“She hates me.”

The statement was simple but inarguable. Unfortunately, if the look in Rosalind’s eyes when last he saw her was any indication to the level of her hatred, they certainly had cause to worry. That Forath’s younger princess had managed to steal Addie out from under his very nose was highly devious…and also quite cunning. Uprisings among the smaller villages had been far less successful at infiltrating the royal family of Edana than her. But these were matters for he and his warriors to be concerned with, not Adelaide. And though Rosalind’s continued absence worried him far more than he was willing to admit, Zayne refused to allow his betrothed to be consumed by worry this day.

He nuzzled his nose to hers. “The princess hates everyone.”

“True.” Addie’s lips quirked into a grin. “Well, everyone except Quinn.”

“Who searches for her day and night. If anyone can find her, he will.”

“Do you think she’ll ever come around? I mean, if there’s anyone she has a right to hate, it’s me. I stole her fiancé, foiled her plans.” Addie shook her head. “Heck, I’d probably hate me too.”

“Waste no more time worrying about matters you cannot control, my love. The decision to forgive and seek happiness is hers alone.”

“Maybe you’re right. Still, I feel terrible.”

“On the contrary.” Zayne reached to slide both hands down along her sleek back. “I think you feel perfect.”

Her cheeks flushed. “You’re just saying that.”

He pulled her higher onto his chest and stretched to graze his lips along her jaw. “Shall I show you how perfect I think you are?”

Her fingers wove their way into his hair as Addie’s lips tugged into the adorable grin he would never in all his days tire of seeing.

“Oh, please do.
