When she really needed to get something done Kaylee shut off her cell and the Internet and today was no exception. In three hours she’d managed to get four thousand new words on her work in progress.
“Just a little break. I was thirsty. I’ll call Ava in a while. She must be bored.” Kaylee kept her eyes averted as she popped open a can of soda and poured it into a glass. “Would you like one?”
“I’m good.” Reed looked at her, his brows pulled down into a frown. “Are you running a fever? Your face is all red.”
More heat flooded her cheeks. Fuck a mallard. She hadn’t expected him to notice her aroused state but then this was a man who noticed everything.
“I’m fine,” she denied. “It was just warm in the office. Maybe I’ll turn down the heat.”
He didn’t take his gaze away, simply crossing his muscular arms over his chest and regarding her with steady interest. Eventually a smile spread across his face and those to-die-for dimples made an appearance.
“You were working on a sex scene, weren’t you? I’ve never read anything as hot as what you write, honey. Damn, those scenes in that book were smokin’. I would imagine this happens to you all the time.”
If there had been any justice or fairness in the world a gigantic hole would have opened up in the floor below and swallowed her whole. She was mortified, and he didn’t even know that he’d been the star in her fantasies.
“It was just warm in there. I’m going to turn the heat down.” She whirled around so he wouldn’t see her flaming face but his large hand closed over her upper arm. He was gentle but firm and she pressed her fingers over her eyes, unwilling to see him laughing at her humiliation.
“Kaylee, honey?” Reed’s voice was soft and there was no mirth in his tone. “Look at me, sweetheart. I’m sorry if I’ve upset you. I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings.”
Slowly she took her hands away and looked up at all six feet plus of him. This simply wasn’t fair. She wanted him so badly and here he was calm, cool, and collected. Ava had warned Kaylee that Reed didn’t care if a woman was panting after him, but the reality of it royally pissed her off. Anger churned in her stomach and indignation loosened her tongue.
“This is all your fault.”
Reed’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. “My fault? How is this my fault? I haven’t touched the thermostat, and if I did I wouldn’t keep it so warm in the house to begin with.”
Kaylee jerked her arm away and began to pace up and down the kitchen, her gut tight. She was mad and fearful all at the same time. Mad that he didn’t feel the electricity and heat between them as she did. Fear that now that she’d opened her big mouth she’d ruined the easy friendship they’d built the last few days.
Too late now.
“I was fine before you came here. Okay, maybe sometimes I was a little lonely but I like being by myself most of the time. And as for sex, I’d gotten used to the fact that it wasn’t worth worrying about. Everything was good.” She halted and spun around so she was facing him. “Then you came along with your muscles and your dimples, and the lock of hair that falls over your forehead. And you had to be so damn nice and funny. Intelligent and dammit, you read my book and got what I was trying to do. I was doomed.”
Kaylee took a few deep breaths and swallowed the lump that had taken up residence in her throat. “That’s why this is all your fault. When I write those scenes now I see you and me.”
There it was. The miserable truth laid bare for him to ridicule. She had no more secrets from him, nothing to hide behind. Stripped of any dignity, she stared at her sock covered feet and waited for his inevitable derision.
“Then I think we should go upstairs.”
His deep voice had reached her ears but her brain was having a hard time unscrambling his words.
“What did you say?” She finally looked up and sucked in a breath at what she saw. There was passion in his expression, the irises of his eyes almost golden.
“I said…” Reed took a few steps closer so she had to tip her head back to look at his face. Heat emanated from his body and she placed her hands on his chest to feel the burn against her palms. “That we should go upstairs. I can think of a few things we can do that you probably haven’t written about yet.”
Anger and shame turned to joy and instead of her stomach twisting in her abdomen it felt like a thousand butterflies being set free. Her tongue snaked out to wet her dry lips and his gaze instantly zeroed in on her action.
“What about Logan and your friendship?”
A corner of his mouth tipped up. “I’ll handle things with him. Besides, I think Ava is on our side.”
Kaylee remembered he had overheard her phone conversation when Ava had told her to go for it with Reed. Just not to expect any future from him.
Still needing reassurance that this wasn’t a dream, her fingers dug into the soft cotton of his t-shirt where she could feel the firm muscles underneath.
“Are you sure?” The words came out barely audible and he bent his head closer to pick them up. His fingers captured her chin and his thumb caressed her lips, sending tingles directly to her toes and making her weak at the knees.
“Honey, if I were any more sure my hard cock would punch a hole clean through this zipper. I’ve wanted you since the day I met you.”
It sounded like the sweetest poetry Kaylee had ever heard. This time her legs really did give out but it didn’t matter as Reed swept her up into his arms and headed straight for the stairs.
Today she would be with him and not think about tomorrow.
* * * *
Reed simply could not deny himself this gorgeous woman any longer. He’d deal with Logan, or Ava would at any rate. Kaylee knew there was no future with a man like him and she said she was fine with it. He could only hope that was true because stopping now was unthinkable.
He laid her on the bed and came down on top of her, his lips going directly to that sensitive spot on her neck where it met her shoulder. Her skin smelled fresh and dewy like after a spring shower in Montana. She moaned as his teeth nipped at the creamy flesh and wriggled underneath him. His teeth snapped together and he held back a groan of pain as her hips brushed against his already aching cock. He needed to take a breather and slow down. Already hotter than a firecracker and ready to blow, he wanted this first time to be more than a quick fuck. Even though this wasn’t about forever, she meant more than that.
Biting gently into the lobe of her ear, he immediately soothed the hurt with his tongue even as her frantic fingers were sliding under his t-shirt in an effort to strip it from his body. His hands covered hers to still them and he pulled away slightly to look into her eyes.
“Easy, honey. Let’s slow this down a little. We’ve got nowhere we need to be so let’s take our time.”
To his amusement, her mouth fell open and she pushed at his chest with her palms. “Slow down? Do you have any idea what I’ve been doing today? I’ve been writing sex for the last three hours. Three hours, Reed. Three hours of imagining the two of us doing some of the most debauched things I’ve ever written about. I need you now. You can take your damn time later.”
She was muttering under her breath even as she continued to wrestle with his shirt. He had to stifle his laughter and delight at her urgent words. He loved that she wanted him and made no bones about it. Giving her whatever she needed was number one on his list. Her demand was a godsend as his balls were already pulled up in readiness. Going slow would have been pure torture for them both.
“You want a quickie, honey? I can do that. But we’ll go slow next time.”
Kaylee finally managed to pull his shirt over his head. “Whatever.”
His jeans were next and his jaw tightened in pleasure-like agony as her small hands popped open the button and pulled the zipper tab. His own hands joined hers, shoving the heavy material down and off his legs along with his white cotton socks and flannel boxers. His cock slapped against the skin of his stomach and this time he did groan out loud as she encircled him, her thumb tracing the slit where a drop of pre-cum glistened.
Her gaze never leaving him, she raised her thumb to her mouth and sucked the moisture from the skin.
Seductress.
She’d pay at some point for teasing him. His pulse drummed and the pressure in his lower back built as he plucked at the tiny pearl buttons on the front of her sweater before tossing it on the floor. Her generously round breasts were contained in a simple satin and lace bra but he could clearly see the dark outline of her nipples. He reached behind her and squeezed the hooks together and then yanked the offending garment out of the way.
Fucking gorgeous.
Pale pink tips on ivory skin that shimmered in the sunlight streaming through the window. Already hard and pointed, he bent his head to one, pulling it into his mouth and worrying the edges with his teeth. Her fingers dug into his scalp and she ground her groin against his insistently. He released one with a pop only to take the other between his lips and roll it with his tongue.
“Yes,” she hissed under her breath.
Trailing kisses down her belly, he slipped the button of her jeans through the hole and drew the zipper down before skating them down her legs and off. Wearing only a pair of tiny white panties, her skin was flushed and her hair tumbled around her face. Reed was looking forward to tangling his fingers in its silkiness while he fucked her hard and fast.
“Tell me what you want, Kaylee.”
“You,” she sighed. “I want you.”
“You’ve got me, honey,” he assured her. “But tell me want you really want. What you need. I’ll give it to you, I promise. I’m a man that likes to hear a woman speak explicitly about her desires.”
The fact was dirty talk turned him on. Considering Kaylee liked words, he had a feeling she might be the same. He liked sexy, raunchy things. Dirty talk, lingerie, toys, spankings, and bondage just to name a few.
After reading some of the scenes Kaylee had dreamed up out of her imagination, he may have found his perfect match.
Her lips trembled as if she couldn’t find the words or maybe was too shy to articulate them. He waited patiently knowing that there was something inside of her that needed to be set free other than in between the pages of a book.
“I want you to fuck me.”
Reed wanted to do that more than he wanted to breathe, but he needed to know more.
“Tell me how you want me to fuck you. Hard? Soft? Fast? Slow? Do you want me to suck on your pretty nipples while I do it? Kiss you? Smack your ass? Tell me everything you want, baby, and I’ll make sure you get it.”
He held his breath, praying and hoping that this woman could find the strength and trust to set herself free.
T
he words hung on the tip of Kaylee’s tongue.
She desperately wanted to express all the things she’d longed for but fear of being judged for her desires kept her silent. But Reed wasn’t like any of her other lovers. Patient and cool, he simply hovered on top of her and waited, obviously not making another move until she spoke.
Shaking inside and her heart racing, she opened her mouth determined to vanquish the demons that had held her prisoner for so long. No man had ever been able to satisfy her because she’d never told anyone what she needed.
His expression was soft and encouraging, the warmth of his gaze giving her daring. This would either be the smartest thing she’d ever done or the stupidest. Closing her eyes, she mentally jumped off the cliff.
“I want you to fuck me hard and fast with your big cock. Make me come. But first I want you in my mouth. I want to run my tongue all over and suck on the head until you can’t take it anymore.”
Not a flicker of distaste crossed his features. He simply nodded as if she’d asked him to change the television channel.
“I like the sound of all of that, baby. Anything else you want?”
Ignoring the lump of relief in her throat, she shook her head. “That will be a good start.”
If he was truly willing and open to it, there were so many fantasies she’d written about that she’d love to see come to life. This was only the first.
“You want my cock, honey? Come get it.”
