Meg lifted her head from Cole’s shoulder, still swaying in time to the music, the silver heart around her neck glittering in the light from the antler chandeliers.

“Look at Zac and Lissa,” she said in a low tone. “Don’t they look happy?”

“They do. Just like newlyweds are supposed to look.” Cole’s gaze settled on the couple dancing next to Zac. “I didn’t realize Chip had a girlfriend.”

“She works with him at the grocery store.” Meg smiled. “Seems like love is in the air.”

“I love you, Mrs. Lassiter.”

“I love you, Mr. Lassiter.”

Suddenly his lips were on hers and the world around them ceased to exist. Lost in the passion of his body pressed against hers, all she knew was that he was her friend, her lover and now her husband.

“See, he’s kissing her again,” Charlie said in a loud voice just as the band quit playing.

Out of the corner of her eye, Meg saw Charlie—looking adorable in his tux—pointing to her and Cole, her brother’s two mischievous boys at his side.

“Just wait,” Charlie added. “Pretty soon he’ll be on top of her.”

A twitter rolled through the crowd.

Meg buried her face against the lapel of her husband’s tux.

Cole laughed aloud. “You’re absolutely right, son. You’re absolutely right.”
