“Come.” Noah urged Lena to her feet, not once losing contact with her skin. “These people need a little alone time.”
“Eva?” Lena hesitated. Her legs felt weak and her concern for her sister made her feet too heavy to move, although she liked the idea of spending a little alone with the younger brother. “Are you okay?”

“I’m just a little tired.” Eva lifted her head to smile briefly. “Go, get to know him. If he’s anything like my Josh, he’ll be a good man.” She watched as Noah led Lena out of the apartment; he had one of his own on the floor below.

“Your Josh?” Joshua lifted his head. His mouth carried a sweet smile and there was relief on his face. The pain was gone and was never coming back, his brain seemed to function easier now and that was due to this wonderful woman.

“You are mine,” Eva stared back, no doubt in that earnest look. “I don’t know how or why, but you are mine. I feel it deep inside as though you were born for me.”

“I’m older, you were born for me,” he laughed softly. He didn’t have the energy for much more. “My people committed a travesty on yours and I can’t change that, but I swear I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to make amends.” His eyes left her face to look to the windows. One long pane of glass had a hole through it; a perfect circle like it had formed when the glass was made, but along the edges of this hole were crystals of ice, like a lace cover protecting them from the outside world. It would remain there; he would allow none to interfere, knowing it was created from the joining of their powers. Fire and Ice.

“I’m tired.” Eva touched her hand to his face, wiping at the vestiges of the tears, turning to a light dusting of snow on his skin at her touch, which she softly blew away.

“How tired?” Joshua’s hands gently, cautiously edged the cream robe from her shoulders, her pale skin a wonder to his eyes, a treat for his fingers. She smiled at him as he lifted her tenderly into his arms, before headed to his bedroom, their bedroom.

“It’s Valentine’s Day and you, my beautiful Eva, are part of my life, my family. It is our duty to provide a child to continue our line for both our peoples. We will create a new clan with the powers and honor of our past… together.”

Not if we produce a child first,
Noah’s chuckle echoed around Joshua’s head, a woman’s soft giggle resonating in the background.

We’ll see.
Joshua laughed as he laid his precious Ice Witch down on his bed, his lips moving toward her mouth. This was a new beginning for them all but the true magic started when Fire and Ice found love on Valentine’s Day.

The End.
