“I feel like we’ve done this before.” Kyd commented as they took in the scene.

Cassie was on the floor with her back against one of the seats. Jaxon was crouched in front of her holding a gun aimed at them.

Jaxon stood and held the gun out to Kyd. “Commander.”

Kyd took the gun from her. “Captain. You docked the wrong ship.” He was bothered by the relief he felt that the irritating female was unharmed. Damn female made him crazy.

Jaxon shrugged her shoulders and gave him a sly smile, “Yes Commander.”

Ren ignored them. He only had eyes for one person, “Cassie” his voice cracked. He practically threw himself across the floor of the shuttle to get to her. He took her face in his big warm hands and kissed her breathless. He would have kept kissing her if Jaxon hadn’t interrupted.

“Uh ... we don’t have time for that shit. I mean … Prime Leader; we need to get her back ASAP. She’s going into labor.” Jaxon stated.

Ren looked down at Cassie’s belly and then the floor where a pinkish liquid substance had gathered. He looked up panicked. “It’s too soon.”

“Ren, it’s going to be okay baby. But, we need to get back quickly” Cassie reassured him.

Cassie was taken aback when a tall muscular bald man squeezed into the shuttle. “We have a medic on board.” He offered. He kept glancing over at Jaxon.

Ren shook his head, “I appreciate it. But we have six medics on standby back on Katiera.”

The bald headed man looked at Ren with confusion. Why would they need six medics?

Jaxon answered his unspoken question. “This is a risky labor. She’s having twins. And they are coming earlier than we expected.”

The bald headed man looked back at Cassie with shock on his face. “But you are so small.”

Cassie smirked, “I’m big as a house! But thanks for saying that Mister ...”

“Commander TylOR of the Kiljorn Nation.” He bowed which caused Cassie to giggle and Jaxon to wink at him.

Kyd growled at the way Jaxon was openly flirting with the other male. He did not like it one bit. “We need to take Miss Tomlin back. Ren and I will take them back in this shuttle.”

Commander TylOR nodded his head, “We will take the other shuttle and escort you back down.”

Ren didn’t move an inch from Cassie. He wrapped his arms around her. He felt her body spasm.

“Oh …” Cassie said as she experienced a strong contraction.  “I think we better hurry.”

Chapter 14

The trip back down to the planet went by pretty fast. As soon as they landed, Ren took Cassie in his arms and carried her from the shuttle.

Kat was waiting with 2 other medics. “Are you having contractions?”

Cassie nodded, “Five … minutes apart.” She was having a hard time catching her breath.

“Water break” Kat asked.

“Yes … and the bloody plug.” Cassie told her.

Kat looked at Medic JadEN in alarm. “They’re coming fast. Get everyone ready.”

Prime Medic SydEL was already in the South Medic Wing waiting with the other medics. “I have a room prepped already.” He told Medic JadEN as they arrived just before Ren did with Cassie.

Kat looked into SydEL’s beautiful soft brown eyes with the yellow/gold pupils, then she turned her attention back to the current situation.  She went into the room they had set up as the birth room. She looked at the instruments from her own medical bag that she brought. The surgical forceps were there. She looked at the medical scope settings; a low level analgesic substitute was programmed since the Katierans didn’t have epidurals.

Ren placed Cassie gently on the bed in the room set up for birthing but he refused to leave her side when the medics came. “NO! I will stay!” He was going into protection mode again.

The medics backed up when they noticed the change in their Prime Leader. One medic asked the other if they should call security. Ren growled at both of them.

“Stop that!” Cassie yelled at Ren. “They are only trying to do their jobs, which is to take care of our girls and me. If you are going to go around growling and scaring people, you can leave.” She was breathing hard.

Ren turned to Cassie noticing how pale she had gotten. Though she sounded brave, what he saw in her face was a terrified female. He made himself calm down, for her sake. “I’m sorry. I will behave. But I insist on staying with you. I almost lost you today, all of you.”

Cassie reached for his hand and squeezed it comfortingly. She understood.  She had been scared that she’d never see him again. “You can stay, but stop growling at everyone.”

Ren nodded and bent to give her a gentle kiss on her lips. He hovered for a moment above her and looked deeply into her eyes as he whispered, “I love you.”

A single tear slipped down her cheek as she whispered back, “I love you too,”

Kyd paced back and forth through the holding area of the Medic Wing. The area was packed full of people. There was his youngest brother SydEL, their mother SandELa and cousin AriELa, TarAK, a few members of the High Council, Lindsey Carreli, the Kiljorn Prime Leader KadEN, Kiljorn Commander TylOR, and that annoying female warrior, Jaxon.

“What’s taking so long?” Kyd asked sounding exasperated.

“Its childbirth son, it takes as long as it takes.” His mother told him patiently. She looked at the other 3 women present and rolled her eyes. They all smiled inwardly. Men were all the same no matter the species.

It didn’t help matters that Kyd had to watch the idiot Kiljorn commander flirt with Jaxon. And the female seemed to be returning the flirtations. Damn female! She was going to end up mated to the wrong male if she wasn’t careful. He didn’t want to deal with this. He needed a distraction. The Kiljorn Leader offered him one.

“Commander KydEL, there wasn’t time to discuss the arrangements of the prisoners. I thought I would just update you on the situation.” KadEN offered.

“Thank you Prime Leader. I appreciate that.” Kyd responded.

“We brought the two males and female back with us on our shuttle. We turned them over to your security and added additional security of our own.” KadEN relayed the events that transpired.

“Did you find out how they obtained a weapon?” Kyd asked him

“One of your security people questioned them. The elder male had smuggled a weapon from Earth on board the transport ship. No one thought to check the representatives for weapons.” KadEN responded.

“I will inform Prime Leader RendEL all that you have done to help with this situation. It will go a long way with forming the alliance.” Kyd told him.

There was a pause as KadEN looked across the room. “I’ve been introduced to Captain Malone and to your mother and cousin. May I ask who the other female is? She is not Katieran?”

Kyd looked over at Lindsey and smiled a fond smile. “No, she is from Earth, the same as Captain Malone. She is our Legal Advisor to Earth Relations.”

“Her name?” KadEN asked with his eyes still locked on the female with the golden brown hair.

“Lindsey Carreli.” Kyd answered.

Lindsey … KadEN whispered her name in his head. She was a beautiful female.

Kyd’s mother suddenly stood up and silenced everyone in the room. And then they all could hear … “Waaaaaaa ...waaa......” one crying baby. A few seconds later … waaaaa … waaa … two crying babies!

Ren came out of the birthing room smiling ear to ear and tears running down his cheeks. “We have two beautiful healthy daughters.”

His mother hugged him and kissed his cheek. She, too, had tears in her eyes, “I finally have grandchildren!”

People crowded around and asked him questions about the babies and Cassie. Ren was happy to tell them. Two hours later a tired, but happy Cassie was wheeled out of the birthing room. She had two, tiny crying bundles in each of her arms.

Ren reached down and took the larger baby from her arms. He unwrapped the covering over the baby’s head to show a tiny curly crop of blond hair. “I claim you as my daughter. From this day forward, you will be known as Prima IsabELa.” He placed a soft kiss on the baby’s forehead and handed her to his mother who was eagerly waiting to hold her first grandchild.

He then reached down and lifted the much smaller bundle. He uncovered the baby’s head to reveal a tiny patch of bright red hair, just like her mother’s. “I claim you as my daughter. From this day forward, you will be known as Prima GabriELa.” He kissed her little forehead softly and kept hold of her. His mother reluctantly gave IsabELa back to Ren. He held a baby in each arm and smiled at them warmly. “I am your father little ones, now and always.”

Cassie smiled. Today she was supposed to have her mating ceremony. Instead, she had an impromptu christening for her daughters. Watching Ren claim her babies as his own made her heart swell with love. She couldn’t imagine anything she could want more.

Three days later, Cassie stood with Ren on the sandy shore in front of the great waters of Katiera. She was wearing her green mating ceremony gown which had been adjusted to her now post pregnancy size. Her long red hair cascaded down her back in waves and she had little white flowers similar to orchids weaved into a crown on the top of her head. Ren couldn’t take his eyes off of her. She was breathtakingly beautiful.

Cassie glanced one more time at her little girls; they were sitting in AriELa’s and SandELa’s laps. She turned back to Ren. He was exotic looking with his dark blue eyes and the yellow-gold pupils. He had shaved his face smooth. Cassie imagined kissing and nibbling on his jaw line.  He was wearing a dark, Hunter Green Katieran Warrior uniform that seemed to mold to his muscular body.

Ren leaned forward and whispered to her, “Stop looking at me that way or we won’t make it through this ceremony.”

Cassie licked her lips in response, which drew a growl from him. “I’ll try my best to behave.”

Jaxon was standing beside her in a lovely pale, yellow wrap dress whispered, “You two are going to burn the place down with all the heat that is coming off the pair of you.” To emphasize her point, she started to fan herself.

Cassie giggled and Ren chuckled.

The ceremony was a mixture of both cultures. They said the claiming words which were Katierans’ custom; the exchange of rings was Earth’s custom, and finally the renaming.

“I, RendEL, Prime Leader of Katiera claim you, Cassandra Anne Tomlin, as my mate.” Ren spoke in a loud clear voice full of pride and love.

“I, Cassandra Anne Tomlin, claim you RendEL, Prime Leader of Katiera, as my mate.” Cassie said the words which she was grateful did not sound scratchy.

Ren had to use a great deal of constraint to keep from whisking her away.  He turned with her in his arm to face the crowd which was mixed with humans and Katierans. “I rename you Prima Cassandra, mate to RendEL, Prime Leader of Katiera.” The crowd applauded.

Done with the official part of the ceremony, Ren spun Cassie around, pulled her tight into his body, and claimed her lips. Applause erupted all around them, but, they did not notice. Everything faded into the background leaving only the two of them. Nothing could disturb this moment. Until …

“Come on people, get a freaking room!” Jaxon teased them. The group present for the ceremony, moved to an inside area in the Prime building that resembled a ballroom, with tables of food and a dance floor.

Epilogue

“Excuse me Captain Malone. May I have this dance?” A deep male voice came from behind her startling her.

She turned around and had to crane her head up to look into the dark green eyes of the Kiljorn Commander. The man was at least 7’ tall. He had a shaved bald head and the pale green shirt he was wearing was stretched to capacity by his large muscles. He was, strangely, one of the most beautiful creatures she had ever seen.

“I would love to dance with you. And call me Jaxon.” She went into his waiting arms smiling.

He grabbed her and pressed her tight against his body. “Call me TylOR.” His deep voice rumbled.

Kyd watched from the shadows as Jaxon pressed her body against the Kiljorn male. It didn’t matter to him that they were supposedly dancing. Did the female not know what a temptation she was? Or, did she know and enjoy teasing males? This thought angered him. If that was the case, then he was going to put a stop to it.

Jaxon knew she had drunk too much Katieran Juice. She was feeling warm and very, very relaxed. She didn’t even protest when TylOR put his hands on her ass. It kind of felt nice. It had been a long time since anyone touched her as a woman. She felt a tap on her shoulder and looked back. “Commander KydEL?” She asked.

“Captain, I would like a word with you if you can pull yourself away from your public display.” Kyd didn’t wait for her answer. He stalked off towards the shadows.

That … that … MAN! Jaxon yelled in her head as she followed Kyd determined to give him a piece of her mind.

Damn female! Kyd thought.
