When I looked up I saw Kent pacing, his hands behind his back. "Shut the door, please."

I closed the door and pressed my lips together, not that he noticed, he was deep in his own thoughts. I waited, leaning against the door and watching as he paced the room. I could see his mind turning, his thoughts gathering. I wasn't sure I was ready for what was to come.

"I'm trying to figure out how to process this..."

Thank God. If he wasn't ready to talk I could stop leaning against the door, waiting for his wrath. Certainly, wrath is what he'd be feeling.

I cleared my throat, "Well, you can take all the time you need and when you're ready I can come back--"

"No." His eyes whipped around to me, pinning me to the door. "So you knew for months, and then you come by and drop this kind of thing off? I should have known earlier, you should've told me earlier."

I swallowed hard and let my eyes drop to the ground, "I didn't tell anyone. I didn't exclude solely you."

He exhaled and went to his bed. He put his hands in his lap after he sat down. "Is that why you haven't called or been around?"

"No, not because of that."

Our mothers, downstairs, erupted into a loud fit of laughter. I jumped, surprised at the sound of it. My eyes went to Kent but he wasn't paying the noise any attention.

"Why then?"

"Because..." I trailed off and paused, gathering my own thoughts. Should I tell him the truth or lie? "Because that night, when we found out about your mom, I let you in again. And when I saw you with Jen it just--it just brought everything back. And when you didn't text me from the hospital to ask me to come, I..." No, he didn't need to know the gory details. I stopped myself.

"She was there and I told her to go home. She wanted to stay after you dropped my bag off, but I didn't let her. All I hoped was that you'd come back with my bag and we'd be the ones staying with my mom there. It was a big blow that you'd just left."

I shrugged my shoulders, "It's moot now. We...
I
am going to be having your baby."

I watched as the muscles in his jaw tightened. "I like how you forced me out of that."

I pressed my lips together, resisting the urge to fly off the handle. "I'm giving you the chance to say whether or not you want to be involved. But if you'd rather I take it back and continue to ignore you then," I paused and pushed myself off the door as he got up from his bed and came towards me.

"You already know the answer to that question."

"No, I don't. Downstairs it came off pretty clearly that you didn't want anything to do with me." I held his pinning gaze, my hands curling into defensive fists at my sides.

In an instant his cold, angry demeanor fell and his hand was on my cheek. His skin was warm and my eyes fluttered closed. His lips pressed to mine and my body nearly melted. I accepted the kiss, having missed him so much these past few months. But reality crept back in and I pushed against his chest. I heard him groan softly as he pulled himself away. "That's not, I mean, that's not what I meant," I whispered. I wasn't sure who I was trying to convince, him or myself.

"Isn't it?" His raspy, sex-coated voice vibrated through my already aroused body.

I closed my eyes tightly. Keep it together, Elly. When I opened my eyes I saw him smirking at me and felt my cheeks flair. "So you've reconsidered on the friends with benefits thing?" He shrugged his shoulders and tried to press his lips to mine but I held him back. "Kent, I thought you were ready to talk."

He shook his head and tried once more to kiss me. And once more I pushed him back. He was going to muddle my mind and make me a blabbering mess. And we still needed to talk. I'd made up my mind that I wanted him in my life. And I wanted to know if he still felt the same.

"Come on, Elly. My lips have missed yours. My hands have missed touching you. We can talk later. After."

"After what?" My heart was beating wildly in my chest as I anxiously waited for his answer.

"After we have makeup sex. Lots and lots of makeup sex."

"But we didn't even really fight."

"Are you sure?" he asked. I was trying really hard to keep my brain working. Was I sure? Yes, I thought so. I nodded. "I was sure you called me a self-absorbed asshat." I felt my brow fall downwards. "No?" he asked. I shook my head. "You should have, because I was. I'm sorry. Can we make up now?"

As soon as his lips met my neck my defenses were weakened. "No." I managed to get it out and he pulled away, a look of hurt on his face.

"No?" He sighed and let me go, stepping back. "I'll have to make it up to you another way then." It took him all of three seconds to pick me up and carry me to his bed. Once he had me laid down he lifted up my maternity dress and pulled down my panties. I looked down at him as he put a possessive hand over my stomach, his face moving towards my center. I tried to press my knees together but he was already between them.

"Kent... Our moms are downstairs..." He slipped a finger slowly inside of me and I gasped as he discovered how wet I already was for him.

"Jesus, Elly," he almost sounded pained. He sucked my juices off his finger. "You sure you don't want that makeup sex? Your body is telling me something different than your mouth is."

I couldn't say anything. His words were literally teasing me, his breath hot on my center. I was going to come right there if he didn't move and soon. He slipped his finger inside again. I felt his eyes staring at me, watching as I arched my back and bit my lower lip so I wouldn't make noise again.

"That didn't sound as good. Did I do it wrong?" I gasped as he inserted another finger, stretching me out. The fact that his fingers were so slick and warm was driving me batty. I was panting softly, trying to contain myself.

"Please," I whispered.

"Please what, Els?" He moved his fingers very slowly in and out of me. I bit my lower lip hard and shook my head. I wasn't going to say it. "Faster?" He moved them faster. "Harder?" It vaguely occurred to me that he was repeating what I'd told him that morning we'd had sex in the shower. He finger fucked me until I came which followed shortly after his teeth nipped my inner thigh.

I rolled over and he spooned me, his arm around my waist, his erection pressed against my lower back. But he didn't push me, didn't force me to do anything to him. He was by far the most selfless lover I'd ever had. And I hoped that it would remain that way for as long as we could make it work between us.

"Kent?"

"Mmm?" He sounded tired, sleepy. Relieved maybe.

"Say my name." And he did. Over and over again, later that night when we'd gone back to his apartment to celebrate the newest charm on my bracelet--a tiny engagement ring.

I also wanted to take a moment to ask you for a huge favor. If you loved this book and want others to be able to discover it, I would greatly appreciate if you'd return to the ebook seller you purchased it from and leave a review. Are reviews really so important? Yes! Unless the book has 100 reviews it is definitely important to leave one.

Did you look at reviews before making your purchase? Most likely you did. I know that I do. Thousands of other people do as well. If there aren't adequate reviews a lot of customers will not take a chance on an Indie Author like myself.

Another reason to leave a review is because there are some big advertising companies who will not allow an author to advertise with them unless their book has 100+ reviews. Doesn't seem fair, but that's their business model.

Have you never reviewed a book before? That's okay! For Kindle users this process is super simple. Page all the way to the end of the book and they already have the form there waiting for you.

And if you are feeling super generous you can log onto a computer and write multiple reviews on multiple ebook sellers and on the popular book lovers site, Goodreads. Just copy the review and paste it in the other website's review slots, hit
submit
and you're done! And you will make me (and any other author you review in the future) extremely pleased!

I heard her before I saw her. There was a female sitting on the steps in the back stairwell. I considered how best to comfort the damsel in distress when I recognized the blonde hair and the legs that went on for miles. Fuck. Why would she be crying? I'd known Claire for years and I'd never seen her cry.

I sat down next to her and wrapped my arm around her shoulders, "I thought Saturday was the best day of the week." I smiled at her just in case she looked up, she didn't. She stilled and stopped sobbing next to me, as if hoping that maybe I was a figment of her imagination. That made me smile wider. She was so damned cute. I bumped my shoulder against hers gently, which sent tiny sparks through my body. "You can't just cover your face until I go away, what's going on?" I looked her over and noticed a trickle of blood going down both her knees.

She sniffled softly and lifted her face from her hands. Her right cheek had some blood on it from her scraped up hand. She glanced at me quickly before looking down at her knees. She pulled her skirt down to cover her knees. "Nothing, I just... I just scraped my hand and my knees..." I knew her long enough to know she wasn't one to cry over a little scrape. I also knew she probably wasn't going to open up and tell me what the crying was really all about. I wanted to hold her and comfort her so I scooped her up into my arms, she felt weightless and made a tiny noise of surprise. Her body fit snugly against my chest as if she belonged there.

"So you were on your way home, scraped your knee and couldn't take the pain so you sat down and cried? That doesn't sound right..." I looked at her face, her nose was a little pink from the crying. She wouldn't meet my gaze.

"I'm PMSing."

I busted a laugh. She wasn't about to scare me off by mentioning the mysterious girl thing. She wrapped her arms around my neck and I snapped my eyes forward, it the most sober touching she'd ever given me and I'd be damned if it didn't send jolts through me and right to my dick, which was quickly waking up.

I snuck a glance at her, she was batting her long lashes at me. "Uh-huh." I wasn't going to press the issue at hand but she had to know I didn't believe her PMS story. She sighed and looked at my chest, I flexed it. I was very proud of my muscles, I worked hard in the gym to get them. I hoped she was enjoying them. I shook my head a little to clear my thoughts.

"I'm having boy problems." She looked so sad and defeated.
