They were met by David’s mother, who hugged Benjamin with a tear in her eye. David knew she loved Benjamin, and at one point had been a little jealous of the help and time his mother devoted to Benjamin, but he’d realized how stupid he was being and that his mother’s love had simply expanded to include Benjamin.

“What do you want to do to celebrate?” David’s mother asked as she released Benjamin. Benjamin shrugged, but David smiled.

“We’ll be back in a while,” David said, taking Benjamin’s hand. Benjamin blushed as David led him back outside. They walked across the knee-high field of grasses to the entrance to the path. “I hope this is okay,” David said. They walked hand in hand along the path by the stream until they reached the pool.

“I should have known you’d bring me here.”

“Of course,” David said. “This is our place. I was standing here, and you were right over there, the first time I saw you.” David pulled his T-shirt over his head and then kicked off his shoes. Benjamin watched him and blushed again as David opened his pants and slid them off. Naked, he carefully walked into the cool water. “Are you going to join me?” David asked, turning to Benjamin, watching as he slipped off his clothes. David knew every inch of that body now, but still he loved watching and touching Benjamin’s pale smooth skin. Benjamin’s clothes joined his, and then David watched his lover slowly walk into the water. Benjamin slipped perfectly into David’s arms, and he held him close.

“This is so naughty,” Benjamin told him as David pressed their hips together.

“After the first time I saw you, I dreamed of being with you,” David confessed.

“You did?” Benjamin asked, and David nodded, cupping Benjamin’s head with one hand while he held him close with the other.

“Yes. I was fascinated by you the moment I saw you.” David kissed Benjamin hard as the water flowed around them. “I love you, Benny, and I always will.” Benjamin returned his kiss, and the rest of the world slipped away for a while. “You’re the other half of my soul.”

Benjamin swallowed. “I love you too. But in a year you’ll go away to school. What if….” Benjamin’s voice trailed off, the unsaid questions hung in the air.

“Whatever happens, we’ll work it out, I promise.” David kissed him again. “School is only going to be a few hundred miles away. We’ve bridged two worlds—together we can do anything.” Benjamin nodded, and David kissed him once again with all the love in his heart.
