“Are you sure you’re ready?”

“More than ever. Come on.” Ramona reached around and grabbed his back to tug him closer, her fingernails digging into his flesh. Tomas chuckled quietly before positioning himself at her entrance. He waited until Ramona nodded at him before he thrust his hips and buried himself as deep inside her as he could. Ramona cried out and shifted her hands to his shoulders, her nails digging in once again.

He bent down and covered her with his body so every part of him was touching her in some way. He began to slowly move his hips and watched Ramona’s face for any signs of discomfort. He gasped in shock when she dragged her nails down his back, a cheeky grin on her face.

Tomas chuckled once again and grabbed her hips before he sped up his movements. Pleasure flooded his body but he was determined he was going to get Ramona to feel the best she could ever feel. He reached between their joined bodies and rubbed his thumb over her. She arched and cried out, her nails once again digging into his back. He knew he was going to be covered with scratch marks but it didn’t faze him.

“Don’t hold back.”

Tomas wasn’t sure how Ramona knew that he was holding back, but he just shook his head at her. He didn’t want to be as rough with her as he usually was with his lovers. He wanted to treasure her and make her feel amazing.

“I can take it, Tomas.”

He bent his head down and buried his nose in the crook of her neck before taking a deep breath. He was sure Ramona would tell him if he was being too rough with her or she was hurting. He dug his fingers into her hips and thrust as fast and hard as he could. Luckily there was a cushion wedged between Ramona’s head and the sofa because if not she would have some serious bruising.

He wasn’t sure how long he kept up the brutal rhythm, but Ramona wasn’t complaining, she was giving back just as good. Her moans spilled from her mouth and to his ears, causing him to become more vicious with her. He removed one of his hands from her hips and buried it between their bodies again, determined to get her to her release.

“Tom...”

“I know, baby.” Tomas’s voice had grown hoarse with desire and his bear was trying to break through. He sped up his thrusts and his fingers at the same time he bent down and buried his teeth in Ramona’s neck.

She cried out as her body clenched around him and pleasure washed over her. Her movements stopped as she experienced her orgasm and cries erupted from her. Tomas buried himself deep inside her and allowed himself the satisfaction of release, waiting a few moments after the pleasure had faded before slowly sliding from her body. They rested on the couch in silence for a few moments, until Ramona spoke a sentence he wanted to hear but at the same time didn’t want to hear.

“I’m your mate, aren’t I?”

“I’m sorry.”

“Why are you sorry?”

“I claimed you without your permission, which means that our life forces are now linked together.”

“What does that mean?” Tomas felt Ramona stiffen up and he gently rubbed her shoulder with a deep sigh.

“It means we will both die together. We will never outlive each other.” There were some more to the life force bonding but he didn’t want to tell her the rest of it until he was certain that she wanted to be with him.

“Oh.”

“Aren’t you mad at me?”

“Not really. I knew there was something about you the moment you walked into the cafe. I just want you to help me with the curse.”

“What do you want me to do?”

“I want you to help me find a way to break it. So I don’t have to live with that burden for the rest of my life.”

“Of course.” Tomas looked at the ceiling as he muttered the words. Part of the life force bonding was that their powers would connect with each other and they would both become stronger shifters. If they found a way to break her curse then he would lose his shifting abilities. The question being, was he willing to lose his powers to stay with the bound and to be with the love of his life?

CHAPTER ONE

“I’ll never understand why mother and father didn’t kill you when you were a baby.”

Tomas covered his head and whimpered in pain as his brother kicked him in the stomach, the steel toe capped boots making the blows more painful. He knew there was no point in crying out because it would just make the beatings worse. He had learned over the years to keep his mouth shut and take the punishment.

“You’re no use to this family, runt.” The word was spat out and a kick landed in his nose causing it to splinter under the pressure, blood pouring from it and down onto his white shirt. He laid still in hopes that if his brothers thought he was unconscious then they would leave him alone, that’s how it usually ended.

He heard the sound of their boots crunching on the gravel before he dared to open one of his swollen eyes. When there was no sign of the two men he managed somehow to struggled painfully to his feet, his legs almost collapsing from the pain that was radiating through his bones. He stumbled down the path and kept his head bowed down so the cars on the road didn’t notice his injuries.

“Tom! Tomas!” Tomas pulled his hood up on his jacket and slowly turned to the sound of the voice. Celeste was sitting in her small, red convertible and pressing her hand down on the horn to grab his attention. He slowly limped over to the small car and slid inside, keeping his hood up and his face faced away from her.

“What were you doing out here on your own? You know it’s not safe for you.”

Tomas sighed and leaned his head back on the headrest. Of course he wasn’t allowed outside of the property lines. Since he was the runt of the litter and hadn’t even had his first shift yet he wasn’t supposed to step foot out of the grounds. His father had banned him on his thirteenth birthday from leaving the premises without company from either himself or one of his brothers. He was dragged outside more often than not by his brothers so they could beat the living daylights out of him. Sometimes leaving him there long enough for their father to find him and punish him for being out of his permitted area.

“Tomas, look at me.”  Celeste pulled the car over to the side of the road and turned to face him. He kept his chin to his chest and avoided facing her. He knew that she would go crazy if she found out what had happened again. She obviously wasn’t in any mood to mess around because she grabbed him by the chin and tugged him around to face her.

“Don’t.” Tomas hissed when she reached out to touch his cheek and the cut that was bound to be there.

“I’m going to kill them.”

“Just leave it. I need to get back, dinner is expected at six.” Tomas turned back to look out the window and sighed. He couldn’t wait until he shifted for the first time and was finally able to stick up for himself. Just because he was the runt of the litter didn’t mean that he had to take what his brothers dished out.
