The hotel lobby was quiet as I entered. Sure, it was ten thirty on Christmas Eve, but I was so used to a lobby being active at all hours that seeing this one empty was odd. There was only the bellman, who nodded at me as I entered, and Jose at the desk. His smile was exactly what I needed to see.

“Mr. Bell,” he said as I approached. He sounded like he was welcoming a long-lost friend despite his formal greeting. “Glad you’ve made it back.”

“Me too. It was a ridiculous day.” My stomach growled loud enough for both of us to hear. “I’ve missed the restaurant, haven’t I?”

“I’m afraid so. Room service is still open.” He dropped his voice more to a whisper. “Or if you want, I know a great twenty-four hour diner a couple blocks away. We could go get some food once I’m off.”

He looked hopeful. I was definitely game to know him better, and to eat. My stomach rumbled again, prompting me to answer. “I’d love to have dinner with you. I’ll go freshen up and come back down. What time?”

“Unlike last night, the person replacing me is already here. Let’s meet at the couches over there”—he pointed to the grouping that was closest to the desk—“at eleven fifteen.”

“Sounds good. I’ll see you then.” I slapped my hand on the counter for extra confirmation.

The phone rang. “Perfect. See you soon.” He picked up. “Front desk. This is Jose. How may I help you?”

I left him to the phone and headed up to the room. I was tired, but it would be worth staying up late to go out with him for a while, and maybe even invite him back to my room. While the dinner setup made this feel more like a date than a hookup, I still wanted the hookup. Tomorrow’s holiday meant I didn’t have to get up early.

In the room I stripped off my clothes and hit the shower. It wouldn’t be bad getting him in here either. There was a bench along the back wall that could be put to good use.

I took my time in the shower so it could revive me. Its massage settings beat down on my shoulders and released the tension from the combination of the day’s emergency and hunching over a keyboard for hours. I emerged refreshed and ready to see Jose.

I slipped on a pair of black-and-gray boxers while I primped my floppy brown hair, which was trimmed just short enough to keep it out of my eyes. I was putting myself together like it was a proper date. It’d been a while since I’d found anyone I wanted to go out with. I wasn’t sure what got me going about Jose. I hardly knew him. At this point I knew more about him as a potential guy to get naked with than how he’d be as a date. Yet something in his smile told me I was going to have a great time even if we didn’t make it to bed.

Once I was done in the bathroom, I pulled on a pair of black jeans along with a black long-sleeve T-shirt. Yeah, my wardrobe was one note, but it was easy working with black because I didn’t have to worry about color combinations. What I debated about was the vest. Was it too dressy? It was just a diner, after all. What would he be wearing? Suit or more casual? I was overthinking. No vest. Not tonight, anyway.

I headed downstairs around ten after and plopped down on one of the couches. I pulled out my phone and read some of the e-mails I hadn’t seen during the day. I’d barely started reading before he appeared.

“Hi, Martin. Hope I didn’t keep you waiting long.”

“Please call me Marty. Martin is for the job.” I took him in before I stood up. He was in dark-blue jeans and a sky-blue V-neck long-sleeved shirt. The colors worked beautifully on him, setting off his features handsomely. The V-neck clung to him perfectly, outlining in detail what I saw in his pictures last night. Plus there was a sexy peek of chest hair at the neck. I stood and shook his hand, feeling a great energy flowing from him. If it was possible to flirt through a handshake, he’d done it. “I hope I’m not keeping you with the late dinner?”

“Not at all,” he said. “Shall we?” He gestured toward the door. It wasn’t until we were outside that he spoke again. “I’m glad we’re getting together. You caught my eye at the desk when you checked in, but I didn’t expect to find you like I did. I… well, I’m not on there a lot. Last night I was just looking for something, you know?”

“Totally. I’m the same. It was just a wild hair that I hopped on last night. Sometimes you want more than porn and your hand.”

“Right?” he said enthusiastically.

“You caught me right away, not only with your picture, but your use of full sentences in your message. It was refreshing.” He was quiet as we walked. Had I said the wrong thing? “Everything okay?” I finally asked.

“Sorry. I’ve gotten grief a couple times for my perfectly formatted messages.” His pep returned. “It’s great to find someone who actually liked them.”

“I did, Jose, very much.” I shot him a smile, hoping mine had the same effect his did on me.

“Call me JJ. Like Martin, Jose is only for work.”

“Cool.”

We were at the diner in no time. It looked like Christmas had exploded with tinsel, lights, garland, and ornaments everywhere. The only thing missing was an actual tree. JJ knew many of the people here. There were hellos from several of the customers and the staff.

“I’m here a lot after work. It’s easy to come and have a bite before I head home.”

“I’ve got a place near my office that’s the same. If they see me park my car, they get my food started before I’m even in the door.”

We took an open booth. Sitting across from him was intoxicating. He gave off an easy confidence, no trace of nerves that he was sitting with someone he’d known only a few minutes. There was no sign he’d worked all day either; he seemed alert and ready to go.

“Hey, JJ.” A waiter came over, pad in hand. “Usual tonight?”

“Yeah, I think so. Maybe throw in some extra bacon?”

“You got it. A little Christmas bonus. Who’s your friend?”

“Brandon, this is Marty.”

He nodded. “What can I get you, Marty?”

“What do you recommend?” I looked to JJ.

“It’s hard to go wrong with the breakfast menu. I’m getting a short stack of blueberry pancakes and crispy bacon.”

“We’ve got a special omelet tonight,” Brandon offered. “Spinach, broccoli, tomatoes, red pepper, and some pepper jack cheese. The cook’s being cute and calling it the Christmas omelet because of the red and green.”

“Why not? Let’s go with the Christmas omelet, along with some of that crispy bacon and coffee.”

“Good idea,” JJ added. “Coffee for me too.”

Brandon raised an eyebrow but didn’t comment. That must have been something that wasn’t JJ’s usual. “I’ll get that out right away. Let me know if you need anything else.”

“Glad you told me about this place,” I said. “I may be here a lot over the next week.”

“The company has you here for a while. I don’t see many open reservations.”

“Yeah, I figure I’m here at least ten days.”

There was a glint in his eye that sent shockwaves through me. “I think I’m kinda glad about that.”

I smiled and looked away. I wasn’t use to such overt flirting directed at me. JJ had a way about him that triggered my shyness, and not in a bad way.

“I think the week could turn out pretty good,” I said, focusing back on him.

“So what are you missing in San Francisco tomorrow?”

“You’re gonna think it’s silly.” I busied myself fixing the coffee that Brandon delivered.

“Try me.” He ignored his coffee, watching me instead.

“Some friends and I were going to do a day of
Halo
after Christmas breakfast. Well, they still are. I’m out here.”

“So what are you doing instead?” He drank the still-black coffee.

I shrugged. “I haven’t decided.” I chuckled. “Can always go to a movie or two, or spend the day reading. What about you?”

Even as he answered, it seemed like he was thinking hard about something. “I work from three to eleven again, so that’s a chunk of my day gone.”

Our food arrived and we spent a few moments eating. I knew I was hungry, but didn’t realize how much until I had to restrain myself from eating the giant omelet too fast.

Suddenly JJ leaned over the table, and I leaned in too. “So do we get to continue what we tried to start last night?” he asked quietly.

“There’s no way I can say no to that smile,” I said, offering up a shy smile of my own. “Do you have any idea how fantastic it makes you look? It’s like a superpower that makes others do whatever you say.”

The smile widened. “Good to know,” he said.

I could’ve passed out right there. Fuck, he was going to be good.

“So that’s a yes, then?” he asked.

“Very much a yes.”

He nodded and went back to his food, eating faster than before. I didn’t mind picking up the pace. In no time we were out of the diner and headed back to the hotel.

WALKED
quietly to my room, but my body was humming with excitement. Dinner had been good, but I was ready to move this to the next level. I fumbled with the key, which was just stupid. This wasn’t high school or my first time hooking up. What was with the nerves all of a sudden? I finally got the door open, thankfully without dropping the key on the floor.

“Wow, you keep a tidy room,” he said.

“I tend to stay organized when I travel. Makes things easier. Believe me, I know how to make a room look really lived-in too.”

“Uh-huh, let me just look in here.” He poked his head in the bathroom. “Nope, you’re a tidy one. The towels are hung up and not on the floor. That says everything.”

“You must have a lot of experience reading people, working at a place like this,” I said as he closed the space between us.

He took my hand and started kissing my knuckles, ignoring my observation. His energy flowed through me. I’d never experienced this when touching anyone else, and it was incredible. It was an instant connection. I wondered if he felt it too, and if not, why not.

I needed to kiss him. I gently took my hand out of his grip while angling my head toward his. He was just a touch shorter than I was, so I had to lean down. He kept his eyes open, and I willed mine to stay open too. Our lips connected. Sparks flew, and I shuddered a little.

JJ ran his hand through my hair as he outlined my lips with his tongue. He pressed on, slipping his tongue inside my mouth, exploring. The smallest moans escaped from JJ, only increasing my desire. Every place we were touching caused my skin to heat up.

He pushed me against the credenza with a force I liked. His bulge against my inner thigh blew my mind. He seemed huge. I could only imagine the tent in his jeans. Did he have a baseball bat in there? My mouth watered at the thought of getting to work on it, and yet I didn’t want to break the kissing. I reached down and grabbed his ass, feeling its tautness through the denim.

Suddenly he pulled back from the kisses, but only enough so he could get at the hem of my shirt and pull it up. I raised my arms, but the collar caught on my glasses. We both laughed.

“One second.” I removed the obstacle and put the glasses down on the credenza so he could pull the shirt the rest of the way off. As soon as he tossed it aside, he ran his hands over my chest, further heating my desire. He had me quaking nonstop with all his touches.

“Your pictures don’t do you justice,” JJ said, flicking one of my nipples with his thumb. “Can we put these back on?” He slid my glasses on as he asked.

“You like the look, eh?”

“Guys with glasses have always been a weakness. When you unlocked last night and I saw that it was you, and you had the glasses on in the picture too….” He went quiet, and the faintest hint of red crept into this cheeks.

“What?” I gave him a smirk, eager to hear what he wasn’t saying.

“I kinda jerked off to that picture when I got home. It’s crazy hot. You have no idea how restrained I was in the diner with you looking all cute right across from me.”

There was that smile again. How did he keep pulling those out? How did I keep falling for them?

While my glasses were a thing for him, that smile and self-confidence did it for me. I pushed him back for a moment so I could jump up to sit on the credenza. I was in the perfect position to wrap my legs around him and keep him close, close enough our cocks bumped through our pants.

I was rock hard despite the fact we weren’t naked yet. The kissing intensified as he ran his hands around my back. All of my senses were in a heightened state.

I broke the kisses for a moment to strip his shirt off. He was buffer than in his pictures. The pecs were clearly defined. I didn’t usually prefer guys who trimmed, but on him, it worked. I tossed the shirt aside and it landed near mine. His arms were big too. No wonder I liked being wrapped in them.

I nibbled on his neck. That got his attention as he moaned even more than when we were kissing. He returned his fingers to my nipples and started tweaking, pinching, and teasing them. A few moans escaped me too, which was unlike me because I was usually pretty quiet until I got close to cumming. JJ was bringing things out in me most people didn’t, things I didn’t even bring out myself, usually.

Suddenly he stepped back, breaking my leg lock. Keeping his eyes on mine, he kicked off his shoes before slowly unbuttoning his jeans. It was the world’s slowest reveal. I licked my lips a couple times in anticipation of what was coming. I leaned back against the wall and unbuttoned the top button on my jeans. Then slowly, trying to match his speed, I lowered the zipper while wishing I had my button-fly jeans on so I could mirror him exactly. I wanted to tell him to hurry up, but the slow, deliberate movements were scorching hot.

As he hit the end of the line of buttons, he opened the flaps so I could see the red-and-blue striped underwear he wore. Peeking out of the top of his waistband were his dark pubes, trimmed short, but so enticing with their tease.

I opened my jeans, showing my boxers. My cock ran along the left side, clearly outlined against the fabric. Even though the boxers were loose, the fabric was strained because I was so hard.

If there’d been a fly in his briefs, I think his cock would’ve poked out. He slowly dropped his jeans, revealing his powerful legs. I couldn’t explain my thing with quads, but something about a man with big, strong legs was a major turn-on. It was something I checked out on any guy wearing shorts or less.
