Several months later…

"The results are in," the doctor said, looking from Talen to Ethan and back. "Congratulations. You're both going to be parents."

Ethan could not believe it. Through the miracle of the Lycanthrope seed, he had been able to conceive as a male. It had taken him a while to actually believe it was possible. There was very little science behind it.

Talen had explained that werewolf seed could take up residence inside a human male or female. The sex did not matter. All it needed was a live healthy host to thrive.

Ethan felt tears burn his eyes and the room swam as he blinked. His vision was captured by the image of his handsome Mate. Talen’s face was filled with the most joyful smile Ethan had ever seen.

Talen’s normally powerful visage was wiped away, replaced with angelic joy that made him look absolutely beautiful.

"Congratulations, my love," Ethan whispered, his hand reaching out to take Talen’s. There were no wedding rings on either finger, but the emotional and mental bond they both shared was greater than any metal adornment.

Talen turned his eyes on Ethan, and swept him off his feet, swinging him around the room in joyous arcs until Ethan had enough.

"Whoa, down boy!” laughed Ethan. "If Karina thinks you're doing anything to risk a future member of the Family, she’s going to have your pelt stapled to her wall."

Talen set Ethan down, his face still stretched by his silly grin. "If you insist. So, who gets to tell her?"

"Jasmine," Ethan answered. "And I want her to be the baby's godmother. I don't care if she’s Lower House. Also, if it's possible, I want Jim to be his godfather, even if it's just honorary."

Talen stared Ethan in the eye for a minute, then nodded his assent. "There's a first time for everything. So be it. If he wants the job, Jasmine will become godmother to the future Hunt Leader of the Romanov, and Jim his godfather. Doctor, did you hear that?"

"Yes I did, Hunt Leader," the doctor replied, slipping his tools back into his case. The doctor, while not part of the Romanov family, was a respected menber of the lycanthrope community, and his testimony to Talen's word would carry the full weight of lycanthrope law. "I will inform the council."

"Thank you. Now, I suppose we should ask Jasmine if she wants the job," Talen said, escorting the doctor to the door of the conference room.

They were on the seventeenth floor of the Morgan Building, in the company wellness center, which had a small room that the doctor preferred to use when he conducted business with the lycanthropes of the Romanov family.

He shook both their hands as he stepped on the elevator, the doors closing behind him. Talen and Ethan waited for the next elevator, heading up to the legal department. Crossing through the "bullpen" of junior attorney's desks, all heads swiveled towards them as everyone watched the CEO and his executive assistant turned lover marched brazenly towards Karina's office.

Most of them quickly returned to their work, while one reached into his desk to pull out a cell phone. He composed a text message quickly, before slipping the prepaid phone back into his lap drawer.

Jasmine looked up as Ethan and Talen came through the door to Karina's outer office, where she was typing up some legal briefs.

One glance at the two faces however, and all thoughts of motions or rules of evidence fled her mind, and joy swept through her heart.

"Yes?" she asked, as Talen closed the door behind him.

Ethan's nod of reply left her squealing in joy, as she ran over to hug him tightly. "Oh Ethan, I'm so happy for you, this is tremendous!" she cried, tears of joy falling down his face.

Behind him, Karina stuck her head out of her office at the ear splitting noise. "What the hell was.... yes?"

Talen was the one to nod this time, as Ethan was still caught up in Jasmine's arms, unable to move. Talen caught his sister as she flew across the room to hug him, her own tears soon mixing with Jasmine's and causing all four to soon be sobbing in joy at the news.

Finally, after they had finally calmed down, Ethan pulled himself out of Jasmine's embrace, wiping at his nose. "Thank you both," he said, reaching out to take Jasmine's hand, "but I have something I do want to ask."

"What is it?" Jasmine asked, perplexed. She glanced at Karina, who only shrugged in response. She had come to expect being caught offguard by Ethan's requests.

"Well, first of all Karina, please don't be offended. I know you're the Shield. You'll not only protect our baby as it's aunt, but as the Shield itself. No baby will ever grow up safer or more loved."

"You've got that right," Karina nodded, still perplexed.

Ethan smiled, and continued. "So, I have a question for you, Jasmine. Would you be willing to be godmother to our baby?"

Jasmine could only nod and cry in response as Karina came around to embrace her. "It's what you deserve, Jasmine," she whispered, holding her. "And you're going to be just as much an aunt to this baby as I am. Probably more, even."

Jasmine hugged Karina back, her sobs overwhelming her again as the four strange members of the Romanov ruling family came together.

***

In a room in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, a single desk lamp was the only source of light.  At a desk sat a man with crystal blue eyes and a cultured voice.

"Oh my, Hunt Leader is going to be a father," he said, before chuckling. "I think this can be turned into an advantage."

The other person in the room looked at the speaker puzzled. Noticing the look on his quiet associate, the man laughed.

"It's simple. The Romanov are going to be so busy trying to protect and bring their little pup into the world, that they aren't going to realize that I am destroying the foundations of that same world until it is too late."

The blue eyes turned, as Devin's strong arms reached down to maneuver the handles on his wheelchair. "Come, friend," he said to his mute companion. "We must build an army. There's a war to bring to a conclusion. If Roosevelt could win his war from a wheelchair, I can tool."
