“How long have you been out here?” Zane asked.

Danica shrugged. “I don’t know. An hour, maybe more.”

Lowell sighed and shook his head. “Why didn’t you call, darlin’? I know you’ve got Zane’s number.”

Darlin’. Okay, that was an infinitesimal step in the right direction. She felt her cheeks heat. “I left my phone back at the house in Horn Hill. It was stupid of me, I know. I just, well, I only had a few minutes to get some things together and get to the airport before the plane left. I probably left more behind that I’ll end up needing than I’ve realized just yet.”

“Why did you come here?”

Zane was the one to finally drop the big question, the one she had been expecting, and the one she refused to answer with anything but the blunt truth.

“To move in.” She said it in a rush, the words almost slurring together in her haste to get them out.

Neither man spoke as they stared at her unblinking for so long it terrified her.

“You’re serious?” There wasn’t an ounce of disbelief in Lowell’s tone. There wasn’t an ounce of belief there, either.

“As a proverbial heart attack.” Danica took a deep breath and let the rest spill. “I’m sorry for everything I said before you left my house. I had my reasons. Good ones,” she quickly added, “but I’ve been going crazy. I love you.” She locked her gaze with Lowell’s for several meaningful heartbeats, then slid her attention to Zane. “Both of you. I—”

Zane didn’t let her finish. In a move she didn’t even see coming, he hooked an arm around her waist and yanked her so hard against him that she squeaked. “That’s all you had to say.”

Danica melted against him, and in that moment, she knew nothing in the world would ever feel more right than spending the rest of her life in his arms. Nothing, except being held by Lowell, too.

She shifted in Zane’s embrace, her arm shaking as she reached for Lowell. For a nanosecond, she feared he wouldn’t come to her, that he would push her away as she had attempted to do to them. Then he took a the single step that brought him close enough for her to snake her hand around his neck and draw him even closer, and she brushed a kiss to his lips.

“Damn, woman, loving you is gonna be the death of me.” He said the words so huskily, so gruffly, she almost didn’t hear them, but then his tongue pushed between her lips and swept inside her mouth, and she forgot all about listening.

She lost herself in his taste, all devilishly sexy and deliciously male, groaning into his mouth as his tongue took control of hers, leading it in a dance that sent her mind whirling.

“I really do want to explain about the other afternoon,” she told him, easing back to meet his gaze. “And then we have to talk about this cockamamie idea the two of you seem to have about leaving the FBI.” She turned her head toward Zane, tipping her head back to kiss him, his lips gaping in surprise. “Ben Hoffman called me after he had a long talk with Parker Ferrell. It seems the sheriff of Horn Hill is under the impression he’s about to have two former FBI special agents on his payroll.”

“About that—” Zane began, but Lowell cut him off.

“How about we take this inside. This ain’t Horn Hill, darlin’. Some strange things go on in this city, but we might wanna keep our neighbors in the dark ’til we get this all straightened out.”

Zane loosened his hold on her waist, but didn’t release her. He guided her up the front steps to the door, letting Lowell take the lead so he could unlock the house.

Danica stepped inside after him, her gaze making a quick sweep of what she could see of the house before she heard the door close and Zane spun her around to face him. She had seen enough to determine the place had an L-shaped living room that led to a kitchen with what had appeared to be a center island from what she had been able to tell through the doorway.

“You didn’t really believe when we left that we were going to leave you alone, did you?”

“I—” It was exactly what she had believed, but she could see now as she gazed into Zane’s eyes how stupid she had been.

“I told you I wasn’t walkin’ away again.” Lowell came up behind her, pressing the hard wall of his body so firmly against hers that she felt his heat beating through her shirt and his.

She angled her head, tipping it back so she could look at him. “And I told you to go.”

A wickedly devilish smile unfolded on his lips. “Who gives who the orders in this relationship, darlin’?”

His question stirred her hormones into a full-fledged tornado as she thought of the orders he could and would give her.

“Since you seem to be havin’ trouble with the answer, I’ll tell you. Zane and I do.” His hands found her hips just under Zane’s on her waist, his fingers digging into tender flesh. “I’ll admit that little scene you put on back in Horn Hill knocked me off my game for a little while, but it didn’t knock me down, darlin’.”

“What I want to know is why you even bothered?” Zane’s breath fanned her neck as he leaned in to lick a path from her throat to her ear.

She waited until she felt him ease back to turn her head to look at him, then had to search her brain for the explanation. It would be easier to talk about this if she weren’t in the middle of an FBI-special-agent sandwich. Then again, there was no way in hell she was going to ask them to let her go.

“The other night, you both told me you loved me, and I didn’t say anything. I couldn’t because I knew deep down what it would mean, what you would try to do. Both of you attempted to do it anyway. You were going to leave the FBI for me.” She shook her head vehemently. “I couldn’t let you do that. I won’t be responsible for the two of you giving up something you both worked so hard for, something you both love.”

“Yet, you were willin’ to be responsible for pushin’ us to give up somethin’ else we love,” Lowell countered. “Someone we both know we can’t live without.”

Hearing him say that, knowing he meant it brought tears to Danica’s eyes. She closed them briefly, took a deep breath, and was surprised at how steady her voice sounded when spoke again. “You don’t have to give up either of us, not me or the FBI, that’s—”

“No, we don’t.”

“Why I rushed here so—” She twisted between them so she could see Lowell more fully and glared at him in confusion. “What did you say?”

“That’s what I planned to do at first, what we both intended to do. We came pretty damn close to it, too. Zane had a different idea, one that would’ve put us workin’ out of the Birmingham office, but a transfer there was a no go. Marcum, he’s our superior, made some more calls and got us lined up to transfer to the Jackson office in Mississippi instead. It’s still a ways from Horn Hill, but it’s closer than Tampa.”

She could see how it might work. Still, she knew the demands of their job and five hours was no different than seven when it came to a quick road trip home to her.

“Or you can pull the transfer requests, break Parker Ferrell’s heart, and keep your positions here where I will be, too.”

“Would you be happy here, Dannie?”

Danica turned back to Zane. “I’m not crazy about big cities, but I’ll adapt. I know I’ll be happier here than either of you will be in a one-horse town like Horn Hill. You’re used to the city, Zane, and Lowell never would’ve considered staying in Horn Hill, even when we were together before, if it hadn’t been for me.”

“What about your house, your friends, your career?”

“Parker has managed to fill one of the spots he has open on the department. From what Ben said, he’s bringing in a female from the Birmingham police force. She’s already looking for a place to rent. I told him to give her my number.” She bit her lip and grinned. “Of course, it’s not going to do her much good until I get my phone back, but…Anyway, as for friends, I know more people in Florida than the full population of Horn Hill. Granted, I’ve never met most of them face-to-face. They’re authors, readers, and people in the publishing industry. Which brings us to my career, a job that follows me wherever I go. There are more opportunities for me here, conventions, conferences, slews of bookstores to hold signings…The list goes on.”

Lowell chuckled. “It sounds like you’ve got it all figured out.”

Danica shrugged. “It wasn’t hard once I gave in to everything, once I stopped fighting what I feel and the knowledge that I will never be happy or whole without both of you in my life.”

Lowell nuzzled his face in the side of her neck and whispered in her ear. “And the past?”

“Is the past.” She reached a hand up and around to cup his slightly stubbled cheek. “I need you.” She squeezed Zane’s shoulder. “Both of you. Make love to me. Now. No bindings, no blindfolds, no paddles, or other toys. Just the three of us. Please.”

Neither man spoke, but Lowell got another squeak out of her when he used his hold on her hips to scoop her into his arms.

“This time we’re makin’ it to a bed first. That living room floor of yours was so damn hard it like to have killed me.”

Danica threw her head back and laughed, catching sight of Zane grinning as he followed behind them. “Whose room is this?” she asked as Lowell carried her into a bedroom and started to lower her to her feet.

“Mine.” Zane moved in behind her, his hands immediately fisting in the sides of her shirt. “It has the bigger bed.”

“Oh, good.” Her pulse accelerated as he pulled her shirt from the waistband of her skirt and lifted it up her torso. “We’ll need a big bed.”

“Damn right, we will.” Lowell bent in front of her, his tongue peeking from between his lips to lick each inch of flesh Zane exposed from her waist straight to her throat.

Danica shivered, momentarily frustrated when Zane stopped with her arms over her head and the shirt over her face to dip his head and nip the back of her shoulder. Her irritation vanished in an instant when he pulled the shirt the rest of the way off and tossed it to the floor.

Lowell’s arms wound around her, his fingers finding the clasp of her bra and freeing it with a practiced ease. He skimmed the straps down her arms, freeing her breasts from the cups, and threw it to an unknown destination in the room.

Their hands began to roam her body, caressing her flesh, heading for the waistband of her skirt, and freeing the button. No way was she going to let them be the only ones who got to touch. This time would be a no-rules, no-holds-barred, wild and crazy event, and she intended to make damn sure she got skin-to-skin with both of them pronto.

She skimmed her hands over the front of Lowell’s broad shoulders, glided them down and worked each button loose until she reached the waistband of his jeans. Behind her, Zane had unfastened her skirt, his fingers dipping between her flesh and the leather to push it down her thighs.

Lowell crushed his mouth to hers, immediately taking control of the kiss, and sending her concentration scrambling. She managed to hold onto just enough of her scruples to remember her job at hand and pushed his shirt off his broad shoulders and down his strong arms to let it fall in a pool of material behind him.

Then, Gods, yes, her needy breasts were pressing against the warm, unyielding male flesh of his Lowell’s chest and the sensations consumed her. Her tongue plundered his mouth, dancing with his as she reached for the button of his jeans, working feverishly to free his cock from the binding denim. Skin-to-skin felt great, but she needed more. She needed to be one with him, with them.

“You’re so wild, so hungry.” Zane nipped her earlobe. “So hot.” He palmed her bare ass. “And you aren’t wearing panties.” One of his hands moved around her, pushing between her body and Lowell’s, and he covered her pussy with his palm.

Danica tore her mouth from Lowell’s on a strangled gasp when Zane pushed a finger between her smoldering folds to apply pressure to her throbbing clit. “I had to take them off in the car. They got too wet on the plane.”

“What were you thinkin’ about during that plane ride to fill your panties with cream, darlin’?”

She fisted her hands in Lowell’s hair as Zane flicked the tip of his nail across her sensitized clit. The sharp sliver of pain morphed to an immediate slice of pleasure that drew a moan from her throat.

“You. Both of you.” Zane’s hand delved further down until the pad of two fingers pressed at her sopping entrance. She arched into his touch, attempting to draw his fingers inside her. Her pussy flamed, the need for penetration so acute it created an emptiness in her center that made her want to weep. “This.”

“It will always be like this.” Zane’s husky voice rang with promise as his hands glided up her torso to cover her breasts.

Her breasts fit so perfectly in his hands, as if his palms were made to hold them forever. She wanted his hands there forever. “I know. We’ll make sure it is.”

We
will make sure it is.” The cool authority was back in Lowell’s drawl, leaving her no doubt he believed it was his job to make sure she always stayed happy, pleasured, and satisfied.

Lowell’s hands moved to where Zane’s had been, one cupping her ass and the other turning to push between her folds. He pinched her labia, tugged and rolled the tender flesh, and she nearly came unglued between them.

“Please.” The word came on a barely audible whisper as she let her head fall back on Zane’s shoulder. She couldn’t decide whose hands should be labeled most as torture devices, Lowell’s or Zane’s. One set toyed with her soaked pussy and squeezed at her tingling ass cheek, while the other pair molded her breasts, weighing and squeezing until sanity got lost in the pleasure. “Make love to me now. Please.”
