A
uthor’s Note
This is a work of fiction. Some of the locations actually exist, but the town of Kanichi Springs is a figment of my imagination. The Choctaw word “kanichi” means “anywhere.”
The fact that there is a prison in the area is purely coincidental and no events depicted here are meant to reflect on the actual prison or its employees in any way whatsoever.
Yes, there really are mountains in Oklahoma. They are little mountains, but anything over 1,000 feet is considered a mountain, so these qualify.
There are caves in the Kiamichi Mountains, but probably none as extensive as the ones that run through Erin’s mountain. There are lots of streams and natural springs in the region, as well as mountain lions, bears, eagles, deer and bobcats.
By the way, marijuana grows quite well there.
