He
watches as the life flows out of her because of the impact of his words. He now
has to resuscitate her by lessening the impact of his words. His intention is
not to kill her within. He just wants to badly wound her heart the way she
wounded his.

Her
eyes bleed with tears. He doesn’t fully heal her wounds because he wants her to
still feel the pain, just not as profoundly as before.

Sebastian
laughs at her.

“I’d
advise you to stop crying as it takes away the little beauty that you have. You
look ugly, Sierra.”

“When you are
able to regain your dignity, please leave. Chad won’t be there to meet you when
you get home and I don’t want a simpleton like you. So, from Chad and I, it is
goodbye, Sierra Malcolm.”

Quietly, she
gets up off the bed and makes her way barefoot to the door.

“Before you
leave I think there’s something I need to tell you.”

Sierra looks
back at him with an awkward smile on her lips.

“What more can
you say to hurt me, Sebastian? Have you not done enough already? Please, just
let me go.”

As she is about
to walk out the door, he starts to speak and she stops in her tracks as she
hears her old friend’s name.

“I’m very sure
you remember your friend Alison. Well it was me that told her to pursue Chad. I
forgot to tell you. Alison was a previous girlfriend of mine back in England.
Matter of fact, we were fucking while her husband was screwing the secretary. I
used her to get to you.”

“Fuck you, you
son of a bitch,” she says, before silently walking out the door.

A part of
Sebastian is deeply hurt as she leaves. She doesn’t look back but he stands waiting
for her to turn.

She does. She
has an evil smirk on her face.

“How does it
feel to know that even in death Chad Perry is better than you?” His green eyes
seethe with rage. “Oh, and one more thing, your sex was fucking shit! Prick.”
She musters a smile and it pierces his heart like a blade.

“I’ll get you
back, Sierra. I promise I will, I am not done with you yet, you will pay, you
fucking bitch.” He screams as she walks out of his life.

After Sierra leaves his
apartment, a letter comes for Sebastian and it holds the worst news he has ever
heard. His hands shake as he reads its contents. Fear envelopes him and he
drops the letter on the floor. His balance gives way and he slumps to the floor
and rereads the contents of the letter once more to make sure he is seeing the
words correctly. Sometimes his eyes fail him, but not today, the words don’t
change as he reads them over and over again.

His nightmare is
back!

The
only person he can confide in has gone, so he makes his way to the kitchen and
pours himself a glass of whiskey, quickly downing it, and then pours himself
another, and then some more, in the hopes that it will drown the truth of the
letter.

CHAPTER 35

Sierra leaves Sebastian’s with a heavy heart, and makes her way to her
other home. For the first time in a long while, she goes to the ten million
dollar penthouse Chad had bought her. She needs to be around something that
reminds her of him, and the apartment is a perfect reminder of Chad.

The walk to the door is long and tiresome. Sierra’s
knees are weak and her skin glistens with perspiration. Her mascara runs down
her rosy cheeks. The tiny bags under her eyes are now painted black from heavy
tears, caused by Sebastian’s words.

She can’t find her keys and she searches for them in
her bag. Her eyes are blurred with tears, mascara and make-up. Finally, she
finds them and unlocks the door.

She
slumps on the floor as the door closes behind her. The super-luxurious
apartment somehow gives her a renewed strength. The familiar scent of Chad’s
old perfume tickles her nose.

Suddenly, she notices that the television remote has
been moved from where she’d left it. She knows it’s not where she’d left the
remote a few weeks back.

She had left it on the sofa and now it’s on the table.
She never leaves her remote on the table. Never! Maybe the side table, but
never the central table.

Someone has been in her apartment!

Fear consumes her. Was someone stalking her? Did they
leave already or are they still in her home?

Sierra begins to shake with dread and her mind fails
as she swiftly runs to the kitchen to grab a butter knife. Her naivety sometime
clouds her rational thinking. She needs a more deadly object but she settles
for the butter knife as the sharp kitchen knife glistens before her.

Slowly and cautiously she makes her way to the extra
bedroom. There is no one there. The blunt knife is still in her hands as she
makes her way to the spare room in her apartment. Something moves in the room.
It’s only the curtains. The breeze is a little strong and it ripples along them.

She’s checked all the rooms apart from her own
bedroom. Her feet pause after every step taken towards her bedroom door. The
door is slightly open, but she remembers closing it.

Sierra’s heart pounds violently as she
makes her final steps to the unlocked door. Her television is on as the flickering
from the flat screen escapes around the door.

Paranoia
and dread consume her as she drops the knife and pushes the door open.

The room’s empty. She makes her way to the walk-in
closet. There is no one there apart from herself. She laughs with a sense of
relief.

“Thank God for that,” she mutters quietly to herself.

She switches off the television and looks at the
picture of her family in England.

Sierra
gets homesick as the photograph brings back memories of happiness and comfort. There
is also a picture of Chad and it makes her cry profusely.

Since she’s been in New York, events have only gone
from bad to worse. The only man she’s ever fallen in love with is dead. Even
her job on Wall Street does not enthuse her anymore. She remembers Chad’s words
about money not being able to buy happiness.
 In
this moment she knows it is the truth. Her job provides financial stability but
her personal life is unstable. All she wants is for Chad to somehow come back
to life and hold her. She cries loudly as his memories flood her mind.

“Please come back. Please
don’t leave me alone. Please!”

The luxury of her apartment suddenly becomes ugly as
she craves the simple things in life. Filled with frustration and regret she
smashes the glass frame that holds the portrait of Chad.

A stray piece of glass grazes her
hand. Sierra cries as she misses everything that means the world to her. Chad
is the first that comes to her mind. The night he made love to her torments her
and the tears fall faster. She regrets the day she left him for Sebastian, even
though he had begged her to stay. He had begged for her, the only woman he’d
ever begged for. He had shared his deepest fear with her and she had divulged
it to Sebastian. Chad had given her his heart and she had broken it knowingly,
due to Sebastian’s manipulation. Tears of regret fall as she misses the dead
man.

Chad was and is her world, but Sebastian had corrupted
her mind towards him. He made her hate him. But now in death her undying love
for him returns.

Sierra must have fallen asleep for ten or fifteen minutes, but her phone
rings and wakes her up.

She walks to her en-suite bathroom, while talking to a
friend on the phone.

It is the
only room she hadn’t checked,

She drops the phone and cuts off the call as she opens
the door. The bathroom mirror is shattered and glass is sprawled across the
floor.

Her jaw drops as the man before her takes a step
towards her.

“Sierra.”

Sierra believes she has seen a ghost, even though she
knows that’s impossible.

“C – Ch – Cha – Chad?”

His blue eyes sparkle in a smile. She is still
sceptical of whether he is real or not.

She
reaches her hand out to him and he touches her. She feels his flesh and knows
that he is indeed alive.

She
stumbles backwards, but he quickly catches her before she slips on the
fragments of glass on the bathroom floor.
The
warmth in his eyes for her is the only thing that lets her know that the
stranger really is Chad Perry. Only around her does the coldness in his eyes
disappear.

She is happy but
upset at the same time.

“I thought you were
dead. You had me going crazy.”

“They tried to kill
me, but a king never dies,” he says, showing her the bandaged wound from the
bullet. She starts to cry.

He gently kisses her
tears away. “Please don’t cry, princess,” he whispers, as he holds her close to
his beating heart. “I’ve missed you so much, my love.” He kisses her lips ever
so softly, slowly trailing his tongue inside her mouth before she can speak any
further. She tries to fight his lips but they have been deprived of her and
they refuse to let go. He bites, licks, tongues and smothers her mouth.

Her body is weak
from the pleasure of his kiss. She forgets her fear as the man she loves stands
before her in all his magnificence. Her love for him is unparalleled and her
heart beats with happiness and relief as he stares her up and down.

He kisses her neck
and she whimpers at the touch of his lips on her flesh.

“Chad, baby, we need
to talk.”

“We’ll talk later,
my love.”

“No, baby, we have
to talk now. I call the shots.” He looks at her with a smile on his face. “Okay,
baby. You call the shots.”

“I thought you were
dead, Sebastian said they’d killed you and he told me so many bad things about
you. But I don’t care about what he said, nor do I care about how you treated
me the last time we saw each other. The truth is I can’t live without you. I
don’t want to live without you. Today has been the worst day of my life because
it’s the day I thought I’d lost you forever”

“I’m sorry, babe,
I’m sorry.” His voice is filled with remorse. Chad holds her tight as she
continues to cry on his chest.

“I love you, Chad. I
need you like the air I breathe and I don’t want to live life without you.
Never leave me again. Please!”

“I will never leave
you, Sierra. I love you too, I only wanted you to feel my pain because
Sebastian told me that you said you were only with me to get to the top, and my
pride clouded my judgement. He made me hate you. But I never truly hated you,
instead I just felt deeper in love with you, and it frustrated me, so I hurt
you in order to take away my frustration. But in the end I just ended up
hurting myself. I have missed you so much. Please forgive me.”

“He tried to make me
hate you also by planting lies about you in my head. But he has failed; he failed
miserably, because the more he lied about you, the more I wanted you.” He
starts to kiss his way down her body, tearing everything that covers her flesh.
Her clothing is in tatters as his knees hit the floor at the same time as the
zip on her trousers.

“I’ve missed you, baby.
I need to touch you again,” he slowly breathes.

His words are warm
and his mouth moves tantalisingly on her flesh. Sierra’s breathing becomes
heavy.

“I’ve missed you
too, baby,” she whispers softly.

He stops.

“Tell me how much you
missed me, babe. Tell me. I need to hear you say it, tell me, baby.”

His voice is soft
and sensuous. The sexiness in his tone drives her wild. Chad stares into her
eyes, his blue eyes hypnotising her.

“I missed the way
you’d fuck me and tell me not to cum, but then do things that you knew would
make my body orgasm.”

“And what else,
Sierra?” he asks, his breathing heavy with need. “Tell me more, baby, tell me
everything.”

Her voice is slow,
sexy and soft. “I miss your hugeness inside me. I miss the way you’d put it in
slowly and make me feel every inch of you as you roughly squeezed my breasts. I
miss the way your fingers play with me till I cum and beg you not to stop, but
you stop and stare at me with your sexy eyes. I almost feel ashamed as you stare
at me, knowing I want more.”

“And then what,
baby? Tell me what else I do that you miss. Tell me the thing that I only do to
you and no other woman alive.”
