important to him than letting his inner needs run free. He could do

easy, just as long as Devin was pleased.

“Take your pants off,” Mercy said as he leaned back. His tongue

flickered across his bottom lip as he watched Devin reveal two sweet

mounds. He was dying to bite the man on each cheek. The feeling was

so overwhelming that Mercy’s mouth began to water.

He helped Devin pull his pants the rest of the way off and then

yanked the shirt over his lover’s head. This was so much better. He

palmed Devin’s ass, separating the cheeks as he leaned forward,

licking one long path from the top of Devin’s ass down to his balls.

Devin’s Mercy

Mercy purposely steered clear of Devin’s small, pink hole. The scent

of Devin’s body infused Mercy’s senses and he wanted the man

insane with need and to feel just as sexually hungry as Mercy did.

Mercy lightly raked his fingernails over Devin’s inner thighs, just

a feather’s touch, but enough to make Devin shiver as Mercy let the

tip of his tongue follow the path behind his nails. His tongue barely

touched Devin’s sac, playing with the ridges surrounding the man’s

balls. He relished the salty taste of Devin’s skin, using his teeth to

scrape them, to tease them, to make the man come unglued. Mercy

was breathing hard, his cock painfully swollen as he palmed it, giving

himself a slow and torturous hand job. He released himself, coming

too close to the edge.

“God, Mercy.”

Mercy’s hands glided up Devin’s body, kneading his backside,

separating the cheeks every other stroke, staring lustfully at the prize

in front of him. As badly as he wanted to just take, Mercy knew

Devin had to be eased into this.

When Devin pushed his backside toward Mercy’s mouth, he

finally licked at the hole begging to be fucked. His tongue swiveled

and swirled around the small entrance, lapping at the man’s skin as

desire ripped through him. Mercy closed his eyes, breathing out

slowly, reining in his needs.

Slow, goddamn it, slow.

“Mercy, please.”

Ah, hell.
Devin was begging again in that breathless tone. Mercy

felt his cock throb in response, but ignored the pulsing between his

legs. He had to. If he didn’t, Devin was going to get more than he

bargained for, and Mercy wasn’t about to scare the man.

“Relax, tiger.” He gazed over Devin’s body, devouring the small

man with his eyes before hanging his head, trying to rein in his

emotions. After a second or two, Mercy mouthed Devin’s balls, his

lust kicking back into high gear. They were so warm, so sweet in his

mouth as his tongue laved over the tender flesh. Again the urge to bite

overtook him, but Mercy managed to lick instead. The taste of Devin

was pure ambrosia. He wasn’t sure if he would ever get enough.

As he looked up, the only thing Mercy saw was Devin’s tight

entrance. The pink puckered hole entranced him. He found himself

reaching, his fingers playing at the entrance, aching to push inside.

He slammed his eyes closed. This was the first time he had ever

been at the point of losing control with anyone so quickly, and this

was the most important person he had ever been with.

Trying his best to focus, Mercy released Devin’s sac and attached

his lips to the man’s awaiting hole, making slurping sounds with his

mouth as he glided his tongue around the temptation.

“Yes, Mercy, yes.”

No, Mercy, no.

Mercy pulled back, taking in a straining breath. “Turn over.”

What he thought was a better option turned out to be an even

bigger temptation when he saw how swollen Devin’s cock was. His

mind began to imagine all kinds of wicked things he could do. Cock

rings and cages came to mind, but Mercy shoved the thought aside as

he moved swiftly to engulf Devin’s pretty cock.

And fuck, it was pretty.

Devin’s legs fell apart, inviting Mercy to take what he wanted. If

Devin only knew what Mercy really wanted. Not only did he restrain

himself because of what Devin had been through, but the man was

inexperienced. Mercy’s needs just might scare the fuck out of Devin.

He swallowed Devin down to the root, his tongue exploring the

sensitive flesh as his fingers found Devin’s hole once more, playing,

torturing himself with thoughts of what he could use on his lover

besides his cock.

“Mercy, you’re biting me.”

Mercy pulled back, not realizing what he was doing, too busy

fantasizing about what he wanted to do. “I’m sorry, tiger.” He kissed

a path along Devin’s shaft, easing the bite and wishing he could bite

again.

Devin’s Mercy

133

Fuck, he was so damn screwed up. For the first time since

deciding he wanted Devin permanently in his life, Mercy wasn’t sure

he should mate Devin. His needs were strong and powerful. They

were something Devin wouldn’t be able to handle and something

Mercy knew he couldn’t deny for too long. He had thought he could

forgo his desires, but as he tasted Devin, he knew he was only fooling

himself.

* * * *

Devin lay there in stunned disbelief when Mercy rolled from the

bed, grabbed the discarded towel from the floor, wrapped it around

his waist, and walked out of the bedroom.

What the fuck?

He wasn’t sure if he should follow or not. What in the hell had

just happened? He groaned, punching the mattress with his fist as he

stared up at the ceiling. Devin wasn’t sure why Mercy just walked out

of the bedroom. He thought they were doing just fine.

Was it him? Had he done something to piss the man off? Devin

knew he wasn’t experienced enough to handle someone like Mercy,

but he was pretty sure he wasn’t that bad. He was even hoping Mercy

would show him a thing to two about sex. His experience was limited

to one horrific event and a very nice hand job. Maybe Mercy realized

how little Devin knew and didn’t want to waste his time teaching him.

Too many scenarios began to play in Devin’s mind, confusing him

further. He rolled to his side, pulling the blanket over his shoulders as

he stared at the wall, wondering if Mercy was coming back or not. He

just couldn’t understand why Mercy had walked out.

He closed his eyes and pretended to be asleep when he heard the

door open. Devin knew it was Mercy. The man was anal about

anyone being in his bedroom with the exception of Devin. The bed

dipped, and then he felt Mercy settle in. Nothing was said, spiking

Devin’s fears even higher.

Should he say something or just go to sleep? Should he tell Mercy

that he was clueless about showing his lover a good time? Devin

wasn’t sure what he should do, so he lay there quietly. He didn’t have

the nerve to ask and he knew it. He was too frightened of Mercy’s

answer, or worse, being ignored.

Chewing his bottom lip, Devin prayed he hadn’t lost the man.

Mercy wanted to claim him. Devin wanted that as well. Mercy had

come to mean so much to him, even more so than in his earlier years.

The man was Devin’s rock, his anchor, his source of comfort when

his mind threatened to shatter.

And now the man ignored him.

“I can’t give you what you want, Devin.”

Those words cut into Devin like a sharp blade, bleeding him dry

as he lay there fighting back the tears. Mercy was rejecting him. What

had he done wrong? He wanted to ask, but didn’t want to hear the

answer. Mercy’s words hurt worse than anything Martin had done to

him because he cared about Mercy.

“Okay,” he said quietly, wishing he had kept his mouth shut.

Talking was something he didn’t want right now. He wanted to forget

that Mercy owned his heart, that Mercy had become the most

important person in his screwed-up life.

“It’s not what you think.”

Devin wasn’t sure what to think. A million reasons ran through

his mind of why Mercy didn’t want him, but Devin couldn’t find one

that fit. He wanted to turn over and demand an answer, but lay there

instead, bracing himself for the final words that would destroy him.

“I need things you can’t give me. It isn’t your fault, so don’t

blame yourself.”

What things? Devin couldn’t take it any longer. Shoring up his

spine, Devin turned over to face the one man he would give his life

for. “What do you need?”

The shadows in the room played over Mercy’s handsome face,

giving him a mysterious, almost mythical appearance as he lay there

staring at the ceiling, his hands resting on his chest. “Dark things,

tiger.”

Devin wasn’t sure he wanted Mercy calling him tiger at this

moment. The man was pushing him away, yet using the endearment

that was coming to mean so much to him. “Like?”

Mercy turned his head, his grey eyes dark in the bedroom only lit

by the illuminating moon. “I like a different brand of sex, Devin.

After what happened to you, I can’t ask you to give me what I need.

I’m sorry I led you on.”

Devin’s interest was piqued. “If you explain to me what you need,

then maybe—”

“It can’t happen, Devin. I’m sorry. Get some sleep.”

Devin felt the hand of dismissal as he lay there staring at Mercy.

He wasn’t sure what Mercy was talking about, but he wasn’t giving

up. He had wanted the man for too many years to let the guy push him

away so easily. “No, tell me.” His voice was a little more demanding

than he meant to be, but he was glad when Mercy’s eyebrows rose a

fraction. “Damn it, just tell me.”

When Mercy got out of the bed, Devin thought the man was going

to walk out of the bedroom once more. He knew for a fact that Mercy

wasn’t used to being talked to in that manner. The guy was an ex-

enforcer, used to giving orders, not taking them.

But Mercy walked to the dresser instead, rummaging through the

drawers, and then he walked back toward Devin, holding something

small in his hand. “I asked you to trust me, and I would never do

anything to betray that trust.”

Devin tried to get a better look at what Mercy was holding, but the

room was too poorly lit for him to see. “I still trust you.” And that was

the truth. Devin knew in his heart that Mercy would never hurt him.

He could see it in the grey depths of Mercy’s eyes.

“Enough to allow me to…” Mercy glanced at the window and

then slowly turned back toward Devin. “Enough to let me satisfy my

hungers?”

136

Yeah, Devin wasn’t too sure about that. “It all depends on what

you want to do to me. I won’t let you beat me, Mercy, no matter how

much I love you.”

God, was the man into pain? Devin sure as shit hoped not. As

much as he wanted Mercy, wanted to please him and be with him,

pain was not something he could give the man.

“I would never lay a hand on you, tiger. I promise you that.”

Devin was relieved. “Then what?”

Mercy lifted his arm, showing Devin what he had in his hand.

Although Devin could see the thing better, he still wasn’t sure what he

was looking at. The confusion must have shown on his face.

“It’s a cock cage.”

Devin was so damn confused. The word
cage
didn’t sit well with

him, but the thing in Mercy’s hand was so small that he didn’t feel

threatened by it.

Mercy circled around the bed, placing the device in Devin’s hand.

Devin lifted it to his face, feeling the leather and wondering what in

the hell Mercy planned on doing with it. He had to admit, the leather

was soft, his fingers sliding over it like the material was butter.

“It’s used to trap your cock.”

Devin glanced up, his brows furrowing. “Why would you want to

do that?”

Mercy sat on the edge of the bed, smiling at Devin. He probably

thought Devin was a twit. He felt like one at the moment.

“It stops you from coming.”

“That doesn’t sound like something I would want to do.”

Mercy chuckled. “Trust me, it can be both pleasurable and

downright torturous, but not in a bad way.”

Devin turned the cock cage over in his hand, trying his best to

work the mechanics out in his mind. “So, if you put this on me, I can’t

come?”

“Only if I allow you to come.”

He was starting to get the picture. “You like being in control,” he
