“What kind of look?”

“Like if I didn’t stop I’d pay for it. He had crazy eyes watching you too.”

I’m harsh with my words, not enjoying this conversation with him, “Are you sure it wasn’t arousal?”

Ray’s hurt but I think it’s more from the fact that I never showed him an ounce of what I give to Vic. I’m truly sorry about that. He really is a nice guy and I wish I never caused him any pain.

“It was more than that, Freya. What do you know about this guy? Can you trust him?”

“Yes.” The confidence in that single word shows through in my posture and tone.

“Don’t move in with him,” Ray blurts out next, now turning almost sorrowful, “Please.”

Ah, so this is what it’s about. Before I can gently lay it out to him, Vikki’s shadow casts over us like thunder clouds ready to create a storm, “You’re moving in together?”

Vic slides back into his empty chair, slinging an arm around mine, “I’m buying a place actually.”

Vikki gracefully glides into hers, shaking her head in disapproval, “You’re losing it, brother.”

“I am,” Vic says with one side of his mouth barely lifting up, glancing over at me. I can’t help but smile back.

Vikki eyes me the same way a vegan does a hamburger. “I just hope you know what you’re doing.”

Vic strokes my arm with his fingers, “Do you not have faith in me?”

“It’s
her
I’m concerned about,” Vikki reveals, eyes still inspecting me with repulsion, “You’re different since you came here. Less focused.”

“See, Freya?” Ray declares, throwing a hand up like they just proved his point, “Who talks like that? Something sketchy is going on.”

Vic glares at Ray and I understand what Ray had meant about the warning look from before. If looks could kill…

Vic’s voice matches his lethal expression as he practically growls out his words, “Did she beg for you to come to
her
bed after the third date?”

“Vic!” I whisper-shout, embarrassed and angry he shared such personal information.

Ray looks to me in shock, as it was close to two months before we did anything sexual.

“Did she ever kiss you like she wanted to possess you?” Vic continues taunting him, “Or suck your cock like she was starving for it?”

Ray, Vikki, and I all stare at him, completely stunned at his apparent pissing contest.

I’m stumbling for the right words to say to make Vic stop, horrified and not at all expecting this kind of predatory behavior from him.

Ray beats me to it, “You should talk to Keith.” He takes a sip of his beer with a sly grin on, like he’s about to win the upper hand. “Used to tell me stories of how kinky they’d get.”

Okay, first off, fuck Ray for bringing that up, and second, it was in high school; kinky back then was giving Keith a hand job in a movie theater.

Vikki intercepts, observing the redness to Vic’s skin and the way his chest keeps rising higher with every breath. “You look like a man that could show me a few things,” she purrs at Ray, admiring him from head to toe. She stands, “Come show me.”

She doesn’t let him decide, dragging him behind her to the dance floor. It takes less than half a song of her body flirting with his to have Ray giving her the same looks he used to give me. I wish Vikki hadn’t done that. Now I owe her one.

Vic stirs next to me and my anger that is still simmering explodes, “I can’t believe you told him that, and in front of your sister!”

“He needs to know where he stands.”

“That doesn’t mean you share personal things with him!”

“I suppose you’re right. I let my personal feelings get the better of me,” Vic rubs his stern jaw in contemplation. “I’m not used to being in this situation.”

“What situation?”

“Where I care that other men want or have had what is mine.”

“Nobody has ever had me the way you do.” This could be taken as sexual and it would be correct; however, I meant it on a deeper, emotional level.

Vic lowers his voice, his free hand coming over to caress the side of my face in tenderness, “I understand what you mean.”

I lean in to place a soft reassuring kiss to his lips, and the instant our mouths meet all my earlier arousal comes back in full force just from the contact.

Vic grabs my hand, leading me up and through the crowded bar. The crowd parts for him, his presence a command of its own.

The cold air hits us, my nose reddening from it.

“Where are we going?” I ask after he leads me down another block, turning us down a street that only leads to the back of the stores where garbage and crates are kept.

Vic doesn’t respond, but I get my answer when he throws me up against a brick wall. His hands scrunch up my dress while his mouth roughly smashes against mine, teeth clinking from the force.

“I have to have you,” he growls, moving along my neck, lips biting and sucking, leaving his mark everywhere they touch.

“Do it,” I plea with no fear, the dark night hiding us from view.

Vic yanks down my thong, completely removing it from my body. He brings it to his nose, eyes closed, deeply inhaling before shoving them into his pocket. He lifts one of my legs up, having it drape over his arm while his other steadies himself against the brick wall. “Take me out.”

I follow his command, licking my lips when his cock springs free. I wrap my hand firmly around it, stroking. He takes over and watches me watch him with carnal desire.

He’s unhurried in his movement, taking his time going to the very tip and back down, “Where do you want him, Freya?”

My breaths are loud and shaky when I answer, “In me.”

“Where in you?”

I know the answer he is looking for and I gladly give it to him, “My pussy.”

“Your lips are sinful when you say that word,” he says right before giving me a hard, rough smash of the lips.

I cry out when he enters me, both from the force and the relief of finally having him in me. Over and over he brings it all the way out then slams it back in. It has me at the peak every time. I’m about to shout for him to give me release but his sudden halt has me turning my head to what caught his attention.

A group of teenage boys are standing at the end of the alley, staring at what is quite obvious two people fucking against a wall.

“Can I help you?” Vic asks calmly, bringing his accent thicker and deeper at the same time he moves his hips so his cock does the same.

I hide my face in his neck in case I know them (which is pointless since people have seen us together).

One of them speaks up, “No, we’re cool,”

“Then do you mind leaving so I can finish fucking her?”

I turn bright red, the heat of my face warming Vic’s neck.

I hear a few boys snicker and the same boy answers back, “Not at all man. Have fun.”

Their footsteps echo heavily upon their departure and I wonder how I never heard them in the first place, their voices loud as they chatter about what they just saw and if that was one of the hot sisters at Brennan’s. I groan out my embarrassment. That groan quickly turns to ecstasy as Vic resumes his thrusting, picking up the pace.

My head falls back, exposing my neck. Vic bites into the flesh. The mixture of pain combined with my oncoming orgasm has my body shuddering, and it carries on, rolling through the peak long enough that I’m worried for my sanity if it doesn’t end. When it does my whole body goes limp, exhausted from it.

Vic grunts into my skin, mumbling something in a language I don’t understand as he releases into me, his hips erratic with his last remaining pumps. Feeling him fill me up satisfies me on a deeper level, the animal in me wanting every drop of his seed inside me.

“I knew you’d be the one to ruin me,” Vic breathes heavily down my chest, forehead meeting my shoulder.

“That was supposed to me my line,” I pant just as loudly with a sedated smile.

He gently drops my leg, straightening himself out while I do the same. We walk hand in hand back to the bar and I try to conceal a smile but it won’t go away. When we arrive at the restroom he kisses my hand before letting go. I wait in line in a daze, so in love and relishing in it. Once I’m cleaned up and washing my hands I glance up, hardly recognizing the woman staring back at me in the mirror. She has flushed cheeks, rosy puffed lips, and hair tousled all around. What captures my attention the most is the happy content glow radiating from her.

Vic is waiting for me and leads us back to our table with a possessive hand to my back. We are the only ones at the table. The rest of our group is still on the dance floor.

Vikki soon comes over, Ray following her like a devoted puppy. She looks between the two of us and sees the marks along my neck. Her cunning smirk forms, “I should be impressed with you Freya. You’ve somehow turned my sensible, brilliant brother into a fool.”

I scoot my chair closer to Vic to snuggle into his side, his arm naturally wrapping around my shoulder, “I’m okay with that.”

She’s amused again but this time it makes me smile, a genuine one. I’m beginning to like our altercations just as much as she does.

Vikki snaps her fingers at Ray, who straightens to attention, “Go get us all another round of shots.”

Ray scurries to obey his command.

Vikki laughs, and it isn’t merciless; it’s light and carefree, “I see what you like about this place. Perhaps I’ll move into one of the extra rooms of your new place.”

Vic and I look to each other, our expressions of panic mirroring one another.

Vikki laughs harder at the exchange.

Chapter 16

The following day Vic doesn’t come to the café, instead spending time with his sister before she leaves town. He may act like Vikki’s a nuisance, but it’s obvious she matters a great deal to him.

I don’t really have a set day off, so we all take turns leaving early on slow days. Today is one of those days and I end my shift just after lunchtime, excited to get some errands and chores done that I’ve been slacking on since Vic came into my life.

I’m surprised – no, surprised isn’t the right word. Shocked? No. Dumbfounded? Somewhere along those lines – to find Vikki waiting for me as I leave. “We need to talk.”

“Okay,” I answer with hesitation.

“Let’s go for a walk,” she says with a seriousness that has me reluctant to follow her.

“Why not my place?” I suggest, feeling like I’ll have better grounding there.

She waves it off as not an option, “I’m sure my brother has it wired.”

I’m taken back by that response.

Vikki lifts a brow at me, her expression hardly believing that I wasn’t aware, “Oh, please. Are you honestly surprised?”

I shrug, “A little.”

“Well, time to face reality,” She chuckles. “My brother is controlling, set in his ways, and views right and wrong as how it best benefits him.”

I kind of gathered as much.

“He gets it from me,” Vikki adds with a smirk.

I laugh. It was funny.

Vikki smiles at me, the first authentic one since I met her.

We go to the town green, taking a seat at one of the benches around the perimeter. It’s rather small compared to a lot of places, but it’s still a popular hangout, and has a gazebo I’ve always been fond of.

I don’t say a word, waiting for Vikki since this was her idea. After ten minutes of us people watching she finally talks, still observing everyone around us through her dark sunglasses. “We didn’t have a normal childhood. We were raised by a man who viewed us as future weapons instead of children. Our mother was no better. She never stopped him. In my opinion that’s even worse. The only love we ever received was from each other, knowing we were stronger as two than one.” She pauses to watch a toddler chase after a bird. “Vic had it the hardest, our father expecting him to take his place one day.” Vikki’s voice becomes monotone as she recalls the memory, “Vic had no desire to become the man we both loathed. He left home when he was fourteen, determined to make a life for himself outside of our upbringing. I followed. How could I not? I’ve idolized him since the moment he came out after me. We were both driven to bring our father down. Unfortunately, we had different ideas on how to do it. I won’t tell you how it all went down; that’s irrelevant. The point is that we’re better off without him breathing.” She turns her head to look at me through the top of her glasses, “So are you. Do you understand what I’m telling you?”

“No,” because I don’t.

Vikki adjust her sunglasses. “Yes, you do. You’re just more content playing naïve. It’s a very common trait in humans. Reality isn’t something any of you like to face. One of the only things I’m thankful my upbringing knocked out of me. I see the world as it is, in all its ugliness
and
its glory.”

I stare at her profile, trying to figure out her motive for sharing. I can’t, so I ask her instead, “Why are you telling me all this?”

Vikki sighs, “There will come a time, very soon, that your love for my brother will be tested. I don’t want you to fail. My brother deserves happiness, and even if I don’t agree, he found it in you.”

“What do you mean?” I’m so tired of everybody being vague and cryptic. Get to the fucking point.

“Talk to your father, Freya,” she stands, smoothing out her black dress, “and remember what I told you. More importantly, know that my brother handled it the only way he knew how, which may not be how someone like you, who was raised with such mundane normalcy would, but for my brother, who was raised with corruption and vindictiveness as everyday life, it’s more than he would have done for anybody else.” She steps away as if to leave, then steps back, removing her sunglasses so I can see the coldness behind her eyes. “He has fought every day since the day he was born to keep good inside him. Don’t destroy it by breaking his heart. I would have no problems ending your life.”

I regard her backside as she walks away. I believe her threat. In fact, I think a part of her would enjoy getting the chance to end me. I also get that it took a great deal for her to come and talk to me. She doesn’t want to share her brother, that much is obvious, but she also loves him enough to want to see him happy.

As I get up I’m distracted when I see Vikki passing by an ice cream shop that, I kid you not, makes the best ice cream in the entire world.

“Hey!” I shout.

Vikki turns around, peering at me over her sunglasses.

I point to the pink painted store, a hand cupped over my mouth like a microphone, “Go in there. You can thank me later.”

Her head lowers even more like she needs to view me better to make sure I seriously just told her to stop for ice cream after everything she just said. I love that I caught her off guard.

All I can respond with is a shrug and a grin. I will never not like a person enough to deny them good ice cream. Besides, she’s kind of growing on me. I won’t ever tell her that of course; it’d make her far too happy in that evil mastermind way of hers (that
is
pretty badass if I’m being honest).

Vikki goes inside, throwing open the door with an air of superiority like she owns the place. I can’t help but smile.

My mind focuses back on our conversation, overflowing with too many questions that need answering. First things first: talk to my father.
