, she needed help.”

“I don’t know. She’s been doing pretty well on her own. I have to say, it’s pretty damn impressive she’s built the business all by herself.”

“True.” Gabe nodded, taking a sip from his own mug. “But it’s too much for any one person to handle. Besides, I don’t think her business is where she needs help. It’s that family of hers.”

Jake rolled his eyes. “No shit. We had a run-in with them the other day. Something’s going on with them. I don’t like it.”

“What do you mean? What happened?” Gabe sat up straighter, and Jake sensed the predatory lawyer coming out in him.

“They showed up again. Her mother’s one freaking creepy cougar, but that I can handle. It’s her father-in-law that sets me on edge. What’s the old saying? ‘My spidey senses are tingling.’ I just don’t trust him. He’s up to something.”

“Maybe we should have Runt look into it now that he’s back in town.”

Jake laughed. “I wouldn’t call him Runt anymore. Bo’s about as tall as you and pretty damn lethal with his bare hands.” His cousin Bo was three years younger than they were. As a kid, he’d followed them around relentlessly, earning the nickname Runt because of his size. He had driven them nuts at the time, considering all he could talk about was computers and bits and bites and crap. Then when he’d turned eighteen, Bo had shocked everyone by joining the Navy and, then shocked them further when he’d been accepted into the elite SEAL program. No one knew for sure why Bo had opted to not reenlist after his last tour, but Jake always suspected he’d seen some serious shit. Sometimes he’d get this haunted look in his eyes. He’d gone into the Navy a scrawny nerd and come out with a black belt and a seriously dark look in his eyes.

“He’ll always be Runt, even if he can kick my ass sideways.” Gabe laughed. “But you’re right. I saw him at a martial arts demo a few weeks ago, and he put his fist through a cement block. That’s one badass black belt.”
