“Fuck, your mouth feels good,” he panted, and his dirty words cause a fresh gush of wetness to soak through her panties and onto her fingertips. She couldn’t take it anymore; she needed to feel him inside her. As if sensing her need, he pulled her to her feet and whipped her around so she faced the desk. She barely had time to kick off her heels before he’d bent her over the desk at a 90-degree angle, sending papers scattering across its surface. He’d pulled down her panties in an instant, yanking them down around her knees and hiking up her dress to allow him access. After a deliciously agonizing moment of anticipating, she felt the tip of his head pressing against her womanhood, his hands holding her hips as he guided himself inside her. He pushed the tip inside her and paused like that, feeling her pussy clench around him as he delayed the full force of her gratification. She was holding on to both edges of the desk now, her knees weak with desire, her moans begging him to push himself deeper. Finally, with a deliciously torturous slowness, he thrust his cock deeper insider her one inch at a time. She felt the juices run out of her, all down the shaft of his cock, as he pulled her body back against him with a hand on each of her hips. He pumped into her slowly, deliberately, allowing her to savor each thrust. Gradually he increased the pace, the intensity rising in tandem. She was moaning with each thrust now, her mouth hanging open, her breasts heaving into the desk.

He leaned in close to her ear. “That’s it,” he grunted softly, increasing the pace of his thrusting. “Take every inch of me, just like that.” He moved his hands up onto her shoulders, the better to pull her body against him, and her moaning reached a fevered pitch as he slammed into her again and again.

She fell into a kind of sex-induced trance, so turned on that she was losing awareness of anything except for the movement of their bodies. He took a hand off her shoulder and reached down for her clit from behind, rubbing her as he continued to crash into her from behind. From there, she knew it was the point of no return. The orgasm built up quickly inside her, and with his fingers on her clit she was unable to fight against it any more. She came harder than she had in months, her mouth opening in a silent scream of pleasure as wave after wave of the climax shot through her body. Just as she thought the orgasm was subsiding, she felt his cock stiffen inside of her, and he pushed deep inside her and held her there with a firm grip on her shoulder as she felt the hot come surging out of his cock. It was enough to make her orgasm redouble in intensity, and she came all over again as his cock pulsed inside her. By the time they both finished, she was panting and delirious from the strength of it, weak in the knees and unable to speak.

He pulled out and turned her around gently, guiding her to him and letting her collapse against the hard muscles of his body. She fell into him, panting, and they held each other like that for a long while. She could smell the delicious scent of their sex, enveloping them like sultry perfume, and it was only after a good minute of stillness that she was able to pull her head from his chest and look up into his eyes.

“That was perfect,” she said, and he leaned down into her to steal one more kiss, this time soft and gentle.

“I agree,” he said, a smile curving the edges of his lips. He motioned towards the bathroom. “Come,” he said, “let’s get cleaned up and have some dinner. I’d like to get to know you better, Jessica. You know, I…”

He trailed off.

She smiled. “You what?”

He shook his head. “Never mind. Some things are better left unsaid.”

She laughed. “If you say so.” There was no awkwardness between them, none of that timid post-sex small talk that so often crept into conversations between first time lovers. She knew that what they shared was purely sexual – it wasn’t romantic, so much as just lustful, and somehow that made it all the easier. She slipped off her dress and stood there before him, naked, kissing him one last time before heading off to the bathroom

“I’ll be right out,” she said coyly, and he watched her silently as his eyes drank in the sight of her naked body.

“I’ll be waiting,” he replied. She gave him a wink and a small smile before pulling the door closed behind her.

Chapter Sixteen

Carlo entered the office with a hundred questions weighing on his mind. He’d gone with Rocky to met his contact in Fiumicino, and hadn’t batted an eye when Rocky’d come back from the meeting holding a large gray suitcase in each hand. He hadn’t even asked what the cases contained, and Rocky was smart enough not to volunteer the information. But when they’d got back to Rome and Carlo tried calling Dominic, he hadn’t picked up – no voicemail, no nothing, even though he’d specifically asked Carlo to phone when he arrived. Now it was Saturday, and Carlo had woken up to a cryptic text message from Dominic:

“Take the suitcases from Rocky and bring them to my office. Come alone.”

Against his better judgment, Carlo had shown Rocky the text – but Rocky couldn’t make sense of it, any more than Carlo could. And when he’d asked what the cases contained, he’d been surprised to find out that Rocky didn’t even know – didn’t even have the combination to open the lock.

So here he was, walking into the office holding two suitcases of God knows what, and wondering just what the hell Dom had up his sleeve this time around.

“Throw the cases on the desk,” said Dominic, who looked disheveled, as if he’d spent the whole night drinking. There was a faint smell of booze in the air, mixed with perfume. Carlo’s eyes flashed to the couch; he wondered what sort of debauchery had taken place there the night before.

With some effort, he lifted the two heavy suitcases onto the middle of the desk, and Dominic spun open the dials. “Come here,” he said, and Carlo stepped over next to him with a quizzical look on his face.

Dom popped open the suitcase, and Carlo’s eyes widened at what he saw.

It was guns… lots of guns. At least thirty pistols, of all shapes and sizes, with a couple of Uzis thrown in for good measure. Dom picked one up and handed it to Carlo, who took it reluctantly. The weight of it was enough to tell him it was loaded.

“There’s more where this came from,” said Dominic. “This isn’t the half of it, matter of fact. I got the heavy weapons coming within a couple of days.”

Carlo stared at Dom’s face, not knowing what to say.

“We’re going to war, Carlo,” he said, staring back at him hard.

A million thoughts were racing through Carlo’s mind. He’d seen Dom do some crazy things in the past, but despite his disheveled appearance there was nothing erratic about the way he was acting now. He’d planned this out, it seemed, and Dom never made any plans without thinking them through. He had so many questions… But the shock of the sight before him was enough to keep Carlo silent.

Dom took the gun back from him and put it back in the suitcase, then shut both cases and locked them again. “The code’s 6238,” he said. “Remember it. I’m holding you responsible for getting these guns to our boys in the field. I want you to leave immediately. Meet with our bosses in all the surrounding counties, and pass the word on to each them in person.”

Carlo still couldn’t speak – could only stand there, staring blankly, and blinking as he tried to process Dominic’s words. “Why me?” he blurted out finally, the first question that came to his mind.

Dom laughed softly, but there was no real humor in his face. “That’s the first thing you ask?” he said, shaking his head slowly. “You don’t even want to know who we’re going to war with?”

“I figured you’d tell me that much,” Carlo replied, the words now slowly coming to him. “After all, I need to know what to tell all the dons when I see them. But I don’t understand why you want me, of all people, to do the job.”

“I trust you,” said Dom simply. “It’s like I told you, Carlo. You’ve got a head on your shoulders. Everyone in the family knows that. You tell these guys personally, they’ll pay attention – especially when you place a gun in their hands and tell them it’s courtesy of Dominic. It’s a delicate job you’re doing, kid, and I can’t risk a fuck-up. Not this time.”

Carlo was nodding absently, still staring at the suitcases on the desk. “…Who?” he said. “…When?”

“The Berlotti family,” said Dom, watching Carlo’s face intently as he spoke. “Within a week – as soon as the rest of the weapons come in. I want all the sub-bosses to meet here at the office, Thursday night. I’ll explain everything then.”

“The Berlottis?” Carlo asked. “I thought you’d made a truce with them.”

Dom sighed. “Yeah, well, they fucked that one up pretty good.”

“With all due respect, Dom, are you sure about this? The Berlottis aren’t some mom and pop organization, you know. They’ve got a strong network – and they’re not scared of violence. This war won’t be easy.”

“Don’t you think I know that?” snarled Dominic, his eyes flashing with anger. “Who do you think you are, to question me? I’ve got my reasons, kid, and you don’t know the fucking half of it. So leave the decision-making to me, and just worry about doing your job.”

Carlo’s face hardened. “Fine,” he said. “I’ll go around and tell the bosses. I’ll run this little errand. But I won’t fight your wars for you, Dominic, and neither will my brother. I want out.”

Dom laughed. “You want out,” he said. “That’s cute. You think you’re anywhere close to paying off your father’s debt?”

Carlo eyes flashed. “Leave my father out of it.”

“No can do, kid,” said Dominic. “You like it or not, you’re in the middle of this thing. I’ll tell you what, we come out of this war alive, then let’s talk about your options. I can’t let you go before we finish the Berlottis off.”

They stared at each other, each man sizing up the other. For a long moment, no one spoke. But Carlo knew he had no choice but to acquiesce to Dominic’s command.

“Fine,” he said finally. “Fine, Dom. I’ll do it. But after this, I’m fucking done. You got that?
Done.
” He grabbed the suitcases, heaving them off the desk and turning for the door. “Anything else, or can I leave now?”

“Go on,” said Dom. “Go ahead. Come back when you’ve finished the job.”

And with that, Carlo stormed out of the office.

Dom watched after him, sighing.

“If only you knew, kid,” he muttered. “If only you knew.”

He’d thought long and hard about whether to tell Carlo the real reason this war was getting started – but in the end, he’d decided against it. Carlo couldn’t know the Berlottis had killed his father, for the simple reason that Dominic didn’t know how he’d react to it. If he was starting this thing, he needed to make sure he could finish it – and for that, he needed Carlo to have a cool head. If Carlo knew the Berlottis were behind his father’s death, there was no telling what he would do.

So for now, Dom would keep him in the dark about it – even though it weighed on his conscience, he knew he had no other real option. He’d tell him eventually, when the time was right. Hell, if things went well, maybe he’d even let Carlo pull the trigger when the time came.

But what he’d said had been true: the Berlottis were no easy target, and a full-on war with them was an extremely dangerous proposition. They were well-funded, well-armed, and they had almost as many informants as Dom himself did.

But there was another reason for the war. If Dom could manage to destroy the Berlotti family, there would be nothing standing between him and the top. He’d rule Rome, plain and simple. With the Berlottis gone, there would be no one left to stand in his way.

And that, Dom knew, was something worth fighting for...
