‘His time will come,’ his dad said coolly.

Jake felt like throwing the watch on the floor and crushing it to tiny pieces with his heel. Instead he took a few deep breaths and fastened it on to his wrist. It was heavier than he thought it would be.

His dad looked at him with a confused frown.

Jake made sure he didn’t blink. ‘Just so I don’t forget.’
