Molly Sterling.” Emery’s hands flew to her hips. “You said you both wanted to wait. Sounds like it’s just been you. And why in hell would you think I’d be upset?”

It was clear Molly couldn’t even bring herself to say the words out loud, but her face said it all.

Emery grabbed Molly’s hand and held it to her chest. “Molly, listen to me. We’ve talked about this. Just because I can’t have kids does not mean you can’t enjoy every bit of it. Do not hold back or hide from me, I’m fine. That would break my heart, Molly. Please. Besides, I’m going to spoil yours rotten. And I do mean rotten. Okay?”

“I love you, Emery.”

“I love you too, Mol. Now let’s go share the news.”

Carter winked at Emery, then kissed her forehead, before the three of them walked out of the bathroom together to see the entire kitchen full of people staring at them. Emery went straight to Jesse’s open arms smiling big. “We have something else to celebrate!”

Jesse looked at her, then at Molly and back and forth a second time. A smile washed over him. “D?”

Molly leaned into Carter, appearing completely wiped out and white as a ghost, but looking so happy and full of love. Emery’s heart was about burst she was so happy, and seeing Molly’s face as she gazed up at Carter was priceless. She drew out the suspense for a long minute, grinning at her husband, before turning to the friends and family all standing around waiting, and nodded.

“You’re pregnant!” Eli squealed loudly and rushed to her.

His announcement made the kitchen explode in laughter, hugs, and kisses once again. Promises and bets of who would be the best uncle amongst Eli, Jesse, and Cody made Emery and Molly giggle.

Brody just shook his head, laughing as he held his own baby boy in his arms. “Hey, I have dibs on that title!”

Jesse had Emery tucked in his side, but ran his other hand over Chance’s head and down his neck, tickling him to hear his little giggle. “So, D, how long do you think it’ll be before we’ll know if it’s a girl or boy?”

Molly, still slightly green, looked up at Carter again and shrugged for the group. “Maybe one of each.”

The crowd was only silent for a few seconds before Jesse loudly asked, “
Twins
?

The room went wild for the third time that night.

Jesse kissed Emery then joined in as the men in the room as they congratulated Carter, patting him on the back, high-fiving him like he had done something manly and awesome.

Molly slipped from Carter and went to Emery’s open arms and rolling eyes. “They’re a mess.”

The girls couldn’t help but laugh as the men opened fresh beer bottles to make toasts with Riley, Reid, James, Kevin, and Brody joining in.

“Yeah, but Mol, they’re
ours. Look at all of them and how out-numbered we are. God, I hope you have twin girls.”

Molly laid her head on Emery’s shoulder. “You know I’m going to need all the help I can get, right? These kids will probably be at their Aunt Emery’s and Uncle Jesse’s as much as they’ll be at home.”

Emery squeezed the best girlfriend she’d ever had to her side. “Mol, I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

The last few hours had been the best of her life. She finally felt good enough to enjoy it, although it killed her to see Molly so sick. But knowing there were two babies coming into this growing family made it all worth it. She and Jesse were able to say they had a home…
together, just the two of them. It was theirs, and it was an amazing home at that. She had pinched herself twice already to make sure she wasn’t dreaming. Even though it was hard to believe it was done and they could finally say the words
we’ll be home soon
or
I’ll meet you back home
, it still felt unreal.

But the best part, the part that made her whole, was that the man she’d fallen totally, madly in love with had promised to stay by her side forever. Down on his knee, with t
ears in his eyes, with that lopsided sexy and cute and sweet grin of his on his face, and his heart on his sleeve—he had made it perfect. In the cool May night, by the fire, he’d given her a home, his heart and his promise to love her forever.

Jesse had that stomach dropping moment the minute the announcement was made, not for himself, but for Emery and what she’d never have.

He crossed to Emery as she stepped out of the hug she gave Carter. Jesse ran his palm up to her cheek and kissed her sweetly on the lips. “You doing okay?”

“Jesse, I’m getting married to the most amazing man in the world and I’m going to be an aunt…to twins. I’m
perfect,” she said, laughing.

Her sparkling emerald green eyes told him she was okay. He had always been able to read her eyes. Jesse could tell she really was all right. There was a peacefulness about her that he hadn’t seen until tonight.

“You’re right, Em, you are perfect.”

She took the beer bottle from his hand and took a long drink. Swallowi
ng, she gave it back to him. He had to admit that made him proud. There wasn’t another like her. So damn sweet and all fire at the same time. Her smile so bright it lit up the room, her eyes dancing with a hint of mischief but mostly excitement.

“I love you, Jesse. Thank you for this.” She motioned to the loud, laughing family and friends behind them. Jesse knew she had always been close to her family, but she had come to love all the rest of the people in the kitchen like they were her family, too.

“I love you too, Em.” He ran his palm up to her cheek, stroking it with his thumb. Looking down at the other half of his soul, he smiled. “You’re my girl, aren’t ya?”

She nodded as she reached up to kiss him. “Yeah. I am.”
