He rubbed his fingers against her clit, making the knots coil deep in her stomach again. Then he slid his fingers down her slit and in to her warm wet center.
“Mmmm, Abby you are so ready for me. I can’t wait to take you and make you mine forever.” He whispered, blowing hot air against her nipple, making her shiver with anticipation.
“Please Ethan.” She whimpered, “I need you inside of me. Now”
Ethan stilled from his ministrations and pulled up to look in to her eyes. Without saying another word, he pushed her legs further apart and slipped between them. Then slowly and smoothly sheathed him inside her channel.
He stopped for just a moment as he met the barrier of her virginity and looked in to her eyes, “I love you, Abigail. I promise I will spend the rest of my life showing you just how much I love you and I will never hurt you.”
Abby just smiled and sighed, “I love you too, Ethan. I always have and always will. My heart belongs to you.”
Ethan captured her mouth with his and kissed her passionately, as he swiftly but smoothly thrust his hips forward, pushing passed her barrier. Pain then pleasure rushed through her, as he continued to thrust in and out slowly.
She could feel herself building to another orgasm as his thrusts became faster and harder. In and out. In and out. Until finally she felt herself explode over the edge again, all of her nerves firing off at once, taking her breath away.
He thrust one last time so hard she felt him in her womb, and then he came down on top of her sinking his teeth in to her throat, as he spilled his seed in to her. The sensation of his bite, then him sucking her blood caused her to go over the edge again and she gasped for air as her head spun in complete ecstasy. As she came down from her climax, her body began to relax and she closed her eyes. Just as she felt like she was going in to blackness, Ethan pulled away and she felt a warm metallic tasting liquid spill in to her mouth. Like a starving animal, she lapped at the liquid, and then opened her eyes to see it was blood from Ethan’s wrist. Before she had a second thought, she latched on to his arm, sucked, and drank, until she felt completely filled.
Ethan collapsed next to her. His breathing was heavy and Abby was almost afraid she had taken too much. However, when she turned to look at him, he just lay there with his eyes closed and a satisfied smile across his face. He reached out, pulling her against him and she rested her head on his chest.
“You’re stuck with me forever now, Abby.” He teased.
She giggled, and then said, “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Liz stared hard at the wedding invitation, wondering if she could burn holes into it with her eyes. Giving up, she threw it down on the kitchen counter and snarled at it.
It wasn’t that she hated her foster sister, Abby. At one time, they’d been inseparable friends. Then her infernal brother started doting on her as if she was some kind of princess, and Liz got sick to her stomach just watching Abby’s starry-eyed expressions every time Ethan came around.
She didn’t want to admit jealousy because that would mean she envied what Ethan and Abby have together, and she really didn’t.
Do I?
A big part of her longed for what they had. Love at first sight, despite the age difference. Of course, it would have to be despite the age difference. Ethan is over three hundred years old and Abby is just twenty-two. There is definitely an age gap there.
However, Abby is Ethan’s mate, and some part of them knew that, even when Abby was still just a little girl and they couldn’t tear themselves away from each other.
Liz definitely wasn’t jealous of Abby’s looks. Abby was a plain, girl-next-door type, with her mousy brown hair, button nose, and wide hips. Sure, she has some great features, like her bright blue eyes and her lush lips. Even so, Abby is definitely not supermodel material.
Not like Liz. At the moment, Liz was being offered an exclusive position as a runway supermodel for one of the world’s top fashion designers. She would get to travel across Europe and wear the latest in fashions, and while she modeled, she may be able to show the designers some of her own stuff and get an apprenticeship. That’s what she really wanted to do, make her own designs, and become one of the world’s top designers.
She hadn’t called yet to accept the position, but she knew she would. First, she would have to call her parents and tell them she wouldn’t be able to make Ethan’s wedding because she was offered a great modeling gig in Europe.
Then she would call the agency to tell them she accepted the position, afterwards she'd pack her bags and be on her way to Munich, Germany, her first stop on her tour of Europe.
It was a good thing to have Vogue shoot those pictures of her for their ‘Vogue’s Model of the Month’. Otherwise, she probably would have been roped into being a bridesmaid in one of those awful dresses for her brother’s wedding.
She looked at the invitation one more time, and a great feeling of sadness fell over her. She knew she was still young and would probably have to wait a couple hundred years to meet her mate. She was just so lonely.
She felt as if everyone in her life had someone else, and she was always on the outside looking in. Of course, her parents doted over her just as much as they did Abby. However, they always handled Abby with so much greater care because of what Abby had gone through with her biological parents. Liz knew she shouldn’t hold that against her, but some part of her just felt–lost. As if she was the third wheel of the party and no one really wanted her around, or knew she existed.
She picked up the sheet of linen paper and ripped it in half before she tossed it in the trashcan. Then she picked up her cell phone and dialed her mother’s number.
She was going to have to deal with a lot of whining from her mother about not going to the wedding, but she would rather spend her time traipsing around Europe, than watch her brother marry his destined mate, while she was forced to wait for hundreds of years for hers.
Who knows
?
Maybe I’ll get lucky and find my mate early.
Liz squashed that hopeful thought before it took hold. There was no way she would find her mate early. She even doubted she would ever find him. Somehow she felt she was destined to be alone for the rest of her life, always on the outside, looking in.
Chapter One
Rainbow hued lights bounced around the room and blinded him as he weaved his way through throngs of bodies moving and gyrating to the loud dance music blaring from the large speakers scattered around the club. Cole had to brace himself against the booming bass of the music as it vibrated through him and the screeching female vocals that pierced his ears, as he stopped at the edge of where the actual dance floor began and scanned the room looking for one person in specific.
All he had to go by was a photograph; if he could call the magazine cover page he held crinkled in his fist a photograph. Vogue’s model of the month was his new hit and by the looks of her, she would be a pleasant hit at that. He didn’t usually play with his prey before he killed it, but he couldn’t help but look at those long, firm legs of hers and wonder what they would feel like wrapped around his waist.
He shook his head, trying to dispel the unwanted thoughts. He was an assassin and a damn good one. He never once stopped to give his target the once-over and imagine what it would be like to screw it before he did his job, no matter how hot she was, and he wasn’t about to start now.
Shrill laughter reached his ears and he turned to where a group of people sat around a large circular booth, drinking and laughing. The owner of the hyena-like laugh was a woman with long dark hair and a pointy nose. She resembled the species her laugh mimicked and Cole couldn’t help but wonder if she were in fact a hyena-shifter.
He looked over each one of the table’s occupants, noting their sleek, polished attire and overly beautiful looks, even the men, until his eyes landed on the one person he had come to this noisy hellhole to find and terminate. Elizabeth Hunt, with her golden blonde hair, pouty red lips, lithe, slender body, sat next to a very feminine looking French man, who had his arm wrapped around her delicate shoulders, holding her closely to him, and she did not look like she was enjoying herself.
The man pulled her in closer to him and whispered something in her ear, which drew a surprisingly, possessive growl from Cole. He had no idea why he would be jealous of the man who had such a deadly creature wrapped in his arms. If what he heard about her was true, Cole was sure she would probably be feasting on this arrogant little pretty boy before the night was through because Elizabeth Hunt was no ordinary beauty, she was a blood-sucking vampire.
Not that Cole really held it against her, he was a shifter.
Who was he to judge?
He didn’t care what a creature was, whether they were mere humans or demons, they all had a right to exist. It wasn’t until the said creature started to get out of hand, hurting and killing others that Cole really even paid attention because then he was hired to take them out.
Ms. Hunt became one of those hires. She started to let her immortality and power go to her head. She started killing innocent people and turning others into vampires, which was why she had to go.
Vampires had been roaming the earth for eons and no one could tell the difference between them and regular humans, other than they live forever and they drink blood. They liked to keep their anonymity. They didn’t usually go around changing humans into vampires, unless the human was their destined mate, but that was done with the persons consent. They certainly didn’t go around draining innocent victims and leaving dead bodies lying around all over the place. They only drank from donors, and now days from synthetics.
Sure, there were Rogues, who thought they could do whatever they liked with no consequences, but those vampires were pointed out by the Vampire Council and taken out before things got too far out of hand.
Elizabeth hadn’t even been brought up to the Council, yet. Another vampire, Dorian Czernobog, an Elder of a very large Russian clan, had it brought to his attention what Ms. Hunt was up to and thought to hire Cole to get the job done quickly and quietly, before the Council found out about it. Apparently, Ms. Hunt’s father, David Hunt, had once been a very prominent member of the Council and Dorian didn’t want his name to be disgraced by his daughter’s actions.
Cole could really care less about the intricacies of it all, he just knew she was his next job and he wouldn’t finish until it was done.
So, again, why did he feel a surge of jealousy go through him as he watched the man-boy pull her closer to him and whisper into her ear.
The man kissed her cheek and Cole growled again, which made her suddenly look up and her blue eyes suddenly lock onto him. He tried to look away, acting as if he just happened to look over at them, but he found his gaze locked on hers, as if she had him trapped under some spell. He saw her breath hitch when she looked at him and a look of recognition passed across her eyes. He felt tense, knowing he’d never really met Ms. Hunt before, but feeling the same familiarity.
Did she know who he was?
After long moments, the spell was broken when she turned back to her companion and whispered into his ear. The man made a pouty face at her, and Cole really wanted to know what she said. Usually he’d be able to hear a pin drop, but with the blaring music, he couldn’t even hear himself think. Whatever she said made them argue a bit and when she started to get up from her seat, he feared she was going to come after him, so he walked out onto the crowded dance floor to blend in and hide. He didn’t want her to come to him because that would mean his mark had spotted him and make it harder for him to do his job.

“No, Andre, I really want to go home now. You stay and have fun. I’ll see you tomorrow at the photo shoot,” Liz insisted as she tried to extricate herself from the veritable man-boy who had been pawing at her all night.
He’d been hitting on her for weeks, and she’d been putting off his passes because she was just so tired of dating male models, but she had felt lonely and in need of companionship after she’d spoken to her mother who couldn’t stop gushing over her brother, Ethan’s marriage to her foster sister, Abby. It wasn’t that she hated the fact that her brother had found his mate and now was settling down to start a family. She just wondered when it would be her turn, or if she would ever find her mate. It had taken Ethan over 300 years to find his destined life-mate. Liz was not a patient person and didn’t think she could wait that long.
Therefore, she agreed to come out with Andre, telling herself that she could just use him as a distraction and hopefully, have some good sex, while she was at it. However, now she wasn’t so sure she wanted to.
Plus, there was that strange zing that went through her body when she’d heard someone growl after Andre kissed her cheek and her eyes locked with a burly giant of a man standing at the edge of the crowded dance floor watching them. As soon as their eyes locked, she felt this overwhelming sense of familiarity and need to go to him, and it scared the living shit out of her. The way her body had reacted to him, her nipples puckered and her pussy moistened. She knew that if she could scent him over the smell of sweaty bodies in the room, she would have scented her mate.
So, why was she suddenly running? Hadn’t she just been feeling down because she didn’t think she would ever meet her mate?
Maybe it was because the man stood well over six feet tall, had biceps bigger than her head, and looked to be a shifter. There had to be a mistake because shifters and vampires did not mate. Most shifters, save a few, didn’t mate for life, or even have one true mate, and all vampires had just one true mate who was destined specifically for them. So this was definitely a mistake, one that had Elizabeth racing out of the crowded club and to the nearest taxi, not daring to look over her shoulder.
