“Your wish is my command.” He started texting on his cell phone.

Three massive men dressed in Unseelie army gear burst into the room. Thankfully, Drake wasn’t one of those men. She’d die of utter humiliation if he walked in on her draped in a sheet and Cole only in his jeans. Putting two and two together wouldn’t be hard, especially after the bar scene. And she planned to make good on her promise if Cole walked away this time. Mya raised her palm up toward Gavin and released him from the paralyzing spell she learned to weave.

The men seized Gavin, took his gun away and handcuffed him in an instant, then led him out of the bedroom.

When the room cleared, she slammed the door with her magick and turned to Cole. “I guess it’s safe to assume they were waiting in the hallway?”

No emotion crossed over his face when he shrugged a shoulder. “I couldn’t take any risks, not with you here.”

“We need to talk.”

“Okay.” He slipped his shirt overhead, putting it back on.

And she didn’t know why, but the gesture stung a little, like he distanced himself. One thing was for sure, if he called her sweetheart, they were over because she knew exactly how and why he used that particular word. If he said sweetheart, she would kick his unholy, Unseelie ass.

To put some of her own separation between them, she walked across the room firmly gripping the sheet to her chest and took a seat on the antique loveseat. No telling how this Panting between thrusts might go and she couldn’t be near him if it he turned his back on her again. Her heart wouldn’t be able to handle it. “Do you want to go first or shall I?”

“You go first.”

Steeling herself, she took a deep breath. “Were you leaving me, for good, when you got out of the bed?”

“Yes.”

Her heart flopped in her chest and not in a good way, more like when a fish was out of water, flipping on the ground, gasping for air. Dying. “Do you still want to leave?” She didn’t want to ask, but she needed to hear the truth.

“Mya.”

“I want answers, Cole, and damn it…you’re going to open up and talk to me whether you like it or not.” She held her hand up for emphasis. “Unless you want me to immobilize you again.”

He exhaled in defeat and moved to sit on the edge of the bed. Resting his elbows on his knees, he stared at the floor. “I do not want to leave, but I have to.”

Tired of beating a dead horse, she held her ground. “Start talking.”

After a moment of silence, he said, “Personality tests were given among the Elders, so we could have the best match for each phase of your training. The results said you and I were closest, mentally. I would be the one most likely to gain your trust and get you in touch with your other half. However, the other Elders are well aware of my darker proclivities. The Unseelie Elders would never sanction a union between the two of us—any type of relationship beyond mentor and mentee is out of the question. I am strictly verboten from you.”

“By a law or a royal decree? I mean you’re an Elder.”

His blue eyes met hers. “Another Elder propositioned for the motion, when it went in for a vote to be turned into law, the end result was unanimous—twelve to zero.”

Wait a minute. There are twelve Elders in the court, including Cole. “You voted against yourself?” Her stomach churned at the idea of him sentencing himself to avoid her from the beginning.

“I told you Mya, I’m fucked up. There’s a darkness inside of me you’ll never understand. I don’t even understand it. All I do know is that I
will
hurt you.”

That very darkness pulled her to him. From the beginning, they played a game with each other based on a mix of pain and pleasure—one she’d never experienced before. But, she couldn’t get enough of him or his dark desires, so desperate for what he could give her, so deeply tethered to him by an invisible cord by the heights of ecstasy only he could deliver. He was constantly in her mind, consuming her—and she couldn’t let him leave again.

The weight of her breasts became heavy, swelling with her growing hunger he always made her feel. She stood up and walked over to him. “How would you hurt me? By pushing me away like you have for the last two weeks?”

“Partly, yeah.”

The sheet rubbed against her hardened nipples making them even more sensitive. When she stood before him, she lifted his chin up to look at her. “How else are you afraid you’ll hurt me?”

A tortured weariness crossed his face. “I like pain, Mya. I crave it. Just as much as I want to dominate, to own you—to control you. And not only in the bedroom, but all damn day. When I had you at my mercy in the cabin, I dictated what you wore, how you spent your days and nights, what you ate. You were like my slave and I fucking relished it.”

His words shouldn’t have turned her on like they did, but hearing how he wanted to claim all of her was romantic in the most twisted of ways. Wetness pooled in between her legs as a fire ignited in her belly. She nudged his hands apart with her knee, to slide inside his open thighs, and placed a hand on his shoulder. “What else? Are you afraid you’ll hurt me physically?”

“Yes. I want to see my marks all over your body, your flesh red and angry with welts. You don’t understand the storm raging inside of me every time I hold back from doing more.”

“You spanked me though, many times. You’ve even bit me. I never once complained or told you stop in earnest.” She released the sheet and let it fall to her feet. Magickally locking the door, she ensured nobody else would be able to open it.

“Be careful Mya. You’re poking a beast.” Cole narrowed his eyes.

Anticipation buzzed inside her and she slid her lower lip through her teeth, before poking him in the chest. “Like this?”

He growled—like the animal—he was. “I’m dead serious right now.”

“Me too.” She smiled with the naughtiest intentions. “Do you remember the night I was sleeping in the cabin, the night you came into the bedroom and fucked me?”

He pressed his lips together tightly before answering, “Yes.”

“I dreamt that you strung me up in the living room, naked. You had a riding crop in your hand. Do you know what you did with the crop?”

His chest heaved up and down, taking deeper, shorter breaths. “Did I smack your ass with it?”

“At first. Then you rounded my body, tapping me here,” she pointed to her breast, “tapping me there…” She pointed to the other. “…Then you spanked me with the crop here.” She rubbed her fingers through her swollen labia.

“What else?” His dry and raspy voice was laced with a dangerous desire to hear more.

“You teased my clit with the crop, punishing me because I begged for more.” She continued massaging herself in front of him, riding the fiery passion flowing through her. “And I loved being at your mercy, not knowing what you would give me next. Wondering what pain you would deliver to me and turn into pleasure.” She brought her other hand to her breast and kneaded the heavy roundness with her fingers, squeezing her nipple in between her fingers. “You’re so caught up in the darkness inside of you, how wrong you feel, what you might do, that you failed to see the demand for surrender I crave, the dark hunger I have…for you—Sir.”

He leaned back on his elbows, his eyes roaming down her body, watching her intensely. “You forgot one major fact. By law, you are banned to me.”

“And I bet you’re the type to steer clear of any illegal activity. Always following the law to the T. You probably don’t even speed, huh?” She flicked her clit and a moan slipped out.

His luscious lips turned up in the corner. “Show me your fingers, let me see how wet you are for me.”

She dipped the tips a little further back, ensuring they were moist enough for his liking, and then held them up for him to see. Damn, he looked so hot and confident laying there

“You may return to your ministrations.”

Mya slide her fingers back down below. His eyes locked on to her sex and she made sure to give him a good show, separating her labia while stroking her clit. An intense heat flushed through her body and her chest reddened.

“If the Elders find out about this,” Cole said, “They’ll strip me of my title and lock me up in prison, leaving me in solitary confinement for the rest of my life.”

“Then we’ll run away, leave tonight.”

“No.” His dark gaze met hers. “I won’t let you give up everything for me.”

“You forget. Technically, I have nothing right now. I won’t be losing anything.”

He sat up on the bed and placed his hands on her hips with a delicate possession. “If we leave, they’ll hunt you down too.”

“Between the two of us we’ll figure out a way to make us both disappear.”

“You’ll lose the queenship.”

She shook her head. “I don’t care. If I do make it to becoming the queen, my first order of business will be striking that damn law out of the books.”

“I’ve awoken a monster.” His hand slipped down to her sex and he slid his fingers through hers, twining them together.

“Your monster.” She grinned.

“Is that so?” His voice lowered an octave, as he pressed two fingers deep inside her and she arched into him.

“Yes,” she answered breathlessly throwing her head back.

“And you will do anything I command of you?” His fingers pumped into her. “You will submit to me fully?” His other hand snaked around to her butt and he fondled the backside of her too, reminding her if she said yes—all of her would be at his mercy.

In the end, she wanted everything he had to offer her. She wanted all of him. “Yes Sir.”

“You’re obedience pleases me greatly, but I wonder how willing and responsive you will be when I push your limits, when I push you further than you’ve ever been.”

“We won’t know unless we try. At least give me that much.”

Banging on the bedroom door jerked Mya back to reality with force.

She and Cole tensed at the same time, locking eyes.

“Mya, you will open up this door right now!” Liam yelled, pounding his fist on the wood. “We know Cole is in there with you and if you don’t come out right this very instant, we’ll detain him and lock him up without a trial.”

Cole whispered, “You have ten seconds to use your magick to get dressed, fix the room and unlock the door.”

Using her magick, she quickly clothed herself and made the bed, sure to hide her ripped up clothing under the pillows. With a flick of her hand, she unlocked the bedroom door, then swung it open as she kicked the sheet on the floor under the bed.

Heat seared her chest when she realized how close she still stood next to Cole, as large men, Unseelie Commanders—Drake stormed into the room, full of a stern fury.

And in the beat of a heart—her faerie tale came to a crashing halt.

Once upon a time, a little faerie princess met a dark knight who came and rescued her from her tall, lonely tower. But the angry dragons guarding her fortress didn’t like the way the princess looked at the knight with such longing. To them, a faerie princess of the light had no business mingling with one of such darkness.

The dragons stormed the castle and seized the knight.
