“I think she likes you.”

“I think she does too,” he grinned. “She is such a beautiful little girl, just like her mother.”

“Thank you,” Maria blushed.

“You’re very welcome.” He looked her over, studying everything about her as he rocked Meg in his arms. He quickly noticed that her left hand was unadorned and smiled to himself. “So, Mrs...”

“Maria, Ms. Maria Avila, and this is Megan. I’m not married, but I guess you can see that,” she laughed.

“Lucky for me. Would you mind if I helped you get her settled in the car? I just can’t seem to put her back in this stroller.”

“Sure, and thank you for catching my baby. I don’t know what I would have done if something had happened to her.”

“It’s no problem. It was my pleasure.”

Emilio walked them over to the car and secured Meg inside, placing a butterfly kiss on her forehead. Maria smiled at his gentle nature as she watched him pull her blanket over her making sure she was nice and snug. Smiling at her, he proceeded to back away from the car, when she called out to him.

Turning around, Emilio caught a glimpse of her beautiful smile and walked back. Standing before her, he pushed the hair from her face and placed a light kiss on her cheek. Putting her hands on his chest, she tried still them, but she couldn’t stop the fluttering in her chest. It was truly love at first sight.

After regaining her senses, she mumbled the words that changed everything; the request for him to join them for dinner. Emilio readily agreed, and the rest was history. After their first evening together, Emilio became a major part of their lives, spending as much time with them as possible. After only two months of dating, he asked her to marry him, and she accepted. Soon after, he adopted Meg as his own and never looked back.

As the memories subsided, Emilio planted his lips over hers, crushing her head into his. She molded into his kiss and wrapped her arms around his neck. She lost herself in him for what seemed like the thousandth time since their reunion. Kissing him never seemed to get old.

Laying back on the bed, he pulled her against him and closed his eyes. Since he found out Maria was alive, he had been staying every night with her. He couldn’t tear himself away. The only time he left was when he was going by to check on the children, and even then, he didn’t stay gone long.

He had missed so much time with her over the years, and he never wanted to let go. He passed out minutes later with her resting on his chest, for now, he was content, but he knew things had to change soon. They needed to be a whole family again; Maria’s happiness depended on it.

Chapter Nine

“Mmmhhh,” Meg hissed in her sleep. She couldn’t believe the sinful way she was being awakened. She felt Alex’s hands creep over her thighs minutes earlier, but she thought it had to be her imagination, because she could have sworn they went to sleep with the children in between them. She reached between her legs to see if it was all a dream, but sure enough, his head was buried there and his mouth was pleasuring her to no end.

“Aaah,” she moaned when he pushed his tongue deeper. She clutched his head tighter and squeezed her eyes shut, it was taking everything for her not to scream out. She wanted to express herself fully, but she wasn’t sure where the other occupants of the house were. As if sensing her need, Alex lifted his head for a brief second to address her.

“Everyone is gone. Lexie and Matt went to the hospital and took the kids, and Marisol had some things to do. It’s just you and me, baby.”

Meg threw her head back and put one finger in her mouth as she used the other hand to slide her fingers through his hair. He was driving her way past the point of simple pleasure, he had her flying towards the perfect orgasm. His hot breath and skillful kisses were proving to be her undoing and she felt herself giving in to the explosion within. She felt her insides trembling as he continued to move his mouth against her.

When she locked her legs around him, he went in for the finish. He spread her legs wide and slid his hands up her stomach and over her breasts, kneading them in his palms as he went deeper into her depths. She screamed out so loudly that she startled him for a split second, and then shook violently as her orgasm wracked her body.

Coming down from her high, she waited for Alex to make his way up her body and enter her throbbing insides, but he didn’t. He stayed with his mouth clamped to her center and continued to flick his tongue across her sensitive flesh. Before she could grasp the situation, he invaded her once again, causing her head to fly off the pillow. She sat up slightly and he reached out to push her back down.

“No,” he hissed. “Lay there and take it.”

Meg bit her bottom lip and fisted the sheets as she fought off another orgasm. He took his hand and slid it to fill his fingers with her and she gasped. “What are you trying to do to me?” she yelled, clutching the sheets tighter. He was pushing her to that invisible edge once again.

“I’m making you forget everything except how you feel at this very moment. Let go, baby, let me make you forget.”

“Alex!” she screamed as she crashed once again.

“Yes, baby, yes.” He slid up her body and positioned himself between her legs. “Now, are you ready for the real fun?”

She looked at him, and her eyes widened in shock. “I can’t...”

He surged inside her, silencing her protests. “You can, and we will. Wrap your legs around me and hold on tight. I’m about to make you scream.” Meg did exactly as he said and gripped his shoulders, letting her nails graze him gently. He smiled against her lips and lowered himself all the way down to fill her completely, and placed his hands at her sides as he began his slow, deep, indulgent strokes.

Meg kept her eyes closed, humming a soft tune as he pushed against her deeply and slowly. He moved his hands up and clutched her hands pushing them above her head lacing his fingers through hers. She held his hand in a death grip as he lowered his head to her left breast and circled his tongue around her sensitive, swollen, areola, and she jerked upward, pushing him further into her. He chuckled at her response and moved to give her other breast equal attention.

Meg was so close to her breaking point when she felt herself shifting. Alex was pulling her to him and in an instant, her face was in a pillow. The pillow muffled her orgasmic screams, while he slammed into her with his stomach molded onto her back. She tried to regain some semblance of control by scooting backwards trying to get to her knees, but he smacked her from behind and thrust so hard, her legs buckled and she fell back to the bed. Without breaking his stride, he clutched her hands once more, holding on for dear life.

He was everywhere, on top of her, inside her, between her, as she closed her eyes and felt the room spin. She was so close to a complete meltdown, when she felt his mouth on the back of her neck. He had lifted her hair and was running his tongue up and down her neck driving her insane. She felt it, it was coming, and then suddenly, everything stopped.

Alex rolled her over on her back and leaned over her. He pushed the hair from her eyes and positioned himself back between her thighs and pulled them apart once more. Before any words could leave her lips, he was inside her, moving in a quickened pace. When he moved his hand to her neck, holding her to him, she moaned in delight.

“Baby, you feel so good. I couldn’t let this end without me being able to look you in the eyes, it’s the best part.” He placed his lips over hers and the fire that had been building within her, blazed high, burning them both, causing loud exclamations to fall from their lips.

“Alex!” she screamed, sitting up and falling back to the bed exhausted. He kissed her gently and moved his hands down her body sensually and rolled to the side, pulling her back to his chest. He held her quietly trying to regulate his breathing and kissed her neck. She shuddered at the feel of his lips on her again. It was amazing after all they had done that such a little act, could make her quiver inside. Alex moved his hands up and cupped her breast, cradling them in his palms as he whispered in her ear.

“Good morning, baby.”

She chuckled lightly. “Good morning, sweetheart. Thanks for that marvelous wake up call.”

“Oh that, it was nothing,” he pulled her up into a sitting position. “Just a simple hello, but if you want marvelous, join me in the shower. I’ll touch places even the water can’t.”

“Shower yes, but we have to go, I’m sorry.”

“No need to apologize, there is always tonight. It will give me time to think of my next plan of attack. I hope you’re ready.”

“Am I ever?” she smirked. “You’re a serious nymph.”

“Only for you, Angel Face, I would do anything to make you smile.”

“You did way more than that, and you’ll do way more than that later. I wish we had all day to play in bed, but we have to get to Gio.”

“I know,” Alex pulled her from the bed. “Get your shower started, and I’ll take one in the other bathroom.”

“You’re not taking one with me?” she asked in full pout.

“No, sweetie, I need a cooling off period before I have to go to the hospital unless you want to get railed on an exam table. I’m going to shower alone this morning,” he smiled and backed out of the room.

Meg smiled and walked into the bathroom, humming a nameless tune. She was relaxed for the morning and encased in the happy feeling he left her with. Alex had really done a number on her, all the fears in her heart were shattered, and she only had thoughts of what they could be thankful for and getting Gio back to one hundred percent. Meg took her shower blissfully lost in silly thoughts until she felt the cold gust of air behind her when she turned, she saw Alex standing fully dressed wearing a huge grin.

“Baby, baby, baby, get your fine self out of that shower and get dressed before I pull my clothes back off.”

“I’m coming,” Meg huffed. “I was just thinking.”

“About?” he asked as he passed her a towel.

“Our life, how blessed we actually are, despite everything put in our way.”

“We are blessed, that’s what I’ve been trying to tell you. I came in here because I called Matt, and things are going great at the hospital. Gio is up talking and playing with the kids and the tests went great. There shouldn’t be any reason why Lexie can’t give him a kidney as long as all the other screenings come back fine. The process could take a few months, but everything looks good for now.”

“A few months? Does he have that long to wait? He passed out here yesterday, who’s to say he won’t take a turn for the worst?”

“He passed out because he has been skipping his medicine and dialysis. He will be fine as long as he takes better care of his health.”

“That’s a relief,” Meg sighed, slipping her dress over her head. “I’m going to make sure he does. He scared me half to death.”

“I know he did,” Alex wrapped his arms around her. “But everything is going to be fine now. He stepped back and admired her short blue sun dress that hugged her body at the top, and flowed out at the bottom showing off her long, smooth legs. “Easy access,” he mumbled to himself.

“What was that?”

“Nothing, Angel, let’s get going.”

In the car ride over, Alex and Meg laughed and exchanged stories about their rough work week, just enjoying each other’s company. They didn’t fill the conversation with anything other than them and their small family, which was exactly what Alex wanted. She knew he felt that they had spent too much time over the past few weeks discussing other people, and she had to admit he was right. It should be more about them sometimes.

When they finally arrived at the hospital, they found Matt and Lexie chatting with each other playing with the kids. Matt looked so at home talking to Lexie, and it worried Meg immensely. As wrong as she felt Melia was, Matt was still her husband and the father of her children; they had unfinished business. Meg liked Lexie, from what she had learned about her, she was a really nice person, but Melia was her sister and she had to protect her interests.

When Alex saw the look on Meg’s face and the intimate setting before him with Lexie and Matt, he cringed. He knew she was going to say something, he just hoped she wouldn’t cause a major scene. He huffed when he saw her walking towards them and called out to her, but she kept walking in their direction.

When Meg approached, Matt swallowed hard and held Jordan up in the air. “The big guy misses his mommy.”

“And mommy misses him and my pretty princesses.” She pulled Jordan into her arms and bent down to kiss Allison and Cienna on their cheeks. Meg watched as Lexi squirmed under her stare and could tell she was uncomfortable. Watching her nervousness prompted Meg to ask Lexi to join her down the hall and she silently agreed and stood to join her. Alex approached and motioned for her to hand Jordan off, but she refused to hand him over. He took this as a good sign, knowing that she would never endanger their son, and relaxed slightly.

When they got around the corner, Lexie leaned against the wall looking straight into Meg’s stoic stare. “It’s no secret why I asked to talk to you. I know that Matt and my sister are separated right now, but they have things to iron out before he is back on the market.”

Lexie crossed her arms over her chest and stood up straight. “Just what are you implying?”

“I’m not implying anything. I just want to be clear about the fact that he is still her husband, and if I feel like you are overstepping, I’ll squash you.”

“Wow,” Lexie sighed. “He was just telling me how sweet and open minded you are. I guess he hasn’t seen the ratchet side of you.”

Meg smiled at Jordan and kissed his cheek before glaring over, piercing her with an icy stare. “You haven’t seen ratchet, honey. One thing I can assure you, is that I do what’s necessary to protect my family, including my little sister. What you don’t want is a fight with me, because I can assure you, you’ll lose.”

Lexie smiled and closed her eyes. “I love it.”

“You love what?” Meg growled.

“This. You’re exactly how Gio described you.”

“What?” Meg snapped.

“Sweetheart, I have no interest in Matt. It’s obvious he’s still madly in love with your sister. They have a lot to work out, and I was just telling him he needed to fight for his marriage when you walked in. I have nothing but love and respect for your family, and I would never betray your trust in me. You’re the only one who was nice to me no questions asked. I just wanted to see this crazy intense side Gio warned me about, but I apologize for getting you riled up.”

Meg studied her face for sincerity and after a few moments, began to chuckle. “You’re awful. I was about ready to rip you in half. I get really protective over them, even if they are making stupid mistakes.”

“Your sister will figure this mess out, but that man is still completely taken with her. I only wish my own husband was more like him.”

“You’re married?”

“Yeah, barely. I need to find him to get my divorce. He just up and left a few months ago never to be heard from again. Can you believe it, after ten years of marriage, he just abandons me? Well, I’m shedding my tears over that man, it’s time to move on. I’ve lost hope in my husband, but your sister still has a fighting chance. She rushed through here in such a hurry just before you arrived, and he couldn’t keep his eyes off her. I think it’s all this separation taking its toll on both of them. Matt has been talking about her nonstop since we met, and it would take a lot more than some measly conversation to draw his attention away.”

“Good to know,” Meg sighed. “I’m sorry to hear about your husband, and about jumping all over you. I don’t usually jump to conclusions so easily.”

“Water under the bridge,” Lexie smiled and patted her shoulder. “Now if you don’t mind, I would like to rejoin the guys before they think we got into a cat fight.”

“Yeah,” Meg sighed. “I need to go find my little sister.”

“You should. Here, let me take Jordan. I just love this little man already.”
