“Yeah. I’m fine.” She settled into the cold, uncomfortable chair, molding her hands around the warm paper cup. “Let's wrap this trip up quickly. That's all I want.”

His gaze raked her face. “You sure?”

She took a deep breath. “Yes, minion. I don't break that easily.”

He crossed his arms. “So, you’re in love with Drake.”

She blew out a breath. “I don’t want to talk about it.”

“Maybe you should.”

“No, Dr. Phil, maybe I shouldn’t,” she snapped. He was really plucking her nerves now.

He took a sip of coffee and studied her. “Once we’re in Romania, you’ll have to tell me everything. You know that, don’t you?”

“Okay, Renfield. We’ll talk about it in Romania. But for the next twelve hours, don’t ask me anything and keep me supplied with alcohol, okay?” She closed her eyes. “It'll make the trip go faster.”

“All right.” He pulled a flask out of his backpack and handed it to her. “Let’s get started.”

She unscrewed the top. The sharp scent of cognac hit her nostrils. She smiled and tipped it up, taking a few swallows. “Thanks.”

He gave her a half smile and took the flask. “No problem, boss.”

Somewhere out there, Drake and Pip headed for California. She could feel his touch across the miles. She prayed they'd be okay and make it to New York in one piece. A part of her went with them. The part attached to Drake as

They boarded the plane, and soon, they were in the air. She donned headphones and turned on her MP3 player. Every song reminded her of Drake. Damn it. Finally, she tore off the headpiece. She grabbed Felix’s flask and drained it in a few gulps.

He took the empty flask, brows drawn together.

She wrapped her arms around her chest, reclined her seat, and turned onto her side. The alcohol seeped into her brain, blurring her thoughts and emotions. Ah, the bliss of oblivion. Exactly what she needed.

She'd grit her teeth and get through this trip because she was Talia the tiger. She’d pray that Drake and Pip made it safely home by the time she returned. But if they didn’t, she tract them down like her feline namesake, even if she had to go to California.

With a deep sigh, she closed her eyes. Next stop, Romania.
